Alaska

Overview

• The Alaska court system is state funded.  Alaska’s budget was not reduced in FY09 and will not be reduced in FY10.  The Alaska Judiciary is trying to access Economic Stimulus funds, which are currently directed to executive branch agencies.
• Alaska is not planning to eliminate any programs at this time and does not anticipate any organizational or procedural changes at this time although the court is working on the consolidation of financial functions.
• Alaska is developing an electronic Document Management System and implementing video arraignments, video conferencing and digital audio recording.
