Wisconsin
Actions Underway
- Wisconsin is a state and locally funded court system. Wisconsin’s budget was not reduced in FY09. It is anticipating a $2.2 million reduction in FY10.
- A general wage adjustment, originally announced as a 2% increase was reduced to 1% and implemented July 6, 2008.
- Wisconsin has implemented a hiring freeze. General wage adjustments for non-judicial staff have been eliminated for FY10. Non-judicial staff may be required to take furlough days. Judges’ will not be receiving the annual market adjustment to their salaries.
- A market adjustment for judges, effective October 12, 2008, has not taken place since the Governor has not appointed a new judge. Additional information about the judicial market increase is anticipated after the new calendar year begins.
- The court system pay for performance program, implemented July 6, 2008 included minimal pay increases to less than 20 employees. Most employees received recognition in the form of "merit days.”
