FACILITIES TECHNICIAN ASSISTANT: Capital Projects and Facilities Management, District of Columbia Courts. Washington, D.C. Summary: This position is located in the office of the Facilities Unit. It is designed to ensure that all court facilities are maintained in the highest of standards in their operation, maintenance and repair. Duties: Incumbent is responsible for assisting in implementation and coordination of maintenance, repair, and renovations for four Court-owned and leased facilities. Assists the Facility Manager in completing surveys and monitoring the conditions of Court-owned buildings with regard to interior repair and improvements. Develops standards and procedures to be used by various contractors in accordance with directives, building codes and applicable laws. Makes recommendations to Facility Manager for implementation of uniform interior design standards for various Court buildings. Conducts initial review and evaluates bids for compliance with specifications, tallies price quotations, identifies substitutes, records delivery dates, terms and discounts. Manages other tasks connected with the day-to-day administrative work and serves as office manager to ensure that the practices and procedure are consistent. Performs other related duties as assigned. Qualifications: A bachelor's degree in Public or Business Administration or a related degree, plus two (2) years of experience in facilities management or maintenance; or five (5) years of office general experience including two (2) years of experience in facilities management or maintenance. Salary: $50,408 - $60,531 (2009).

BUILDING MAINTENANCE MECHANIC: Capital Projects & Facilities Management Division. District of Columbia Courts, Washington, D.C. Summary: Incumbent is responsible for the operation, maintenance and repair of courts. Duties: Knowledge of the central air conditioning plant, the central heating plant and various steam reducing stations, air handling units, pumps, fans, and related equipment. Responsible for inspection and adjustment of HVAC components; monitoring and balancing of interior air flow and temperature; operation of computerized building control systems; location, diagnosis and correction of equipment malfunctions; monitoring and adjustment of chemicals used to treat various water systems; investigations of complaints regarding equipment, maintenance of daily log sheets recording equipment operations; and miscellaneous repairs and maintenance. Qualifications: A high school diploma or GED and at least five  years of experience in operations, maintenance and repair of central building HVAC systems. Candidates must also possess a District of Columbia A-8 Refrigeration License or a District of Columbia Class 6 Steam License, and a valid permit to operate a vehicle. Salary: $55,447 - $72,076. Summary: This position is located in the Building Operations Branch. The branch is responsible to ensure that all court facilities are maintained in the highest of standards in their operation, maintenance and repair. Duties: Incumbent is responsible for assisting in implementation and coordination of maintenance, repair, and renovations for Court-owned and leased facilities. Assists the Chief Building Engineering completing surveys and monitoring the conditions of Court-owned buildings with regard to interior repair and improvements. Monitors contractors’ compliance to standards and procedures in accordance with directives, building codes and applicable laws. Makes recommendations to Chief Building Engineer for implementation of uniform engineering maintenance standards for various Court buildings. Conducts initial review and evaluates bids for compliance with specifications, tallies price quotations, identifies substitutes, records delivery dates, terms and discounts. Manages other tasks connected with the day-to-day administrative work and serves as office manager to ensure that the practices and procedures are consistent. DEPUTY DIRECTOR OF COURT FACILITIES MANAGEMENT: New York Unified Court System. Summary: Under general direction of the Director of Court Facilities Management, the Deputy Director of Court Facilities Management is responsible for coordinating the alteration of existing court structures and for participating in the design, engineering, and construction phases of new court facilities, and performs other related duties. Duties: Plans and coordinates work schedules; assigns work and establishes completion dates; establishes training procedures and guidelines; trains subordinate staff; evaluates staff performance; develops work performance standards and reviews work for compliance with instructions and procedures. Supervises repair or alteration of existing facilities, including the establishment of relevant cost estimates. Compiles and maintains factual information on court facilities. Coordinates and supervises work performed by other government agencies or outside engineering and construction firms. Maintains progress charts and prepares reports on major work in progress. Reviews reports prior to submission to court administrators. Consults with judges, court personnel and representatives of outside agencies concerning facilities planning and management, and other related support services. Qualifications: Master`s degree in Architecture or Engineering from an accredited college or university and three (3) years of relevant experience.

SUPPLY/INVENTORY CLERK: District of Columbia Courts, Administrative Services. Washington, D.C. Duties: Incumbent performs clerical duties which include: assisting in the receipt of furniture, equipment and supplies; preparing forms and performing research on the value of surplus property being transferred to the DC Courts; and assisting in reconciling all property accounts to ensure that property received is inventoried. Incumbent also performs duties of a physical nature including: the delivery of furniture, equipment and supplies to the requisitioning office; moving and placement of all property currently within the DC Courts’ supply system; storing unused property; and assisting in the completion of inventories of fixed assets using bar coding and other technology. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications: A high school diploma or General Equivalence Diploma (G.E.D.) and at least two (2) years of general office experience. Must be physically able to lift or move items in excess of 50 pounds. This position additionally requires the possession and maintenance of a valid motor vehicle operator’s permit. LEAD OFFICE SUPPLY/INVENTORY CLERK: District of Columbia Courts, Administrative Services. Washington, D.C. Duties: The Lead Office Supply/Inventory Clerk performs multiple management duties which include, but are not limited to: personnel management; fiscal responsibilities pertaining to inventory maintenance such as preparation of an annual cost and available supply balance, distribution and reporting, operational management; and management of inventory facility. The Lead Office Supply/Inventory Clerk prepares requisitions for replenishment activities, oversees accurate cataloguing of office supplies, and implements office supply inventory management which includes inventory control, system design and maintenance. The Lead Office Supply/Inventory Clerk researches vendors for the most appropriate sources to be secured for the DC Courts. Qualifications: A high school diploma or General Equivalence Diploma (G.E.D.) and at least four years of administrative or clerical experience. Equivalents levels of education above high school can be substituted for experience on a year by year basis. For education credit submit a copy of your transcript/diploma. Must be physically able to lift or move items in excess of 50 pounds. This position additionally requires the possession and maintenance of a valid motor vehicle operator’s permit. Supplemental Ranking Factors: The following factors will be used to rate additional qualifications for the Lead Office Supply/Inventory Clerk, above the minimum qualifications required. MATERIALS MANAGEMENT SPECIALIST: Administrative Services, District of Columbia Courts. Washington, D.C. Duties: Incumbent is responsible for managing, regulating, coordinating, and exercising control over supplies, equipment, and other material e.g. furniture. Duties includes one or more phases of material management including initial planning, provisioning and requirements determination, acquisition and distribution, accountability, and ultimate issue for consumption, retention, and disposal. The incumbent is also responsible for the operations, coordination and control inventory and systems of inventory and supply management. Provides administrative support to senior management by producing reports, budgets, and supply utilization analysis. The position requires that the incumbent be able to walk extensively between buildings on the Court campus, as well as drive to field locations. Incumbent also performs duties of a physical nature including: standing, walking, bending, stooping, reaching, and similar activities in and around storage areas. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications: Seven years of experience in the operations, coordination and control of inventory and systems of inventory and supply management, as well as storage issues and disposal processes; or a bachelor’s degree in Public or Business Administration, or a related field, plus three years of experience in the operations, coordination and control of inventory and systems of inventory and supply management, as well as storage issues and disposal processes. Equivalent combinations of relevant education may be substituted for general experience on a year-to-year basis. Salary: $58,206-$90,698. (2008)

CUSTODIAL SUPERVISOR: Superior Court of California, County of Contra Costa. Summary: The Superior Court of Contra Costa County is recruiting to fill a Custodial Supervisor position. Under the direction of the Director, Court Facilities and/or the Facilities Services Manager, the Custodial Supervisor plans, organizes, supervises and coordinates the cleaning and maintenance of Court buildings and facilities and performs other related work as required. Duties: Plans, organizes, assigns, supervises, inspects and evaluates the work of subordinate custodial employees and contract custodial agencies; Trains custodial staff in appropriate methods to perform custodial duties in a safe, efficient manner, and ensures that staff follow the correct procedures; Inspects interior and exterior of buildings and facilities for appearance, cleanliness, and sanitary conditions; Orders and arranges delivery of  supplies and equipment and ensures that they are available as needed; Checks equipment for safety, and instructs personnel in the safe and proper use of custodial equipment; Ensures that the equipment is properly maintained, replaced, and available as needed; Meets with customers or Facilities Management to review service levels and to resolve complaints; Oversees window washing, recycling, and/or moving operations; Lifts and carries supplies and equipment which weigh in excess of 75 lbs; Responds promptly and accurately to job-related questions and complaints from subordinate employees and keeps higher level management informed of any potential problems; Prepares and maintains reports and records of maintenance problems, employee timekeeping, labor hours assigned; Works flexible hours in order to oversee both day and night shift staff. Qualifications: Three (3) or more years’ full time or its equivalent custodial experience in commercial, industrial or public agency, performing the full range of custodial duties, including the use of industrial vacuums, buffers, and rug cleaning equipment. One (1) year of the above experience must have been in a lead or supervisory position. OR Any combination of education and experience that provides the candidate with the requisite knowledge skills and abilities to perform the duties of the Custodial Supervisor. ADMINISTRATIVE SUPERVISOR 2: Superior Court of New Jersey, Counties of Atlantic and Cape May. Summary: Superior Court of New Jersey, Operations Division, is seeking a motivated individual to assist in directing and supervising the everyday operations of the court house in the coordination of jury Management, facility maintenance, telephone services, mail, records, transcripts and other assigned duties that fall within the scope of the Operations Division; recommend personnel actions such as hiring, firing and disciplining; determine staff training needs; instruct staff on work related matters; assign, regulate and review work/specific duties to staff in accordance with operating schedules; develop and manage operating budget, advise management of personnel issues; and treat all personnel, clients and the public with dignity and respect. Qualifications: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree. Three years of increasingly responsible technical experience, one year of which shall have included experience in purchasing, facilities management, or investigation. Applicants who do not possess the required education may substitute experience on a year-for-year basis. A master’s degree may be substituted for one year of general experience as indicated above. ADMINISTRATIVE SPECIALIST 2: Counties of Atlantic and Cape May, Superior Court of New Jersey. Summary: Atlantic County Superior Court seeks an Administrative Specialist 2 with excellent customer service and communication skills. This person will maintain work orders and fleet management and coordinate equipment requests for the courthouse. The incumbent will also provide sufficient signage so that the public can negotiate hallways and locate rooms; maintain electronic notification of the location of daily events. Regularly inspect the facility for cleanliness and repair condition recommending methods to enhance building appearance, purchase commodities, compile statistical data, recommend purchases of equipment, materials or supplies. Provide assistance to the telephone administration operation. Assist divisions in delivery of bulky, sensitive supplies and materials or the details of sequential events critical to renovations or relocation. Recommend improvements in the delivery of service; respond as directed by the divisions to all courthouse emergencies and emergency drills either during or after work hours; work effectively with the Purchasing, Information Technology and division staffs in insuring the smooth transition of equipment and staff. Assist General Operations staff as required by division, and perform related duties as required. Qualifications: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree. One year of technical experience in the area of program evaluation, administrative operations, program analysis or administrative research. ADMINISTRATIVE SPECIALIST 4: Superior Court of New Jersey, Camden Vicinage. Summary: Under the direction of Court Executive 2B (Operations Division Manager) and other supervisory personnel, the Judiciary is seeking a person with a broad background in construction or facilities. Primary responsibilities include the preparation of technical evaluations of facility projects; conduct quantitative and qualitative research; formulate plans for utilization of technical equipment; regulate the flow of work in accordance with operating schedules; act as a lead worker in assisting employees. This individual will also facilitate discussions among state and county officials regarding new construction, renovation repair and maintenance. Qualifications: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s degree. Five years of professional experience in Administrative Operations; purchasing, finance and facilities management. Applicants who do not possess the required education may substitute paraprofessional and professional experience for education on a year-for-year basis. A Master’s degree may be substituted for one year of experience. A law degree may be substituted for two years of experience. Salary: $54,180.62 - $84,438.98. (2006)

MARSHAL: Supreme Court of Florida. Summary: The Supreme Court Marshal is a constitutional officer and is the custodian of all property, building and grounds, and inventory, and is responsible for security, emergency preparedness, maintenance and facilities management, development and execution of the Court’s operational budget, purchasing and telephone communication services. The Marshal also has the power to insure the execution of the Court’s orders throughout the state. Qualifications: A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four year college or university and ten years of executive management experience and experience in security or law enforcement is required. Experience in strategic planning, budgeting, and facility management is necessary. Salary: $90,000 - $100,000. (2006)

FACILITIES/FURNITURE PROCUREMENT GENERALIST: Eleventh Circuit, U.S. Court of Appeals. Summary: The Facilities/Furniture Procurement Generalist reports to the Architect/Facilities Manager on projects assigned by the Assistant Circuit Executive for Space and Facilities. This is a full-time, temporary position for a period of up to two years which may become indefinite. Duties: Assists in the coordination of facilities renovations and interiors projects. Assists in preparation of plans and review of schedules for facilities interiors projects. Monitors progress on facilities maintenance projects and cyclical maintenance through site visits and telephone calls from initial design through task completion. Provides information on facility maintenance problems and cyclical replacement items, and coordinates correction with GSA or outside vendors for the Tuttle Court of Appeals Building and other court facilities as assigned. Assists with recommending to circuit court officials the quality, color, and design of furniture, window coverings, fixtures, and accessories in keeping with policy, regulations, budgetary considerations, and the end user’s personal preference. Assists by preparing space and furniture layouts for renovated space and new construction for judicial officers and court support offices using automated systems including word processing, spreadsheet, and project management applications, as well as CAD and manual drafting systems and related software applications. Prepares correspondence and conducts meetings with vendors’ representatives. Determines whether prices are fair and correct; determines if quality meets specification and performance standards. Locates sources of supplies for regular and emergency purchases in the shortest possible times span while adhering to procurement policies. Prepares and processes purchase orders. Reviews invoices regarding items purchased. Maintains and monitors purchasing records and reports. Monitors status of ongoing work assignments and maintains schedules. Contacts various vendors and discusses specific commodity requirements; negotiates costs, secures competitive bids, and issues purchase orders based on cost effectiveness. Acquires and maintains General Services Administration (GSA) and manufacturer’s catalogues and samples, submitting to GSA or vendors the necessary forms for furniture and furnishings acquisitions. Maintains an accounting of all moneys expended as well as the amount remaining in the current budget for furniture and furnishings. Prepares periodic reports of status of projects and/or funding requirements. Assists in the preparation of annual budget for furniture and furnishings. Assists and coordinates with the Custodial Officer who maintains the circuit-wide master personal property list which includes furniture. Qualifications: High school graduation, or the equivalent, plus three years specialized experience, including at least one year equivalent to work at CL26 level. Degree in architecture or related field experience desirable and CAD proficient (AutoCAD preferred). Progressively responsible experience that provides evidence that the applicant has (1) a good understanding of the methods and administrative machinery for accomplishing the work of an organization; (2) the ability to analyze problems and assess the practical implications of alternative solutions; (3) the ability to communicate with others, orally and in writing; and (4) the capacity to employ the knowledge, skills and abilities in the resolution of problems. Progressively responsible experience in an area related to architecture and/or furniture procurement which demonstrates an individual’s ability to perform the duties of this position. Excess specialized experience may be substituted for required general experience. FACILITIES MAINTENANCE WORKER: Judiciary of Guam, Administrative Office of the Courts. Summary: Performs manual labor and semi-skilled work in the maintenance of court building facilities and grounds which include but are not limited to construction and repair of electrical, mechanical, masonry, carpentry; the coordination and preventive maintenance of official vehicles; dispatching and record keeping of transactions. Qualifications: Graduation from high school or G.E.D. equivalent, plus three years of experience in the maintenance of building facilities and grounds, repair of structures, machinery, plumbing, electrical wiring and fixtures. Knowledge of the standard principles, methods, practices, techniques, tools, and equipment used in the maintenance and repair of building structures, machinery, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical equipment fixtures. Ability to dispatch the appropriate type of automotive equipment from a motor pool operation. Ability to apply safe work practices on the job. Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing. Ability to maintain records and prepare reports. Ability to work effectively with the public and employees. Salary: $19,974 (2006)

BUILDING MANAGER: New York Unified Court System. Summary: Under the direction of the Clerk of the Court, the Building Manager oversees maintaining the Court of Appeals building and grounds, courier service, and security in the Court of Appeals.  The Building Manager supervises and coordinates the twenty-four hours, seven days a week maintenance and security activities and performs other related duties. Duties: Manages maintenance of all mechanical, electrical, and plumbing equipment including steam boilers, electric motors, pumps, ventilating fans, air conditioning and electrical control units, intercom systems, switching relays, motor vehicles, and grounds equipment. Recommends, plans, and supervises changes to office space layouts, records storage, computer data storage, communications systems, and overall building additions, repairs, improvements and maintenance. Installs, maintains and upgrades computer and network wiring. Supervises courier service to outlying chambers and other courts. Determines work priorities; makes staff assignments; and monitors the progress of assignments. Screens and hires maintenance staff, trains, supervises, and evaluates their performance, and recommends promotions. Plans and coordinates routine and major masonry repairs, painting, carpentry, and renovation projects. Devises work schedules to ensure that building security is adequately maintained on a twenty-four hour, seven day a week basis. Develops equipment specifications and assists in evaluating vendor proposals. Makes repairs to equipment or obtains repair services. Assists Court in formulating purchasing policies and supervises purchase of general equipment, supplies, and replacement parts relating to building additions, improvements, repairs and maintenance. Qualifications: High school diploma or the equivalent; or eight years of work experience in building maintenance.
