Questionnaires
to assist in jury selection are written questions distributed to the
jury panel and completed prior to oral jury selection processes.
The goal is to expedite the oral portion of jury selection by providing
the attorneys and judge with written responses that will help them to
focus their efforts in oral selection to discover potential juror
biases. Additionally, they may be used to prescreen jurors for
qualification criteria, such as residency, citizenship, age, and others.
This
module explores the use of questionnaires to assist jury selection, as
well as the practice's advantages and disadvantages.
