SPECIAL CIVIL PART OFFICER: Superior Court of New Jersey, Special Civil Part, County of Cumberland. Bridgeton, NJ. Summary: The Superior Court of New Jersey, Cumberland, will appoint a Special Civil Part Officer to serve summonses and complaints in landlord/tenant actions and perform lockouts in eviction cases as ordered by the court. The officer will serve post-judgment papers issued by the court and will post and conduct sales of goods and chattels.  Court officers must often make multiple attempts to effect service of process.  All of the court officer’s activities must comply with the time restrictions contained in Part VI (Special Civil Part) of the New Jersey Rules of Court and the Administrative Directives. Salary: Based on commission and fees only. Qualifications: Appointee will have completed a minimum of 60 college credits with no less than 15 credits in criminal justice, business law or accounting or fulfill at least one of the following: (1) Employed full-time no less than two years by an officer/process server of a New Jersey court or by a bonded collection agency in State of New Jersey in a managerial capacity or (2) Employed full-time no less than two years as a police officer, probation officer, sheriff’s officer or equivalent in the State of New Jersey and performed duties that were investigative in nature or (3) Employed or appointed for no less than three years by a New Jersey court in the capacity of clerk attendant, sergeant-at arms, etc. Bond requirement proof of $50,000 (2012).

SUBSTANCE ABUSE EVALUATOR: Superior Court of New Jersey, Union Vicinage, Criminal Division. Duties: Under the general direction of the Criminal Division Manager or designee, the selected candidate will schedule and conduct interviews with clients (defendants/litigants) with potential substance abuse problems; develop client histories, including family, social, educational, employment, criminal, mental health, medical, substance abuse and treatment backgrounds as they relate and/or contribute to addictive behavior; produce written and verbal reports on the assessment or progress in treatment to the court or court staff as requested, consistent with applicable laws and court rules of the referring court; refer clients to appropriate treatment programs, and arrange for placement when needed, conferring with treatment providers to track client participation and progression in treatment; participate in the case management of the client; operate electronic or manual information systems as required including any applicable automated assessment programs or mainframe databases; visit and evaluate treatment facilities and maintain liaison with these facilities for referral purposes; conduct drug testing, collect samples or specimens to test, utilizing proven test procedures as part of the assessment process, as ordered by the court or as needed; conduct training programs for judges and vicinage staff on the effects and identification of drug abuse and treatment options and develop substance abuse assessments and treatment recommendations to assist judges in arriving at appropriate case dispositions. Qualifications: Possession of a valid New Jersey certification as a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CACD). Applicants who possess the credential as a Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LCADC) are considered to have met this requirement. Salary: $53,445 - $90,418 (2011).

Duties: The selected candidates will operate Xerox Docutech, offset printing machines, folder/sealer and varied machines used in the development, production and assembly of forms, booklets, and assorted graphic material.   Additional duties will include organizing assigned technical offset printing, and operating and performing routine maintenance on varied machines.  The Printing Operations Technician 2 should possess computer skills with capability to access information from computer networks.  Qualifications: Completion of a vocational, technical or specialized training program in graphic and printing communications with course work including printing techniques, copy preparation, composition and layout and graphic art. COURT AIDE: Superior Court of New Jersey, Cape May/Atlantic Counties, Civil Division. Atlantic City, NJ. Duties: Announces the judge, stays with the jurors during a court proceeding, make certain the court room is ready, make certain the judge has all of the parties in the court room before the case starts and gets equipment for the cases. Qualifications: Ability to walk short distances to direct jurors. Good communication skills. Salary: $12.20/hr (2011).

ADMINISTRATIVE SPECIALIST 4: Office of Attorney Ethics, Supreme Court of New Jersey, Administrative Office of the Courts. Ewing, NJ. Summary: The New Jersey Judiciary Office of Attorney Ethics is seeking a motivated individual who works well under time guidelines to conduct field and office investigations into the conduct of attorneys who are members of the New Jersey bar. Duties: The selected individual will also gather evidence, interview witnesses; prepare accurate detailed reports; analyze trust and business account records, and assist in preparing and planning for proposed witnesses in formal ethics proceedings. Qualifications: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s Degree. Five years of professional experience in program development, coordination, program analysis, program administration or administrative research. Salary: $62,728 - $102,435 (2011).

SUBSTANCE ABUSE SCREENER: Phoenix, AZ. Summary: Substance Abuse Screeners conduct court-ordered screening and assessments related to driving under the influence (DUI); substance abuse, domestic violence assaults, and other misdemeanor criminal offenses. Duties: Incumbents also assess the type and level of education or treatment required; refer clients to proper program assignment; document and maintains case file records; monitor client’s compliance status; and prepare non-compliance and pre-sentence reports for court. Employees in this class who are skilled in a second language may be called upon to utilize that skill in the routine performance of their duties. Qualifications: Two years of experience in the clinical assessment and treatment of substance abuse, mental health and domestic violence OR 120 documented hours of training in the clinical and treatment of substance abuse. A bachelor’s degree in behavioral science field. An equivalent combination of related experience and education may be considered. Salary: $38,501 - $56,514 (2011).

WAREHOUSE MANAGER: Administrative Services, District of Columbia Courts. Landover, MD. Summary: Incumbent is responsible for supervising and providing direction for the staff assigned to the Warehouse and Supply Room operations. Duties: Maintains an accurate inventory of accountable and controllable property in accordance with established Court guidelines. Analyzes the quantity and frequency of the receipt, distribution and the delivery of office supplies to the various Court Divisions, to establish levels and replenishment needs for items. Responsible for property management to include receiving, classifying, inventorying, placement, disposal and transfer of equipment and furnishings between the Warehouse and Supply Rooms; ordering and maintaining adequate inventory of expendable items; and supervising and managing contract labor as required by the Courts. Maintains an inventory tracking system to monitor supply usage by Division; adjusts ordering schedules and inventory accordingly and produces reports on goods received. Supervises deliveries from commercial vendors of the Warehouse and tracking shipments to the loading dock electronically, to receipt by end users and/or Supply Room. Ensures proper office supply inventory management. Prepares a monthly cost, an annual cost and available supply balance report for each Division. Prepares formal and informal reports as necessary to maintain accurate forecasting and inventory management. Instructs employees in specific tasks, specialized equipment and job techniques and makes available written instructions, reference materials and supplies. Develops and/or recommends new or revised local directives, policies, and implementing instructions. Resolves simple informal complaints. This position requires the ability to lift objects weighing 50 lbs or more and the ability to move furniture. Qualifications: A Bachelors degree plus one year of experience in warehouse management or high school diploma or G.E.D. and at least give years of warehouse inventory experience including two years of supervisor experience or three years of management experience with increasing responsibility or four years of consistent tem leadership experience. Salary: $51,630 - $67,114 (2011).

HEARING OFFICER: San Bernardino Superior Court. Summary: The incumbent will act in a quasijudicial capacity to adjudicate cases filled pursuant to the California Small Claims Code and specified sections of other state codes. Day to day supervision is provided by Supervising Judge and Court District Manager of the district of the officers' primary assignment and are responsible to the Presiding Judge. Duties: Service in a quasi-judicial position at the pleasure of the Presiding Judge.  Hear, evaluate and make disposition on cases filed pursuant to the California Small Claims Code. Hear, evaluate and make disposition on cases or claims filed pursuant to specified section of other state codes. Submit reports on disposition of cases to the District Manager or Presiding Judge as directed. Travel to all Court Districts as needed by the Court to conduct hearings. Qualifications:  Admission to practice law in the state of California for a period of not less than ten (10) years or in any other state and in California for a combined period of not less than ten (10) years. Candidates must be active members in good standing in the California State Bar. Salary: $99,756 (2011).  

DEPUTY DIRECTOR: Executive Office for Immigration Review (EOIR). Alexandria, VA. Summary: The Deputy Director supports the Director, EOIR, in the overall management of all agency personnel and resources.  Three adjudicative components serve EOIR’s primary mission.  The Office of the Chief Immigration Judge (OCIJ) which is responsible for managing approximately 270 immigration judges who render decisions on individual cases in 59 immigration courts located throughout the United States.  The Board of Immigration Appeals (BIA) has nationwide jurisdiction to hear appeals of decisions made by immigration judges or certain officers of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).  The Office of the Chief Administrative Hearing Officer (OCAHO) adjudicates immigration-related employment cases.  Duties: The Deputy Director supports the Director, who is responsible for overall management of all agency personnel and resources, and represents the position and policies of the EOIR to the Attorney General, the Deputy Attorney General, Members of Congress, other governmental bodies, the news media, the bar, and private groups interested in immigration matters. Qualifications: The Office of Personnel Management (OPM) is required by law to review the executive qualifications of each new career appointee to the Senior Executive Service (SES) prior to appointment.  To be considered for this position, applicants must submit a written statement addressing the five (5) ECQs and the five (5) Mandatory Technical Qualifications listed below. CHAIRMAN OF THE BOARD OF IMMIGRATION APPEALS: Executive Office for Immigration Review, U.S. Department of Justice. Alexandria, VA. Summary: Under authority delegated by the Attorney General of the United States, EOIR interprets and administers federal immigration laws through the conduct of immigration court proceedings, appellate reviews, and administrative hearings. Duties: The Chairman of the BIA is responsible for overall management of all Board personnel in the execution of their duties under 8 CFR Part 3.  The BIA has nationwide jurisdiction to hear appeals of decisions made by immigration judges or certain officers of the DHS.  Central to the Board=s role is the issuance of precedent decisions interpreting complex immigration laws and providing nationwide guidance to the immigration courts, DHS, and the private bar. The majority of appeals reaching the Board involve orders of removal and applications for relief from removal.  Other cases before the Board include petitions to classify the status of alien relatives for the issuance of preference immigrant visas, fines imposed upon carriers for the violation of immigration laws, and motions for reopening and reconsideration of decisions previously rendered.  In addition, the Board is responsible for the recognition of organizations and accreditation of representatives requesting permission to practice before DHS, the immigration courts, and the Board. JUDICIARY CLERK 2 (CLERK DRIVER): Office of Management and Administrative Services, Office Services Unit, Administrative Office of the Courts. Trenton, NJ. Summary:  The selected individual would be responsible for operating a passenger vehicle or light duty truck or van to deliver mail and transport staff; make minor car repairs and adjustments; inventory and store materials, parts or supplies; record incoming or outgoing documents; and operate photocopying machines. Duties: Other duties include completing standard office or agency business forms; reporting equipment malfunctions to supervisors and repair persons; operating and adjusting office machines; obtaining necessary signatures on legal documents; computing simple numerical data; and perform other related duties. Qualifications: Possession of a driver’s license valid in the State of New Jersey and the ability to lift at least 50 pounds. Salary: $27,552 - $48,108 (2011).

SALES REPRESENTATIVE – COURT PROGRAMS: Duties: Primary focus is finding prospective customers, developing proposals and closing new customers to utilize the DDC driver improvement curriculum in the ticket division within their court systems. Aggressively move qualified opportunities through the business development life cycle and identify the decision makers to close new business. Present the NSC competitive advantages, core competencies, course options and product delivery options including classroom, self study, and online courses. Leverage your prior knowledge and relationships within the court system to establish contact with the appropriate decision makers. Update CRM with the new business development pipeline to allow for periodic review of sales pipeline. Fill pipeline with business opportunities where NSC and the prospective customer can build long term, mutually beneficial relationships. Work with NSC chapters, community colleges and training centers of the NSC to develop and implement court referral programs. Represent NSC in negotiation of contracts or other agreements with government agencies. Qualifications: The Sales Representative for our Court Programs should have at least 5 years of business development experience with key court administrators, judges and court personnel. PROBATE EXAMINER: Maricopa County, Probate and Mental Health Courts. Summary: Examiners review all guardianship conservatorship, and decedent’s estate administration to ensure compliance with statutory reporting requirements. Phoenix, AZ Salary: $38,251 - $47,008 (2011).

COURT INVESTIGATOR (COURT MONITOR): Maricopa County, Probate and Mental Health Courts. Phoenix, AZ Summary: The court monitor will oversee probate post appointment investigations. Members of the public and interested parties may report that a ward is being abused or exploited. The Court may order that the court monitor investigate the ward’s physical care, and in the case of a conservatorship, their financial records. Salary: $35,443 - $46,363 (2011).

INVESTIGATOR: Superior Court of New Jersey, Middlesex Vicinage. New Brunswick, NJ. Summary: Under direction, makes preliminary contacts and performs fact-finding investigations pertaining to the financial resources, residency and other circumstances concerning persons under court supervision, applying for assistance in the enforcement of child support decrees, assignment of counsel, release on recognizance, or for other benefits which require judicial determination. Qualifications: Two years of experience in casework involving the collection of facts, securing and verifying socioeconomic data, obtaining information by observing conditions, examining records, interviewing individuals, and preparing investigative reports of findings. Salary: $36,551 - $69,179 (2011).

JUVENILE DETENTION TEACHER: Mohave County Juvenile Detention Facility. Kingman, AZ. Summary: Performs professional and administrative work in the basic and special education programs for students in the year round Goal Oriented Learning Development School in the Juvenile Detention Facility. Qualifications: Requires Bachelor’s Degree in Special Education or related field, current Arizona Special Education teaching certificate, and 3 years of increasingly responsible experience in developing curricula, group and/or individual lesson plans and teaching special and basic education. Experience working with special education &/or at-risk children is desirable. Successful candidate must be able to successfully complete criminal history/background investigation (felony and misdemeanor convictions may be disqualifying depending upon the number, severity and recency) and a credit check. Offers of employment are conditioned upon the candidate’s successful completion of a polygraph and psychological examination. Salary: $1,559 - $1,636/bi-weekly (2011).

HELP DESK SUPPORT SPECIALIST: Jacksonville, FL. Summary: This is a new position created to perform end user support activities in chambers and all court units of the circuit court (local and remote locations in Alabama, Florida, and Georgia). The specialist will provide help desk, technical, and end user support and for performing all automation support services necessary to assist local end users in the performance of their jobs. Duties: Answer information technology (IT) help desk telephone and record calls for service; perform routine troubleshooting to correct customer’s problem and follow up until solution is found. Recommend or perform remedial actions to correct problems. Respond to inquiries concerning systems operation and diagnoses system hardware, software and operator problems. Instruct users in use of equipment, software and provide manuals as needed. Inspect personal computer equipment; prepare computer systems and peripherals for delivery to end users. Coordinate the repair and/or replacement of computer equipment such as computers, printers, or fax machines. Load, install or assist in installation of hardware and peripheral components such as monitors, keyboards, printers, and disk drives. Coordinate set-up and troubleshooting of audio visual equipment for teleconferences, presentations, and courtroom sessions. Travel within the Eleventh Circuit (Alabama, Florida, Georgia) and to remote sites as needed to provide automation support. Qualifications: A minimum of two years of experience with troubleshooting, repair and installation of automation hardware and software, including at least one year equivalent to work at CL 24 level.  Salary: $37,941 - $61,709 (2011).

COURT EXECUTIVE 3B: New Jersey Lawyers’ Fund for Client Protection, Administrative Office of the Courts. Trenton, NJ. Summary: The Director is the chief administrative officer of the Fund and is responsible for the overall management of the Fund’s staff. Duties: Assigned tasks include ensuring the efficient processing of all claims filed with the Fund; making recommendations to the Board of Trustees on the appropriate disposition of claims; overseeing the annual registration and assessment for New Jersey licensed attorneys and others; representing the Fund in appearances in court or other forums for recovery of claims paid from defalcating attorneys or collateral sources; and advising the Board in its formulation of policies regarding the operation of the Fund. The Director also serves as the representation of the Fund in its interactions with the Bar and other associations and entities as appropriate. Qualifications: Graduation from an American Bar Association approved law school. Five years of managerial experience, which shall have included: responsibility for the development and management of budgets, staff, information systems and administrative operations; development and implementation of programs, policies and procedures; and supervision of professional staff. Salary: $98,106 - $135,808 (2011).

CASE ANALYST (HOURLY): Office of Trial Court Services, Civil Practice Division, Office of Foreclosure, Administrative Office of the Courts. Trenton, NJ. Summary: The New Jersey Judiciary is actively seeking law school graduates and paraprofessionals for foreclosure files for accuracy case reviews. Duties: The selected candidates will perform specialized technical case analysis including review of foreclosure files for accuracy of appropriate mortgage documents and pleadings. Responsibilities will also include screening and reviewing foreclosure case files to help prepare cases for final disposition. The selected candidates (under the supervision of a managing attorney) will prepare writs, orders and other court documents, and establish and maintain effective working relationships with other Judiciary employees, legal professionals, vicinage trial court staff, title companies, pro se litigants, and the public. Qualifications: Graduation from an accredited college with an Associate’s degree as a Legal Assistant or in Paralegal studies. Two years of experience as a paralegal involving the preparation and/or review of drafts of contracts, briefs, motions, affidavits, or other legal documents and/or in the analysis of judicial decisions, legal opinions, rulings, memoranda, and/or other legal material in a law firm, legal tribunal, or organization where the primary function is research, enactment, enforcement, or litigation of legal matters. Salary: $27/hr (2011).

JUDICIARY CLERK 3: Supreme Court Clerk’s Office, Office of Bar Examiners, Administrative Office of the Courts. Trenton, NJ. Summary: The NJ Judiciary is seeking a highly motivated, well-organized, customer service oriented individual with office skills to provide a variety of administrative clerical and support functions for the Bar Admissions Unit of the Supreme Court. Duties: Under the direction of the supervisor, responsibilities include but are not limited to: working with bar applicants; preparing case files; utilizing and performing data entry on automated systems; providing and analyzing reports for distribution or action; composing non-routine correspondence; administering a bar exam site in February and July; maintaining accurate records and files; recording fee payments; document processing including MBE score transfer requests; file and perform other clerical and support functions in the unit as needed. Qualifications: One year of experience in an office environment performing a variety of clerical and support services to including keyboarding and one or more of the following: document or information processing, handling payments for fees, recording monies received, transcribing information, reconciling balances or accounts, scheduling meetings or appointments. JUVENILE DETENTION OFFICER RECURIT: Juvenile Detention – Kingman. Summary: Positions perform journey-level work involved in the care, welfare, custody and control of juveniles. Qualifications: Requires a high school diploma or equivalent, a minimum age of 21, prior experience working with juveniles, ability to work varied shifts in a secured facility OR any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have achieved. Salary: $14.55/hr (2011).

JUVENILE DETENTION ADMINISTRATOR: Juvenile Detention – Kingman. Summary: Under general supervision, oversees, manages, administers, and supervises all functions associated with the operation of the Mohave County Juvenile Detention Center. Qualifications: A Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, business administration, management, behavioral/social science or related field and five years of relevant, progressively responsible detention, probation, corrections, law enforcement or closely related experience dealing with juveniles in a custodial setting or the counseling and monitoring of juveniles. Must have two years of management and/or supervision OR any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills, and abilities have been achieved. Salary: $2,088-$2,192/biweekly (2011).

COMMUNITY RELATIONS COORDINATOR: Arizona Superior Court, Pima County, Superior Court Administration. Tucson, AZ. Summary: As directed serves as liaison and spokesperson for the court to the media and the public on court programs, processes and cases; develops and implements as directed programs to enhance the court’s relationship with the community; produces court publications as directed, and develops, executes and implements effective video, film, audio and other media projects. Duties: Advises the presiding judge and other judges, the court administrator and division directors regarding communications with the media. May serve as liaison, as requested or directed, between members of the bench and the media. Assists court administration in responding to information requests to comply with Supreme Court Rule 123. Assists judicial divisions with requests by media for camera coverage of court events. Prepares and releases information to the public and the media on topics such as the budget, goals and priorities of the court, and the procedures and practices involved in achieving these goals. Coordinates and facilitates the court’s public outreach programs including, for example, “Courts Are Us,” Law Day programs, the Courthouse Gallery, a speakers’ bureau, appearances at career days, presentations for court visitors and other appropriate programs. Develops, recommends, and implements as directed strategies and programs that provide comprehensive outreach to the citizens of Pima County. Serves as a member of the superior court website committee and other committees as assigned. Coordinates the production and distribution of the court’s newsletter, prepares the court’s annual report and other publications as directed, and coordinates the implementation of various surveys as requested. Develops and recommends the content, format and design of printed, audiovisual and electronic materials made available to the public such as annual reports, fliers, brochures, directories, videotapes, other publications and presentations. Takes pictures and videotape to augment written materials. Stays current on new and evolving technologies (and their uses) associated with the roles of the position, and advises court administration and the Presiding Judge on the appropriateness of those technologies in the court setting. Reviews publications and presentations produced by others related to court programs and practices for quality and appropriateness, and makes recommendations as appropriate.  Evaluates the communications effectiveness of court outreach programs, assesses program communication needs and makes modifications as necessary. Provides similar functions and services, as directed by the Presiding Judge, to the Juvenile Court Center. Summary: The Monmouth Vicinage is seeking a dynamic customer service individual to provide a variety of administrative and clerical services related to the vicinage Ombudsman program. Duties: Under the general direction of the Court Executive 1B (Ombudsman), the selected candidate will assist with customer service initiatives and special projects; facilitate court tours; maintain and update literature, packets and brochures; collect survey data and compile data onto spreadsheets; conduct research and provide information to the public. Other functions include conducting mailings, answering telephone inquiries; organizing files, and performing other related duties as required. Qualifications: Experience in an office environment and knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel is helpful. Excellent communication skills and strong interpersonal skills are also helpful. Experience working with diverse populations and ability to communicate in Spanish and English is helpful. Applicants selected to interview must pass an appointing authority administered examination to demonstrate keyboarding skills at the Judiciary standard of at least 25 wpm or must have otherwise demonstrated this competency as detailed below. RECORDS AND REPRODUCTION/MAIL CLERK: U.S. District Court, Northern District of Ohio, Cleveland, OH. Summary: The incumbent is a member of the District Court’s operations team and provides services to the bench, bar and public. This position is located in the Cleveland office reporting to the Operations Supervisor, ultimately reporting to the Clerk of Court. Travel between offices in Akron, Toledo, and Youngstown is required based on the operational needs of the Clerk’s office. Prepares and ships records to the appropriate Federal Records Center. Also retrieves records from centers when needed. Creates and reviews list to be sent to the Federal Records Center. Maintains automated case tracking systems for file location. Creates and maintains accession listing for all files at the Federal Records Center. Ensures files are complete and in numerical order. Removes non-archivable items from case files. Operates a variety of copying and records equipment. Maintain statistics on copy request information. Responsible for postage metering of outgoing mail. Jointly responsible for opening and recording of incoming court mail. Conduct civil and criminal record investigations. Qualifications: Candidate must be a high school graduate. Applicants will be required to lift a minimum of 25 pounds (volumes of case files, boxes to be archived, etc.). Skills and Experience: Excellent oral and written communication skills; exceptional ability to interact with individuals at all levels; thorough knowledge of general office procedures and filing systems; ability to maintain strict confidentiality and work under strict deadlines; experience using desktop applications such as WordPerfect, and operation of the copying and records equipment; dependability, reliability, and timeliness in the completion of assignments. COURT CLINICIAN I: Albuquerque, New Mexico. Summary: Under general supervision conducts clinical interviews, mediation, and assists with custody evaluation; writes parenting plans, treatment recommendations, and consultation reports; serves as section 11-706 expert witness for the court manages assigned cases. Qualifications: A masters degree in counseling, psychology or other mental health related field; 40 hours of mediation training in the area of families/custody disputes; licensure to practice in the State of New Mexico as a LPCC, LISW or LMFT; and three (3) years experience working with families and children in therapeutic setting. A licensed Ph.D. in psychology, counseling or other mental health related field may substitute for (2) years experience. Salary: 42, 946 annually. (2006)

SUPERVISOR 2: Print Shop, AOC, Trenton, New Jersey. Summary: The New Jersey Judiciary is seeking an individual to join the Management Services, Print Shop Services Unit. The selected candidate will review incoming service requests with customers to clarify the desired format of the finished product; determine due dates and relevant time constraints; assign priority for scheduling purposes; and determine production methods. The Supervisor 2 is responsible for the process by which each production step of each services request is distributed among staff; ensures the progress of service request for proper transition to each subsequent productions step; checks each job for proper quantity, format and copy quality; ensures that team members are in sync as work progresses from step to step; and perform related duties. Qualifications: Two(2) years of supervisory experience in an office environment overseeing a variety of clerical, administrative and support services. Experience in a print shop environment and/or electronic print job submission would be helpful. Salary: $40,082-$65,447. (2006)
