CTC5 Celebration!
Thanks to all who attended the Fifth National Court Technology Conference (CTC5) and made it such a big success. With more than 2,500 participating judges, court administrators, and technologists, CTC5 was the largest court gathering ever held! From the opening reception to the final SuperSession, attendees explored all of the conference offerings--more than 25 educational sessions, 15 Special Interest Group meetings, an extensive exhibition, and hands-on opportunities in the CTC5 Laboratory. CTC5 was a big hit!
Let the conference photographs and attendee comments speak for themselves.

Keynote Presentations
The conference began with a brief message from the Thomas R. Phillips, president of the Conference of Chief Justices, followed by welcoming comments from Roger K. Warren, the president of the National Center for State Courts. At Tuesday evenings keynote, Cheryl Currid encouraged attendees to take every opportunity to explore technology and to use technology tools to their fullest potential. At Thursdays Luncheon, Dr. Shoshana Zuboff explained how technology affects our work and our organizations.
Education Program
The educational sessions were geared to meet the needs of todays courts. Popular topics included imaging, court rules and technology, the Internet, and videoconferencing. Running concurrently with the educational sessions were Special Interest Group (SIG) meetings, which provided opportunities for attendees to interact and network with others who have similar interests.
"Hands on in the Lab, special interest networking groups, lots of vendors, educational sessions and inspirational and challenging talks combined seamlessly to provide one of my most dynamic learning experiences in a long time."
CTC5 Exhibition and Showcase Theatres
The CTC5 exhibition was the largest ever, with 139 booths and nearly 100 vendors. New Showcase Theatres allowed vendors to demonstrate their products and systems right on the exhibition floor. Attendees crowded the theatres on both days of the exhibition.
Exciting prizes were given on both days. Grand-prize winners Leonard Axelrod of St. Paul, Minnesota, and Paul Oberhausen of Fort Wayne, Indiana, are the proud owners of U.S. Robotics PalmPilot Professionals, pocket-sized digital assistants that include e-mail connectivity software, expense tracking software, a backlit screen, enhanced PalmPilot PIM software, and 1 MB of memory. John D. May of Fort Worth, Texas, and Lisa Smith of Cheboygan, Michigan, won complimentary registrations to CTC6!

![]() I would highly recommend this conference. It opened my eyes as to the technology that is out there. |
"Theatre presentations were very interesting and lasted the right amount of time."
CTC5 Technology Laboratory
The CTC5 Laboratory, funded by the State Justice Institute, was the place for hands-on experience in a relaxed environment. With nearly 20 workstations, attendees were able to surf the World Wide Web to view a host of court- and justice-related Web sites, including "CTC5 Live." Digital photographs were taken throughout the conference and posted daily on the live Internet site. Lab attendees also observed a multi-point videoconference between several different locations.

Thanks again for your participation, and see you at CTC6!

Talking to vendors was great!
