ADMINISTRATOR: 61st
District Court, Grand Rapids, MI. Summary:
The Court
Administrator is an executive level position appointed by and
serving at the pleasure of the six district court judges. This
position, in conjunction with the Chief Judge, has overall
management authority and responsibility for the non-judicial
components of the Court. Duties:
The Court Administrator provides strategic direction,
program and budget setting, and overall supervision for all
court departments and activities. Representative duties include:
Oversees and manages all court personnel through subordinate
management staff, including recruitment, training, supervision,
discipline, and termination. Responsible for fiscal management,
including budget preparation/administration, purchasing, payroll
and financial control functions. Formulates policies regarding
modification and adoption of rules and policies established by
the Michigan Supreme Court, City of Grand Rapids, or the judges
and implements them when approved. Analyzes proposed legislation
and administrative regulations for their impact on the court
Responsible for case flow, office automation, jury, information,
and records management. Identifies problems; recommends
procedural and administrative changes. Serves as liaison with
city and county government, law enforcement, legal
representatives, and other community organizations. Facility
management. Qualifications: Education and experience required is: Graduation
from a college or university with a master’s degree in
judicial studies, criminal justice, public or business
administration or closely related field and; Five years of
experience in the management of a public agency with at least

TRIAL
COURT ADMINISTRATOR:
North Dakota Judicial System, Minot,
ND. Summary:
Under the direction of the state court administrator, the
court administrator plans, organizes and directs court
administrative activities for all courts within one of the four
state administrative units.
This position serves as a manager to a large staff
engaged in providing service to high volume and complex
caseloads including comprehensive district-wide programs,
juvenile, and court administrative services. As the senior administrative position within the
administrative unit, the position is responsible for providing
leadership and guidance in all administrative areas with
emphasis on the development and implementation of efficient and
cohesive administrative processes.
Staff oversight is provided through subordinate
supervisors within the administrative unit. Duties: Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the
management of juvenile, fiscal, docket and caseflow, jury,
records, personnel, facilities, data processing and various
district or statewide functions. Qualifications:
Requires a bachelor’s degree in judicial administration,
public administration or a related field and 4 years of

DIRECTOR
OF TRIAL
COURTS: Vermont
Judiciary. Summary: Managerial, planning, administrative, and policy
development work at a professional level involving statewide
development, implementation, evaluation, and operational
oversight of all operations, services, and programs of the
District Court, Family Court, and Judicial Bureau. Duties:
Establishes priorities, objectives, and strategies for the
Trial Court Operations Division to accomplish the organizational
mission and goals established by the Supreme Court. Within
organizational policies and parameters established by the

Education: Juris
Doctor. Experience: Three years of management experience in a public sector
organization with responsibility for policy formulation and
implementation, budget and fiscal administration, supervision
and human resources management, and program evaluation, one year
of which must have been in a supervisory capacity in a court or

Reporting to the Court’s Chief Executive Officer, the
Assistant Chief Executive Officer is an executive level
operations management position appointed by, an serving at the
pleasure of, the Court. Duties:
Responsible for providing strategic direction, program
development, budget oversight and staff management, the
Assistant Chief Executive Officer is the second highest
non-judicial position in the Court. Implements organizational
policies, procedures and goals for the court, including
personnel plans, calendar and case-flow management, automated
systems, and record keeping. Organizes and staffs committees and

ADMINISTRATOR V:
Minnesota
District Court, Dakota County,
MN. Summary: This
position is responsible for the overall management and
supervision of all aspects of court operations. Duties:
Overall management and supervision of various case
processing activities of the court. Strategic planning and
implementation. Interprets
and executes statutory mandates, rules of court and judicial
polices and procedures. Develops,
administers and manages local budget. Manages financial aspects
of local court operations including collections, fines and fees,
bonds and escrow. Represents District Court and the First

COURT
ADMINISTRATOR-CLERK OF COURT: US District Court, Southern District of Florida, Miami, FL. Summary: Clerk
of Court is appointed by the Judges of the Southern District of
Florida and serves one of the largest federal trial courts in
the country. This is a high level management position which
functions under the direction of the Chief Judge. Duties:
The Court Administrator – Clerk of Court manages the
operational and administrative activities of the Clerk’s
Office, oversees the performance of the statutory duties of the
office, and maintains oversight of the U.S. Probation Office.
The position may also
include any of the following duties: daily consultation,
advising and supporting the Chief Judge and District’s
standing committees; direct processing of civil and criminal
cases, the issuance of process, and the maintenance of official
records in custody of the court; manages the District Court’s
decentralized funding allocation; directs the court’s
financial service function including: disbursements for
appropriated and non-appropriated funds for goods and services,
and payroll expense; directs provision and support of automation
hardware and software for over 300 users; lead support to the
Chief Judge and Court in researching and formalizing
documentation of requests for additional judicial resources;
directs preparation, administration and revision of the
District’s long range facilities plan; directs development of
and administers comprehensive emergency preparedness plans
including dismissal policies and communication plans. Qualifications:
Candidates must have an undergraduate or post graduate
degree in public or judicial administration or related field or
a law degree is required. Requires a minimum of 10 years of
progressively responsible administrative experience in public
service or business which provides a thorough understanding of
organizational, procedural and human aspects of managing an
organization. At least 3 of the 10 years experience must have
been in a position of substantial management responsibility.
Preference will be given to applicants with a master’s degree
in judicial, public, or business administration from a college
or university and relevant experience in a court or legal
setting. Excellent computer skills and achievements in
court/legal related automation and technology is highly desired.
Substitutions: An attorney who is in the active practice of law
in either the public or private sector may substitute said
active practice on a year-for-year basis for the management or
general experience requirement. A bachelor’s degree from a
college or university may be substituted for 3 years of the
required general experience. A master’s degree in judicial,

may be substituted for one additional year of the required

ADMINISTRATOR: Marion
Superior
Court, Indianapolis, IN. Duties: Under the jurisdiction of the Judges of the Marion Superior
Court and the Judge of the Circuit Court, the Court
Administrator performs administrative responsibilities of the
non-judicial activities of the Marion Circuit and Superior
Courts. This position is responsible for supervising personnel
and operations of Senior Staff of Court Administration,
including the Director of Finance, Director of Human Resources,
Director of Court Operations, Chief Technology Officer,
Information Service Manager and Facility Coordinator; developing
accountability measures and research programs to better utilize
collected data to develop improved management techniques and to
evaluate cost effectiveness of ongoing Court services and
programs; conducting studies relating to the business and

ADMINISTRATOR: 15th
Judicial Circuit, West Palm Beach, FL. Summary: The
Fifteenth Judicial Circuit is accepting applications for the
position of Trial Court Administrator (TCA). This is an
executive management position responsible for the administration
of trial court operations, programs, and services including
financial and budget services, strategic and operational
planning, information technology and communications, security,
personnel, facilities, capital projects, and public
relations/public information. Duties: The TCA prepares the circuit court budget for state and
county government appropriations, negotiates contracts with
public and private vendors, manages a variety of court programs

District 18, located in Greensboro, North Carolina, has an exciting and challenging position available. Duties:

COURT EXECUTIVE
OFFICER: Superior
Court of California, County
of Sacramento. Summary: Acting
under the direction of the presiding judge and at the pleasure
of the judges of the court, the court executive officer serves
not only in that capacity but as the court’s clerk and jury
commissioner. He or she is responsible for overseeing the
management and administration of non-judicial operations of the
court. The responsibilities include allocating resources in a
manner that promotes access to justice for all members of the
public, providing a forum for the fair and expeditious
resolution of disputes, maximizing the use of judicial and other
resources, increasing the efficiency of court operations, and
enhancing service to the public. The executive officer’s main
office is in Sacramento. Some travel is required – to other court locations, to the
AOC in San Francisco and to other job-related destinations. Duties:
The executive officer is responsible for providing
innovative creative leaderships and policy development to meet
the challenges of a large urban trial court. Essential
functions, accountabilities and responsibilities include, but
may not be limited to: Provides information and recommendations
to the bench on court policy and procedure, evaluation, planning
and development. Plans manages and controls budget and fiscal
resources and negotiates contracts on the court’s behalf.
Plans, implements and manages policies, programs and systems to
support case processing and service to the public. Develops,
recommends and administers a court-approved personnel plan and
directs management staff. Has authority to appoint and terminate
court employees except as prohibited by law or court policy.
Evaluates and implements technology and automated systems to
assist the court. Under the direction of the Presiding Judge,
speaks on behalf of the court with other governmental entities,
the public, the private sector and the media. Qualifications:
The minimum educational requirement is a bachelor’s degree
from an accredited college or university, preferably in court,
public or business administration; pubic policy; or a closely
related field. Work experience must have included assignments
that involved substantial administrative management, supervision
of subordinate managers and budget preparation and management.
Additional qualifying work experience may be substituted for the
required education. Management experience in a large court or
other large organization, public or private, is desirable.

governments. Participates in short and long-term planning for
the court. Duties:
Plans, organizes and coordinates functions related to

Trail Court Administrator (TCA) is an executive
management position responsible for the

Georgia. Summary: The Eighth Judicial Administrative District of Georgia,
located in middle Georgia, seeks a DCA to assist the District Council of Superior Court
Judges and its Administrative Judge in a wide range of
non-judicial functions relevant to trial court operations. Duties:
Duties to include, providing administrative, budgetary,
managerial and technical support to all superior courts within
the 22 county district, and to other courts as requested;

Qualifications:
