To minimize the boredom associated with juror “downtime”
during pretrial and trial proceedings, and to allow jurors to conduct
business during their service, courthouses will often equip the jury
waiting area with an environment conducive to private work and supplies
appropriate entertainment or diversion.
This may supplement other strategies, such as call-in or online
systems, designed to use jurors’ time effectively and efficiently.
Some courthouses have also begun to provide other amenities for
jurors, including child care services and cafeterias.
This module seeks to explore some common questions about
courthouse facilities benefiting jurors.
