Recording of the Record Task Force.  Judicial Council of California.  The Reporting of the Record Task Force is studying such issues as standardization of court reporting systems, uniformity of transcripts, and the maintenance of and access to transcripts via electronic or paper media.  They are also examining the impact of the current shortage of court reporters.

Stienstra, Donna, et al.  Digital Audio Recording Technology: A Report on a Pilot Project in Twelve Federal Courts.  Washington, DC: Federal Judicial Center, 1999.    This report summarizes findings from a study of digital audio recording technology as it was used to take the record of court proceedings in six district and six bankruptcy courts.  Interviews with judges, court recorders, court managers, and system staff identified advantages and drawbacks to digital recording technology.  Costs, functionality, and benefits of digital and analog recording systems were also compared.  (KF8725 .D55 1999)
