JUVENILE DETENTION OFFICER RECRUIT: Juvenile Detention. Kingman, AZ. Summary: Positions perform journey-level work involved in the care, welfare, custody, and control of juveniles. Qualifications: Requires high school diploma or equivalent, a minimum age of 21, prior experience working with juveniles, ability to work varied shifts in a secured facility OR any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved. PROGJECT SPECIALIST: Probation Officer, Mental Health Caseload, Office of Trial Court Services, Probation Services Division, Administrative Office of the Courts. Summary: Under the administrative direction of the Chief of Adult Probation Services and the operational supervision of the Vicinage Chief Probation Officers, the selected candidate will supervise a small specialized caseload of probation clients with mental health needs. The selected candidate will assist these clients in attaining specific goals to successfully complete their probationary term. This individual will also assist in identifying and addressing clients’ psychological, vocational and economic needs, and will monitor their compliance with court-ordered conditions. Qualifications: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree in the Behavioral or Social Sciences. Salary: $44,914 - $76,395 (2011).

CHIEF PROBATION OFFICER: Superior Court of Arizona, County of Mohave. Summary: Under administrative direction of the Presiding Superior Court Judge and the Presiding Juvenile Superior Court Judge, the Chief Probation Officer is responsible for directing, planning, and organizing the administrative functions and activities of the combined adult and juvenile Probation Department in Mohave County. Qualifications: Master’s degree in business, management, the social sciences or a related field from an accredited college or university, ten years experience in the field of corrections or probation, or working with offenders or delinquents in some equivalent capacity, with at least five years of progressively increasing responsibility in an administrative supervisory capacity. Salary: $2,939 - $3,940/biweekly (2011).

COURT SERVICES 1: Office of Trial Court Services, Probation Services Division, Juvenile Intensive Supervision Program, Administrative Office of the Courts. Camden, NJ. Duites: Under the direction of the Regional Supervisor, the selected candidate will assist JISP case supervision officers (Court Services Officer 3) in verifying curfews, treatment, school and community service attendance, conducting interviews, writing assessment reports and performing other duties as required. The selected candidate must assist the JISP supervision officers in identifying educational, vocational, treatment and employment opportunities while monitoring participants for compliance with the program conditions and providing necessary referrals to programs for assistance. The selected candidate must be ableto handle a variety of technical and client support functions in addition to assisting program participants in attaining specific rehabilitative goals that facilitate the successful completion of the Juvenile Intensive Supervision Program. COURT SERVICES SUPERVISOR 2: Superior Court of New Jersey, Hudson Vicinage, Probation Division, Adult Supervision. Summary: The Hudson Vicinage currently has two exciting positions for a Court Services Supervisor 2 located in the Probation Division in the Adult Supervision Unit. Under the direction of the Court Executive 2B (Vicinage Chief Probation Officer) and/or Court Executive 1B (Vicinage Assistant Chief Probation Officer), the selected candidate will supervise and coordinate the diversified work activities of a team, composed of professional, para-professional and clerical support personnel. Duties: Instructs, coaches and evaluates team members on work-related matters providing candid feedback in a constructive manner; regulates flow of work in accordance with operating schedules; and directs work between units or teams. The selected candidate will embrace change; provide direction for achieving organizational, unit and project goals in a positive and enthusiastic manner. PROBATION COUNSELOR I: Municipal Court. Seattle, WA. Summary: This position performs out-of-custody and/or in-custody probationary services for individuals who have been sentenced by the Municipal Court. Position is exempt from Civil Service and serves at the discretion of the Presiding Judge. Duties: Maintain caseload of probationers with offense types such as DUI, Negligent Driving, Assault, and Domestic Violence. Assess, motivate, counsel, and monitor probationers with a wide variety of problems including but not limited to substance abuse and addiction, mental health issues, sexual deviance, and domestic violence issues to ensure compliance with Court-ordered conditions. Work actively towards the integration of the probationer into the community using community resources. Conduct pre and post-sentence investigation interviews and evaluations of defendants charged with misdemeanor offenses. Required to collect urine samples for urinalysis in laboratory specimen cup. Determine appropriate counseling or treatment plan based on risk and needs assessment, refer probationer to appropriate agency, and provide crisis intervention and referral, if needed. Establish timeframes for completing specific conditions, determine probationer’s ability to comply with conditions and adapt specific monitoring provisions. Manage caseload using an automated case management system that records, tracks, documents, and audits activity. Monitor and assess probationer’s compliance with Court-ordered conditions which includes regular contact with defendant, attorneys, Seattle Police Department, employers, treatment providers, Court, and community agencies. Supervision may include home visits and other community-based work. Prepare and maintain a variety of reports and files including pre-sentence, review, status, or dismissal reports, written assessments and recommendations concerning alternative forms of sentencing, treatment, custody release, and supervision, which are consistent with applicable laws, policies and procedures. Appear in court when required to testify and present findings. Make community/site visits to collateral agencies and treatment providers as needed. Qualifications: A minimum of a bachelor of arts or bachelor of science degree that provides the necessary education and skills in dealing with complex legal and human issues, as well as competence in making decisions and using discretionary judgment. JUVENILE DETENTION OFFICER SUPERVISOR: Juvenile Detention, Mohave Superior Court. Kingman, AZ. Summary: Under general supervision, serves as a working supervisor of a shift in overseeing, supervising and performing a variety of functions associated with the operation of the Mohave County Juvenile Detention Center. Qualifications: A high school diploma or GED AND three (3) years of relevant, progressively responsible law enforcement, detention, probation, corrections or closely related experience that includes one (1) year of management and/or supervision OR any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved. PROBATION SURVEILLANCE OFFICER I: Department of Probation, Mohave Superior Court. Lake Havasu City, AZ. Summary: Under general supervision, undertakes and performs a variety of entry level tasks associated with the surveillance of adult and juvenile probationers and the supervision and oversight of work crews assigned to perform community restitution as a condition of probation. Qualifications: Requires high school diploma or GED and two years of relevant, progressively responsible law enforcement, criminal justice, military, community service program work experience including six months of management or supervisory related experience OR any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved. Summary: Deputy Probation Officers are responsible for the supervision and investigation of adult or juvenile offenders. Duties: This involves reviewing and investigating cases, interviewing offender and families, preparing court reports and recommendations, and supervising adult and/or juvenile probationers. Qualifications: Successful applicants must be 21 years of age and must possess a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university preferably in the behavioral or social sciences, a valid Arizona driver’s license and be of good moral character. COURT SERVICES AND PROBATION OFFICER: McHenry County Court Services and Probation, 22nd Judicial Circuit. Summary: Oversees all aspects of the McHenry County Court Services and Probation Department by performing the following duties. Duties: Provide direction in all phases of operation of the McHenry County Probation and Court Services which includes; the achievement of goals; to develop, implement, maintain and evaluate the total program; to disseminate information to those responsible for the direction of the 22nd Judicial Circuit; and direct fiscal control of court related services within the 22nd Judicial Circuit of McHenry County. With the aid of staff input, develop a written philosophy and guidelines pertaining to the criminal justice system, probation and the achievement of realistic goals in the 22nd Judicial Circuit of McHenry County. Direct the ongoing established program; to provide leadership, ideas and support for effective and innovative methods of delivery; to provide staff with appropriate literature, outside consultants and encouragement; to direct supervision of individual department chiefs; and to encourage maximum usage of community resources for treatment and/or training. Prepare and submit a completed budget for the McHenry County Department of Court Services each year anticipating any changes or additions; to appear before the liaison committee to submit and explain said budget; and to give direction and supervision of fiscal controls including the preparation of budgets, bookkeeping methods, fiscal and programmatic reporting, purchasing and general management. Develop levels and standards of professional competencies; to supervise the implementation of programs and standards; to evaluate on a regular periodic basis each staff member; to develop efficient lines of communication; and to encourage ideas and input. Seek and accept opportunities to interpret programs to the public through the use of newspapers, television, radio and speaking engagements for the chief probation officers, staff and judiciary. Give leadership and encouragement to local citizen groups in their efforts to develop local prevention and correction programs; and to relate to and coordinate with existing community programs from which the circuit requires service. Make available to the chief judge, circuit judges and the trial court administrator, on a periodic and systematic manner, pertinent reports pertaining to staff activities, program development and fiscal matters; Attend all Audit and Department of Court Services Committee meetings, and as many conferences as possible pertaining to rehabilitation and/or probation. Qualifications: A master's degree in management, public administration, criminal justice, or social services, and five or more years employment in probation/court services; at least three of which are at a supervisory or administrative level; or A bachelor's degree and seven or more years of employment in probation/court services, at least four of which are at a supervisory or administrative level. Complete a minimum of forty hours training in public administration and probation or related management. This may be completed within the first year of employment. (2010).

DISPROPORITIONATE MINORITY CONTACT/JUVENILE DETENTION ALTERNATIVES/MODEL DELINQUENCY COURT COORDINATOR: Pima County Juvenile Court Center. Tucson, AZ. Summary: Under the direct supervision of the Juvenile Court Administrator, the Disproportionate Minority Contact/Juvenile Detention Alternatives/Model Delinquency Court Coordinator will coordinate and oversee all aspects of Pima County Juvenile Court’s Disproportionate Minority Contact/Juvenile Detention Alternatives/Model Delinquency Court Initiatives, which includes working with the Disproportionate Minority Contact/Juvenile Detention Alternatives Initiative/Model Delinquency Court Executive Committee (Executive Committee) to develop and implement the goals and objectives of the initiatives, promote working alliances between judges, prosecutors, defense counsel, law enforcement, probation, detention, service providers, and the community, and serve as a liaison between the Executive Committee, Pima County Juvenile Court Center (PCJCC), The W. Haywood Burns Institute, the National Council of Juvenile and Family Court Judges, and the Annie E. Casey Foundation.  The incumbent will be expected to devote his or her efforts to working with Court Administration, the Judiciary, and the Executive Committee and other stakeholders, and to program development and implementation. Duties: Oversees and promotes all aspects of the Court’s Disproportionate Minority Contact/Juvenile Detention Alternatives/ Model Delinquency Court Initiatives. Serves as a liaison between the Executive Committee and PCJCC, between PCJCC and the W. Burns Institute, the National Council of Juvenile and Family Court Judges, and Annie E. Casey Foundation. Establishes and maintains a positive and effective working relationship with community members to promote and implement DMC/JDAI/MDC programs. Establishes and maintains an active and effective working relationship with the Judiciary, probation, detention and other divisions within the PCJCC. Provides training to internal PCJCC staff and external stakeholders relating to the Disproportionate Minority Contact/Juvenile Detention Alternatives/Model Delinquency Court initiatives. Assists the Judiciary, Court Administration, and Executive Committee in developing goals and objectives and in developing and implementing policy. Supports the Judiciary, Court Administration, and Executive Committee membership by participating in meetings and related activities. Coordinates Executive Committee meetings. Coordinates and facilitates work groups to accomplish goals and objectives. Oversees the development and implementation of Disproportionate Minority Contact/Juvenile Detention Alternatives/ Model Delinquency Court programs, in conjunction with Judicial officers, Court Administration, and  the Executive Committee. Coordinates tracking and collection of relevant data for analysis. Analyzes relevant data and drafts reports to appropriate parties. Conducts research into appropriate detention alternatives, Model Delinquency Court, and DMC. Presents reports, data, and other information at public meetings, PCJCC meetings, media, and other forums. Maintains contact with the Executive Committee, Court Administration and Judicial officers between meetings and follows up on requests from Executive Committee and PCJCC. Develops and manages the Disproportionate Minority Contact/Juvenile Detention Alternatives/ Model Delinquency Court Initiative budgets. Manages Disproportionate Minority Contact/Juvenile Detention Alternatives/ Model Delinquency Court Initiative related grants and related contracts. Assists PCJCC and Executive Committee to identify potential funding sources for Juvenile Detention Alternatives Initiative, Model Delinquency Court and DMC programs. Attends Juvenile Detention Alternatives Initiative or DMC conferences, as requested. May supervise, train, and evaluate the performance of assigned staff. Performs related projects and duties as assigned. Qualifications: A Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, liberal arts, or a related field and a minimum of five years of substantive, professional-level juvenile justice experience, with a minimum of one year of experience in both program development/project management and facilitation of multi-disciplinary planning or workgroups. EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR JUVENILE PROBATION DEPARTMENT: Harris County, TX. Summary: It is the responsibility of the Executive Director to develop and administer policies that will ensure the smooth operation of the Juvenile Probation Department, as well as compliance with State laws. Duties: The Executive Director is responsible for managing a staff of approximately 1400 employees; supervision of about 5600 probationers monthly; overseeing the operation of five (5) juvenile detention facilities; and managing a budget of $100,000,000.00. Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Public Administration, Social/Behavioral Science or related field, from an accredited university required, plus twenty (20) years of full time paid experience in the Juvenile Justice field or juvenile related agencies. Additionally, ten (10) years (of the twenty) must demonstrate progressive management experience including supervising/directing programs, services and staff management. Salary: $145,202 (2010).

PROBATION OFFICER ASSISTANT: U.S. District Court, Eastern District of Michigan. Summary: Probation officer assistants serve in a judiciary law enforcement position, under the direction and guidance of a supervisor, provide technical support and assistance to probation officers in a wide range of areas, including assisting with compiling information for investigations; assisting with and supervising offenders; preparing and drafting reports and correspondence; and similar duties. Duties: Under the guidance and direction of an officer, supervise selected caseloads offenders, which may include placing telephone calls, making home/office contacts, and community/field contacts, as well as maintaining files and case records. Conduct investigations and prepare pre-release/furlough, collaterals, and violation reports; which may include placing telephone calls, making home/office contacts, and community/field contacts, as well as maintaining files and case records. Observe and report to supervisors on the lifestyle, personal problems, and needs of offenders/defendants. Assist probation services officers in the performance of investigations, including: compiling criminal histories/profiles, running record checks through local and national databases and files, conducting inquiries with collateral agencies, and similar activities. Visit or contact various local, state, and national law enforcement and regulatory agencies to collect and record information. Provide officers with verifiable and supportable documentation to assist in completion of probation reports. Assist in the development of community resources to meet the special needs of offenders. Collect and conduct urinalysis tests of offenders, following established procedures and protocols. Maintain paper and computerized records of test results. Inform officers regarding test results. Maintain chain of custody of urinalysis testing materials. Maintain inventory of supplies. Enter data and information into the office’s computerized database system. Testify, as necessary, before the Court or Parole Commission. Participate in on-going training programs and have a working knowledge in outcome driven evidence based practices. Qualifications: To qualify for the position of probation officer assistant a person must have earned a minimum of an associates degree. Must have one (1) year of specialized experience (progressively responsible clerical or administrative experience requiring the regular and recurring application of clerical procedure that demonstrate the ability to apply a body of rules, regulations, directives, or laws and involve the routine use of specialized terminology and automated software and equipment for word processing, data entry or report generation). Salary: $42,960 - $68,795 (2009).

US PROBATION OFFICER: US District Court, Eastern District of Michigan. Detroit, MI. Summary: Probation officers serve in a judiciary law enforcement position and promote community safety, gather information, supervise persons on probation, supervised release, and parole, interact with collateral agencies, prepare reports, conduct investigations, and present recommendations to the Court. Duties: Conduct investigations and prepare reports for the Court with recommendations, which requires interviewing offenders/defendants and their families, as well as collecting background data from various sources. An integral part of this process is the interpretation and application of policies and procedures, statutes, Federal Rules of Criminal Procedures, and may include U.S. Sentencing Guidelines, Monographs, and relevant case law. Enforce court-ordered supervision conditions and implement supervision strategies. Maintain personal contact with defendants and offenders. Investigate employment, sources of income, lifestyle, and associates to assess risk and needs. Address substance abuse, mental health, domestic violence, and similar problems and implement the necessary treatment or violation proceedings, through assessment, monitoring, and counseling. Collect and conduct urinalysis tests of offenders/defendants, following established procedures and protocols. Maintain paper and computerized records of test results. Maintain chain of custody of urinalysis testing materials. Respond to judicial officer’s request for information and advice. Testify in court as to the basis for factual findings and (if warranted) guideline applications. Serve as a resource to the Court. Maintain detailed written records of case activity. May conduct surveillance and/or plain view seizure at the direction of the Court. Investigate and analyze financial documents and activities and take appropriate action. Interview victim(s) and provide victim impact statements to the court. Ensure compliance with Mandatory Victims Restitution Act. Conduct presentence investigations and respond to any objections. This may include resolving disputed issues and presenting unresolved issues to the Court for resolution. Assess offenders’/ defendants’ level of risk and needs, and develop a blend of strategies for controlling and correcting risks. Communicate with other organizations and persons (such as the U.S. Parole Commission, Bureau of Prisons, law enforcement, treatment agencies, and attorneys) concerning offenders’/defendants’ behavior and conditions of supervision. Identify and investigate violations and implement appropriate alternatives and sanctions. Report violations of the conditions of supervision to the appropriate authorities. Prepare written reports of violation matters, and make recommendations for disposition. Testify at court or parole hearings. Conduct Parole Commission preliminary interviews. Qualifications: To qualify for entry at Classification Level 27, candidates must have a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in fields of study such as criminal justice, criminology, psychology, sociology, human relations, business, or public administration and two years of specialized experience. Salary: $49,923 - $81,119 (2009).

JUVENILE DETENTION TEACHER (SPECIAL EDUCATION TEACHER): Juvenile Detention. Kingman, Arizona. Summary: Performs professional and administrative work in the basic and special education programs for students in the year round Goal Oriented Learning Development School in the Juvenile Detention Facility. Qualifications: Requires Bachelor’s Degree in Education or related field, current Arizona teaching certificate, and two years of increasingly responsible experience in developing curricula, group and/or individual lesson plans and teaching special and basic education. Experience working with special education and/or at-risk children and teaching endorsement in developmental disabilities is preferred. COURT SERVICES SUPERVISOR 2 (Team Leader, Supervising PO): Burlington Vicinage, Probation Division, Supervision Services Unit, Juvenile Team. Mount Holly, NJ. Summary: The Burlington Vicinage seeks a motivated, organized, and self-directed individual to serves as a Court Services Supervisor 2 in the Probation Division. Duties: Under the general direction of the Court Executive IB (Vicinage Assistant Chief Probation Officer), the successful candidate will monitor, assign, coordinate, evaluate, review, lead and supervise the work activities and staff resources of a team consisting of professional employees who are responsible for enforcing orders of the Court. This position is responsible for assigning workloads and specific duties to staff or team members; directing and coordinating work between units or teams; communicating human resource policies, rules or regulations to team members; scheduling team members work hours or vacation time; conducting formal work performance evaluations with staff; evaluating unit or team performance; overseeing special projects; mediating staff conflicts; reviewing and correcting work of staff and checking written reports for accuracy and completeness. Develops and formulates procedures and/or practices to ensure efficient operations. Performs related work as required. Qualifications: Strong communication skills and the ability to interact with community leaders and organizations is a plus.
