Actions Underway
- Oklahoma’s budget was not reduced in FY09. The legislature has reduced the Judiciary’s FY10 trial court and appellate court budgets by 7%.
- The Supreme Court has been authorized to transfer funds from several restricted judicial revolving funds to help make up the shortfall and the Chief Justice has made it clear that he will require that the district courts reduce their local court fund budgets for FY 2010.
- Future vacancies will not be filled without the approval of the Chief Justice. All judicial branch salaries are frozen. Out of state travel is severely limited.
- Oklahoma is requiring that local court fund budgets be carefully scrutinized and reduced by each local court fund board.
