Acknowledgments
These guidelines reflect contributions from many professionals. A survey of court interests and plans regarding electronic communication helped determine the general direction of these guidelines. I am grateful to the many courts that completed this survey. I am also indebted to the Court Technology Bulletin for its assistance in disseminating these surveys.
The State Justice Institute provided funding for the Information Superhighway Implementation Guidelines project. I thank the Institute and the project monitor, Janice Munsterman, for their support and assistance. I am grateful to the Institute for its past and continued support of technology-related state court projects. The judicial system as a whole benefits from its often unique support of state-level projects with nationwide application.
Many individuals within the National Center for State Courts contributed to the development of these guidelines. J. Douglas Walker, Director of Court Technology Research, and Lawrence P. Webster, Executive Director of Court Technology Programs, reviewed drafts and provided management guidance throughout.
Other individuals extensively reviewed the guidelines, each providing their unique perspective. I am indebted to Maureen F. Mucha, Technology Specialist, for her insight regarding organization of the guidelines; to James E. McMillan, Director of the Court Technology Laboratory, for his contributions to the content of the guidelines; and to Dawn M. Spinozza, Publications Specialist, for her editorial review.
Pat Maddox, Administrative Secretary, provided administrative support in preparing these guidelines. Finally, I owe a great debt to Robert W. Calleson, former Manager of Management Information Systems, for maintaining the National Center's Internet link which made much of this research possible. In addition, Mr. Calleson has been an invaluable source of technical information.
