JUVENILE COURT ADMINISTRATOR/CHIEF JUVENILE PROBATION OFFICER: Arizona Superior Court, Pima County. Tucson, AZ. Summary: The Juvenile Court Administrator directs all non-judicial functions of the Pima County Juvenile Court Center, including Probation, Detention, Child Welfare Services, Finance, Information Technology, Collections, Human Resources, Calendaring Services, Physical Plant Operations, Research and Evaluation, Grants Administration and Public Information. Duties: Provide strong leadership for all court staff to fully implement the Vision, Mission and Core Values of the juvenile court. Provide expert leadership in instituting effective juvenile justice and child welfare reform policies and practices.  This includes, but is not limited to, detention and probation evidence-based best practices, child welfare innovation and integration of all juvenile justice and child welfare programs to eliminate any roadblocks to seamless and effective service delivery. Provide leadership and direction regarding juvenile justice and child welfare issues including disproportionate minority contact, local and statewide Juvenile Detention Alternatives Initiatives (JDAI), Juvenile Justice Model Court and Child Welfare Model Court. Establish and maintain effective professional relationships with county and state officials and key community leaders and stakeholders. Serve as the Chief Probation Officer and oversee probation services at the Juvenile Court. Oversee and coordinate detention services in a detention facility. Oversee and coordinate services provided by the Juvenile Courts’ Child Welfare division. Assist and coordinate in the development of all Juvenile Court policies and procedures. Provide leadership and supervision to all members of the management team. Ensure compliance with all laws, regulations, and Administrative Orders of the Supreme Court of the State of Arizona. Manage and direct the preparation, presentation, expenditure, and accounting of all Juvenile Court budgets, including appropriations from Pima County, the State of Arizona, and all federal, state, and private grant resources. Manage the space and facilities utilized for operations of the Juvenile Court, including equipment purchases and capital construction projects. Build and maintain relationships with the various constituents served by Juvenile Court. Represent the Juvenile Court on numerous committees at the state level, including, but not limited to, the Supreme Court, Administrative Office of the Courts (AOC); Juvenile Court Administrator’s Meeting (JAM); the Committee on Probation (COP): the Committee on Juvenile Court (COJC); the Chief Probation Officer’s Association; and others as necessary and appropriate.  Maintain working relationships with representatives of the various funding sources utilized by the Juvenile Court. Serve as a member of the joint Court Management Team, comprised of the Presiding Judges of the Superior and Juvenile Courts, the Clerk of the Court, the Superior Court Administrator, and other management members. Assist members of the bench at the direction of the Presiding Judge of the Juvenile Court. Maintain and oversee all Juvenile Court records and data. Perform all other duties and projects as directed by the Juvenile Court Presiding Judge. Qualifications: A Master’s degree from an accredited college or university with a major in public administration, business, organizational development or behavioral sciences and ten years experience in the field of corrections or probation, or working with offenders or delinquents in some equivalent capacity. Must have knowledge of complex issues facing juvenile court children and families including substance abuse, mental/emotional disorders, and domestic violence with at least five years of progressively responsible administrative and supervisory experience. Salary: $85,246 - $127,869 (2011).

DIRECTOR – JUDICIAL AND COURT SERVICES DIVISION: Judicial and Court Services Division, Ohio Supreme Court. Columbus, OH. Summary: This position is responsible for all operations of the Judicial and Court Services Division. The Judicial and Court Services Division offers significant consulting services, technical assistance, and educational programs to trial and appellate courts throughout the state. The division consists of the Office of Judicial and Court Services which includes sections on case management; children, families and the courts; dispute resolution; and specialized dockets; and programs on domestic continuing education to judges, magistrates and court personnel. Responsibilities: Directs all aspects of the division, including managing and leading assigned staff, developing and implementing division objectives and goals, and collaborating with other internal and external leaders to plan and ensure that long-term Court objectives are achieved; Implements division standards and objectives; monitors status; and ensures that the division runs efficiently and within established financial guidelines; Selects, develops, and motivates staff within the division; ensures that all staff members operate within Court standards and policies; monitors staff performance and discusses developmental plans with subordinates; Sets the standards, objectives, and goals for the division; collaborates with other members of the leadership team to ensure consistency in objectives and procedures; sets priorities for the division and monitors progress toward goals; Manages division resources; develops, recommends and monitors annual budgets; implements an effective organization to achieve objectives; ensures that the offices and sections in the division operate within the policies, procedures, and guidelines of the Court; Participates with other senior leaders in developing overall plans for the Court’s operations; contributes expertise in own area in the planning process; communicates plans and objectives to division staff; Completes special projects as assigned; develops project plans and timelines; coordinates work with internal and external resources; represents the Court in special committees, task forces, etc. Implements programs requiring multi-year time periods through a complex decision process involving extensive research and coordination, cooperation of court personnel and other governmental agencies; prepares and recommends regulations concerning activities within the judicial and court services division; serves on policy making and quasi-judicial bodies of state; Provides executive level leadership and directions in management. Qualifications: Requires a Bachelor’s degree. Salary: $89,315 - $105,040 (2011).

JUVENILE COURT ADMINISTRATOR: Administrative Office of the Courts. Salt Lake City, UT. Summary: this position performs administrative and management duties in directing the overall non-judicial activities of the statewide juvenile court. Duties: This includes: serving as part of the State Court Administrator's management team, working with the Board of Juvenile Court Judges, supervising trial court executives located throughout the state, and other projects or duties as assigned. Knowledge of court procedures, case management, HR management, evidence based practices, accounting/budgeting procedures, information technology, contract negotiation/administration and legislative processes is necessary, as well as, excellent interpersonal communication skills. Qualifications: The successful candidate will possess a Bachelor's degree and eight years of related management experience; or a Graduate degree in Judicial or Public Administration, Law or closely related field with at least six years of management experience. Salary: $73,643 - $110,643 (2011).

DIRECTOR – JUVENILE SERVICES: Port Orchard, WA. Duties: Plans, organizes, directs and supervises all operations of the Juvenile Department to coordinate and provide effective juvenile court, family court, detention, school programs, drug court, BECCA services, custody and visitation, and domestic services for offender and non-offender juveniles throughout Kitsap County.  The Director provides highly responsible and complex administrative support to the Superior Court Judges on all Juvenile services matters in the County.  This is an at will appointed position.  The Director is directly accountable to the Superior Court Judges and works closely with the judges to identify policy alternatives.  The Director works under broad directives with considerable latitude for independent judgment to effectively implement the goals and decisions of the Judge and provides ongoing status reports of significant activities and programs and/or advises the Judge of actions to be taken which are consistent with statutory guidelines or regulations.  Departmental policies are reviewed by the Judge for the effective management of assigned functions. Qualifications: Masters degree in social services, human services, behavioral science, public administrative criminal justice, or closely related field, and five years of progressively responsible professional level experience in the juvenile justice system including at least three years of supervisory and managerial responsibilities is required; or any equivalent combination of experience and education which provides the applicant with the desired skills, knowledge and ability required to perform the work. ADMINISTRATOR OF JUDICIAL OPERATIONS: (Part time) Chesterfield County Circuit Court Judges. Chesterfield County, VA. Duties: Duties include providing administrative support to five judges; directing the administrative and operations non-judicial activities; managing the Court’s activities and projects; overseeing and managing Circuit Court personnel including recruitment, training and supervision; preparing budgets and authorizing and monitoring expenditures to ensure compliance with fiscal policies; formulating and implementing policy with respect to the operation of court administration; identifying needed changes, innovations or problems and making recommendations for procedural or administrative improvements; serving as a liaison with governmental agencies, the bar, media and the community.  Performs other work as required.  Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree and three years of progressively responsible experience in the legal environment. JUVENILE COURT OFFICER III: Dickinson, ND. Duties: Assists the Director of Juvenile Court Services in performing the director’s duties and responsibilities in a large unit (eight or more staff); in a small unit (seven or less staff), may perform the core duties and responsibilities of a Director of Juvenile Court Services. Performs the core duties and responsibilities required of juvenile officers including: Preparing predisposition reports of assigned cases.  Interviewing the involved parties and obtaining case information from schools, law enforcement agencies, victims and other sources. Preparing and presenting detailed plans for service to the court.  Attending, testifying, and participating in court hearings and other judicial proceedings. Developing and implementing case plans based on assessment of the risks and needs of the probationer, family and community.  Making appropriate referrals for services. Reviewing referrals and determining if a case should be handled formally or informally, and can assist in the preparation of petitions and related documents based upon case discussions with the director or state’s attorney. Conducting informal adjustments.  Issuing temporary custody orders for the case, custody, and control of deprived children.  Authorizing the secure/non-secure detention, release of, or shelter care of juveniles. Serves as a lead worker in large units (eight or more staff) and a supervisor in small units (seven or less staff) providing case management guidance and assistance to entry-level juvenile officers, student interns, and volunteers by advising and responding to questions and problems arising from the review and management of cases. Assists in the daily operation of the office including analysis and resolution of case problems, conduct of informal adjustments, preparation of temporary custody orders, the authorization of secure/non-secure detention, release of, or shelter care of juveniles. Implements policies and procedures for the administration of children’s programs and services within the parameters established by the court.  Represents the juvenile court on task forces, forums, and committees relating to children. Maintains case information on the juvenile court information system. Performs any of the duties that a juvenile supervisor has authority to carry out pursuant to Chapter 27-20, N.D.C.C., or other statutes, or by court rule or policy, if assigned by the court. Qualifications: Requires a bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, sociology, counseling, criminal justice or a related area and five years of previous experience in a criminal justice or juvenile justice system. Salary: $4,912 per month (2011).

JUVENILE DETENTION TEACHER (SPECIAL ED TEACHER): Juvenile Detention, Superior Court of Arizona, Mohave County. Kingman, AZ. Duties: Performs professional and administrative work in the basic and special education programs for students in the year round Goal Oriented Learning Development School in the Juvenile Detention Facility. Qualifications: Requires Bachelor’s Degree in Education or related field, current Arizona teaching certificate, and two years of increasingly responsible experience in developing curricula, group and/or individual lesson plans and teaching special and basic education. Experience working with special education and/or at-risk children and teaching endorsement in developmental disabilities is preferred. ELECTRONIC MONITORING TECHNICIAN: Social Services, District of Columbia Courts. Summary: The incumbent installs and removes electronic monitoring equipment in the probation office and in the homes of juvenile offenders. Performs community outreach. Duties: Provides troubleshooting support, monitors equipment malfunctions and makes technical adjustments to the electronic devices, as needed. Monitors compliance and reports curfew violations to the supervising probation officer. Maintains records and documentation of all monitoring related activities. Orientates clients regarding the use of equipment. Maintains inventory records, and orders and returns equipment, as needed. Performs general maintenance, cleans, services and maintains monitoring equipment. Qualifications: A high school diploma or GED and three (3) years of general office experience, preferably in a court, social services agency or other relevant setting. This position additionally requires the possession and maintenance of a valid motor vehicle operator’s permit and the ability to obtain a District of Columbia Government Vehicle License. JUVENILE SERVICES DIVISION MANAGER: Juvenile Services Department, Washington County, Oregon. Summary: Reporting to the Director of Juvenile Services, the Division Manager provides leadership, planning and mentoring to a successful and progressive staff dedicated to Admissions, Assessment, and Early Intervention Services which comprise the Intake Division. Qualifications: Four years of increasingly responsible technical or administrative juvenile justice program experience; including two years as a supervisor leading the work of others through training, performance evaluation; and college level training in counseling, social work, corrections, psychology, or a related field. QUALITY ASSURANCE SPECIALIST: Camden Vicinage, Superior Court of New Jersey. Duties: The New Jersey Judiciary is seeking two basic level administrative professionals to collect, input, and report data including, but not limited to, detention, detention alternatives, and Juvenile Delinquency; collaborate with Probation Division, Juvenile Justice Commission, Camden County Youth Center, and other relative agencies; review and ensure the quality assurance of data; collect and maintain case statistics; generate status reports; maintain and improve databases; maintain and distribute Quality Assurance Management Reports; conduct training; attend meetings; serve as a liaison; and perform related duties as required. RESEARCH ASSOCIATE I: National Center for Juvenile Justice, Pittsburgh, PA. Summary: A Research Associate is responsible for coordination and implementation of research projects. This position serves as an associate to Senior Research Associates and Chief of Research, if applicable, and requires knowledge of research and the juvenile and family court system as well as writing and leadership ability. A Research Associate has demonstrated research competence and serves as a consultant or advisor to lower level researchers and to programmers. A Research Associate may oversee the work of lower level researchers. Duties: Conduct literature searches and review existing research for relevance to project work. Write programmatic/procedural documents and technical briefs. Work with project director(s) to develop and implement project management timelines and tasks. CASA PROGRAM MANAGER: Superior Court of Arizona, Mohave County. Kingman, Bullhead City and/or Lake Havasu City, AZ. Summary: Under the general supervision of the Court Administrator this position oversees, manages and performs a variety of tasks associated with the day-to-day operations of the Mohave County Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) program. Duties: Specific duties include the recruitment, training, and evaluation of volunteers and the supervision of staff in the Kingman, Lake Havasu City and Bullhead City offices. The CASA Program Manager also serves as liaison to the State CASA Program office for Mohave County; represents CASA throughout Mohave County; develops a variety of public relations, public information and related functions; recruits potential volunteers; monitors and evaluates the work performed by CASA volunteers; manages the CASA budget and yearly expenditures; and prepares a variety of statistical and financial reports. SUPERINTENDENT – JUVENILE DETENTION CENTER: Marion Superior Court, Indianapolis, IN. Summary: Under the general supervision of Marion Superior Court, provides a safe and secure residential environment for detained youth.  Assists with the overall planning, organization, and programming of juvenile detention operations including staffing and supervision of students, security, personnel, and facilities.  Duties: Responsibilities include financial, personnel, programs, training, and maintenance of building/grounds with ancillary roles impacting medical clinic, school and food services.  Facilitates and encourages community outreach efforts to better educate and engage the community in developing new programs and resources. Qualifications: Master’s Degree from an accredited academic institution in Criminal Justice, Public Administration, Social Work, Counseling or a related field preferred. Must have the equivalent of eight years, increasingly responsible, full time experience in a community corrections or secure corrections capacity.  Minimum of four years administrative experience on the Deputy level or above preferably within a secure Juvenile Detention/Correctional Facility. Strong organizational and communication abilities, both written and verbal, with excellent public speaking skills required.  Advanced automation experience including working knowledge of computer applications in Microsoft Office Products. Proven experience/knowledge of: principles of personnel administration, security, industry standards, current trends and directions within juvenile corrections, innovative and evidence-based residential treatment programs, analysis of reports and statistics, and ethics and laws governing Detention Administration.  Salary: $80,000 (2008)

EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR: Harris County Juvenile Probation Department, Houston, TX. Duties: It is the responsibility of the Executive Director to develop and administer policies that will ensure the smooth operation of the Juvenile Probation Department, as well as compliance with State laws.  The Executive Director is responsible for managing a staff of approximately 1400 employees; supervision of about 5600 probationers monthly; overseeing the operation of six (6) juvenile detention facilities; and managing a budget of $95,000,000.00.  The Executive Director is under the supervision of the Harris County Juvenile Board. Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Public Administration, Social/Behavioral Science or related field, from an accredited university required, plus twenty (20) years of full time paid experience in the Juvenile Justice field or juvenile related agencies.  Additionally, ten (10) years (of the twenty) must demonstrate progressive management experience including supervising/directing programs, services and staff management. Salary: $145,202.00 (2008)

GUARDIAN AD LITEM PROGRAM COORDINATOR: Idaho Judicial Branch. Summary: The Guardian Ad Litem Program Coordinator is responsible for statewide leadership, program development and support, resource development, education and some training for local guardian ad litem (GAL) programs, consistent with the program standards in Idaho Juvenile Rule 35. Duties: Program and Resource Development: Support court appointed volunteer advocacy of abused and neglected children. Work in partnership with local GAL programs to develop and implement statewide strategies to: increase the number of GAL volunteers; increase number of abused and neglected children served by local GAL programs; increase public awareness of GAL/CASA programs; and, promote cultural competency. Develop statewide program procedures and policies and provide program direction. Write or assist with writing of grants to support work of local GAL programs. Conduct annual site visit to each GAL program to maintain program accountability and compliance with IJR 35 and National Court Appointed Special Advocate Association (NCASAA) standards. Coordinate at least two meetings per year for district program executive directors and appropriate others. Encourage and create opportunities for communication among GAL programs, Idaho Supreme Court Child Protection Committee and CASA Advisory Council. Supervise criminal records checks of program volunteers, staff and members of board of directors, pursuant to IJR 35 and ICAR 47. Work in partnership with local GAL programs to identify education and training needs.  Provide or secure local/statewide training for district GAL programs. CASA Advisory Council: Provide limited support for and attend meetings of CASA Advisory Council. Coordinate joint projects in support of local GAL programs. DUTIES: Under general direction of the court executive, manages the clerical operations of the Second District Juvenile Courts in Davis, Weber, and Morgan County. DIRECTOR OF JUVENILE COURT SERVICES: Grand Forks , ND . Summary: The Director of Juvenile Court Services is responsible for planning and directing all juvenile court services in the administrative unit. Supervises a large professional and clerical staff of 18 people covering 13 counties with offices in Grand Forks , Devils Lake , Bottineau, and Grafton engaged in providing juvenile court services and programs. Conducts informal adjustment proceedings and determines conditions of conduct; issues temporary custody orders, authorizes secure/non-secure detention, release of, or shelter care of juveniles. Develops procedures and implements programs and policies relating to juvenile court services consistent with directives established by the Juvenile Policy Board and the Supreme Court; and assesses and evaluates the impact of new and changing situations and recommends methods to address changing situations. Summary: Under general direction of the Circuit Court Administrator the Deputy Court Administrator, Juvenile Division, is responsible for all administrative aspects related to operation of the Juvenile Division including the Ingham County Youth Center .
