EXECUTIVE ANALYST: Communication and Staff Education Analyst, Oregon Judicial Department. Duties: Typical job duties may include, but are not limited to, the tasks listed below.  Assigned tasks may be changed to accommodate work load and organizational needs. Independently perform a variety of duties including, but not limited to: Provide advice and consultation for ongoing professional development and communication activities, including regular education and communication on improving access to justice and enhancing public trust and confidence in the justice system.   Design, assess, create, deliver, and evaluate new and existing curricula for staff education programs from concept through evaluation utilizing concepts, theories, principles, and practices of adult learning. Facilitate groups with varied backgrounds, to initiate open dialogue and candid discussions, gather information and stimulate insight. Keep abreast of national trends in education in court-related as well as public and private sector environments. Qualifications: You must have a high school diploma, GED, or equivalent work or life experience. You must have a Bachelor’s degree, preferably with major course work in communication and/or education.  You must have at least three years of increasingly responsible communication and/or education work experience. A master’s degree may be substituted for one year of experience; a doctorate in education, law, public administration, or related field may be substituted for one year of experience. Applicants without the relevant educational background may substitute recent experience that demonstrates the above abilities on a year for year basis. Preference may be given to candidates with prior experience working in a court setting or developing and presenting education programs. Public sector (e.g. state, county, city) communication and/or education experience is desirable. You must be able to work effectively with persons from diverse backgrounds. CHIEF INFORMATION OFFICER: AOC in Augusta or Portland, Maine. Summary: The Maine Judicial Branch is seeking a Chief Information Officer (CIO).  This is responsible professional work planning and directing the Judicial Branch information program, including communication with the Legislative and Executive Branches of government. The CIO serves as primary liaison with the Legislature and the Governor’s Office; collaborates with a wide range of individuals in the development and implementation of plans for effectively sharing information including: the Maine legal community, legislative and executive leadership, the State of Maine Chief Information Officer, state agency representatives, and counterparts in other state AOCs; serves as or oversees the public spokesperson for the Judicial Branch; and directs the development and implementation of a comprehensive public information and information technology plan. Duties: The Chief Information Officer (CIO) applies the laws and court policies related to access to public information; ensures that the best available safeguards are implemented to protect information, and in particular, confidential case related information; provides staff with direction on the provision of court records and oversees implementation of records access policies; oversees the application of the Records Retention Program to ensure appropriate access to court records in compliance with applicable administrative orders and policies; ensures public access to court information through Judicial Branch website services and the State Court Library system; ensures information is made available to Judicial Branch employees through intranet services; and prepares and manages the portion of the Judicial Branch budget dealing with information systems. Qualifications: Graduation from an accredited four-year college with a degree in communications, government, information systems, public administration, public relations, or related field, significant experience in governmental or public relations, or other related management responsibilities.  Masters Degree or J.D. preferred.  Other requirements include: understanding of Maine government, the governmental budget process, and the legislative process; strong writing, communication, interpersonal, and supervisory and management skills; understanding of the capabilities of court technology to provide information with varying degrees of access; understanding of legal requirements surrounding the release of information; substantial project management experience; knowledge of functions and responsibilities of the Judicial Branch; ability to prepare and manage a complex budget; and strong computer and software skills; and ability to develop and maintain effective and cooperative relationships with judges / justices, court personnel, governmental officials, members of the news media, and the general public. DIRECTOR, INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY DIVISION/CHIEF INFORMATION OFFICER (CIO): IT Division, Office of the State Court Administrator, Oregon. Summary: The CIO provides technology leadership and vision for the Oregon Judicial Department (OJD). The CIO oversees policy development collaboratively sets priorities for investment, and leads strategic planning and implementation for enterprise information technology initiatives. Duties: The CIO is responsible for the technology planning and development processes and reporting requirements for the judicial branch. The advancement of technology in the judicial branch is facilitated through a central technology governance committee structure consisting of members representing the trial and appellate courts, administration, and the Oregon State Bar. The CIO is responsible for executing policy decisions made by the committee as affirmed by the Chief Justice and State Court Administrator, and for the proper planning, design, development, and execution of technological resources within the judicial branch to provide the judiciary with secure access to relevant information from multiple local, state, and federal sources. As the OJD’s CIO, the incumbent will ensure that information technology resource planning and execution takes place in a collaborative and coordinated manner through the OJD. In this role, the incumbent will lead OJD’s statewide enterprise IT strategic and tactical planning by identifying and ensuring that IT business requirements, strategic plans, and solutions are properly integrated with the overall mission and needs of the OJD. The incumbent will need a persistent enthusiasm for making technology helpful in pursuit of the agency’s mission. The incumbent will perform a significant customer service role in ensuring that enterprise services are provided in a timely manner, are of high quality, and meet the business needs of the appellate courts, trial courts, administration and other customers. The incumbent will anticipate and lead the organization through technological change to meet the business needs of the OJD. The CIO also represents the judicial branch, as assigned, on various court-related technology committees and projects on a state and national level. After-hours, weekend or holiday work, especially during the Legislative session, may be required. Workday and some overnight travel is required for court visits and meetings. The following equipment may be used: telephone, personal computer, and related technological work devices. Frequent phone and in-person contact with people from diverse backgrounds. You must have a valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record, or be able to provide an acceptable alternate means of transportation. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university (preferably in computer science, business, management information systems, or a related field) and a minimum of six years of progressively responsible management experience involving the application, analysis, development, or adaptation of computer information systems to complex and varied management functions. Additional, relevant management experience may substitute for the bachelor’s degree on a year-for-year basis or an advance degree may substitute for up to two years of management experience. PUBLIC INFORMATION OFFICER II: Administrative Office of the Courts, UT. Summary: The Administrative Office of the Courts is seeking an experienced Public Information Officer to develop, implement and maintain effective public and media relations programs for the Judicial Branch. Duties: Responds to public requests for information on court issues, prepares statements for release to the public, writes and edits brochures, forms, reports, newsletters, etc., acts as a liaison between the judiciary, court staff and the media, facilitates a good working relationship with print and electronic media. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in public relations, journalism, communications or related field plus 4 years of professional level public relations or related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge of the court system is desirable. Salary: $20.32 - $30.51/hour, DOE. (2006)

DEPUTY COUNSEL FOR STATEWIDE COURT COMMUNICATIONS: Supreme Court of Missouri. Duties: Successful candidate for this full-time legal position will be responsible for assisting the communications counsel in all external communications activities for the Missouri judicial branch, including but not limited to assistance with: Managing statewide communication with the media, other governmental entities and the public about cases pending in the Court, the role of the state courts, rules and procedures, and issues impacting the courts; Responding to requests for information from the media, governmental entities and the public; Managing annual reports and informational publications about the state courts; Writing speeches and columns for judges; Managing the Web presence of the state's courts and judges; Coordinating public tours of the Supreme Court Building; Developing state court outreach programs, as directed by the Court; Assisting state courts and judges with communication projects, as approved by the Court; and coordinating with local, state and national organizations such as the various bar associations, American Judicature Society, Justice at Stake, the National Center for State Courts, and the Conference of Court Public Information Officers, including attending state, regional and national conferences, as directed by the Court. Qualifications: Successful candidate should be licensed as a Missouri attorney or should become licensed as a Missouri attorney within one year of accepting the job; have a background in communications, journalism, education or related field; should have excellent oral and written communication skills, including proficiency in legal research and writing; and should be familiar with Missouri legal procedure and Supreme Court rules, including those governing cameras in the courtroom.  

COURT EXECUTIVE 2A: Office of Communications, AOC, Trenton, NJ. Duties: The Office of Communications is seeking a highly motivated individual with strong management and communications skills who, under the general direction of the Court Executive 3B (Assistant Director of Internet Services) will be responsible for managing the Judiciary’s Internet and Intranet Web Sites. This individual will also be responsible for developing and implementing short and long-term goals, objectives, policies, and procedures for the Web Sites that support the mission, goals, and objectives of the Judiciary, and for coordinating the work of a web team comprised of six IT professionals. The selected candidate will coordinate and track team work flow and schedules, organize and prioritize projects, assign daily tasks and manage the workload for the web team, compile required statistics, evaluate and assess the work accomplished by the web team to ensure quality, and supervise staff by providing guidance, assistance, and training as required. Additional duties include incorporating the principles of teamwork in the resolution, completion and follow-up of various responsibilities, and serving as the point of contact to the organization on Internet and Intranet web-related matters. Qualifications: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree. Five years of professional administrative and/or program management experience, three of which shall have included responsibility for program development and/or implementation and for supervision of staff. COMMUNICATIONS SPECIALIST V: AOC, Phoenix, Arizona. Summary: Under the supervision of the Communications Officer, this position is responsible for the planning, coordinating, design, production and implementation of assigned internal and external communications activities for the Administrative Office of the Courts (AOC), including the Internet and Intranet websites, annual report, court-related brochures, and internal newsletters. Also provides support and assistance to the Communications Officer for media contacts and relations. Duties: Manages content of the Judicial Department’s Internet and Intranet websites. Works closely, under the supervision of the Communications Officer, with local and national print and electronic media on court-related news stories, editorials and other issues. Writes, edits, and supervises the design, production and distribution of the Judicial Department’s annual report. Writes, edits, and supervises the design of a judicial branch newsletter. Designs, writes, edits and coordinates distribution of information pamphlets, brochures, and audio-visual programs. Coordinates and implements programs for visitors to the Supreme Court. Serves as liaison with external printers and other vendors of publications and communications-related services. Travels, as required, statewide to assist with implementation of Supreme Court outreach programs. Qualifications: Superior journalistic writing, editing, and publication skills. Professional experience in Internet website management, including the posting of documents. PUBLIC INFORMATION SPECIALIST: Arizona Administrative Office of the Courts. Summary: Responsible for planning, coordination, design, production and implementation of assigned internal and external communications activities for the Administrative Office of the Courts, including the Internet website, annual report, and quarterly internal newsletters. Also provides support and assistance to Communications Officer for media contacts and media relations. Duties: Manages content of the Judicial Department's Internet website; Responsible for posting news releases, news items and other information to the website; Works closely with local and national print and electronic media on court-related news stories, editorials and other issues; Writes, edits, and supervises design, production and publishing of Judicial Department Annual report; Writes, edits, and publishes the quarterly Judicial Branch newsletters; Designs writes, edits and coordinates distribution of information pamphlets, brochures, and audio-visual programs; Coordinates and implements public information and outreach programs for visitors to the Supreme Court; Serves as liaison with external printers and other vendors of publications and communications-related services; Travels, as required, statewide to assist with implementation of Supreme Court outreach programs. DEPUTY CLERK FOR PUBLIC INFORMATION: U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. Summary: The Deputy Clerk for Public Information performs duties and responsibilities such as the following: (1) Responsible for greeting and providing assistance to all visitors at the public counter, answers telephone inquiries, receives and reviews incoming documents to determine conformity with appropriate rules, practices and court requirements, routes documents to proper persons after acceptance, oversees retrieval of court records for examination/copying by the public and maintains document integrity and accountability, insures newly submitted documents and documents utilized by the public are routed or stored correctly, insures all time and date imprints are in proper working order and reflect the correct date, enters data into various case management programs, prepares daily reports for distribution to staff members, utilizing a checklist, file documents under the supervision of other team leaders, able to work in a 'team' environment and exhibit a professional demeanor, other duties as assigned in accomplishing the mission of the court as directed by the Staff Law Clerk. Qualifications: Responsible clerical or administrative experience that provided a knowledge of office clerical practices such as filing telephone usage, and keyboard usage. Ability to handle a variety of projects with specific deadlines. At least one year of experience in progressively responsible clerical or administrative experience related to the processing of legal documents, particularly court records, such as might be found in a law office, or in another court in the judicial system; or business requiring attention to detail. Education above the high school level in accredited institutions may be substituted for the general experience on the basis of one academic year (30 semester or 45 quarter hours) equals nine months of experience. COURT EXECUTIVE 4: Office of Management and Administrative Services, AOC, Trenton, NJ.  Summary: The New Jersey Judiciary is seeking a senior level executive with great depth and breadth of experience, the highest level of expertise in strategic planning, and outstanding analytic and communication skills to lead the management of all financial, facility, and human resources matters in new Jersey’s unified court system. Duties: This key manager works closely with the Chief Justice and the Administrative Director of the Courts in aligning the Judiciary’s $750 million+ operating budget and 9000+ staff resources to support the court system’s 450 judges and operations and to provide an effective and efficient system of justice. The Office of Management and Administrative Services (OMAS)is responsible for assessing the Judiciary’s budgetary and human resources needs, negotiating and overseeing the financial plan, and establishing administrative policies for the entire organization. OMAS includes 146 managerial, professional, and clerical staff whose activities support the operation of courts in all 21 counties of the state. This position entails extensive coordination on a wide variety of subjects with the Executive Branch of New Jersey state government and with leaders throughout the Judiciary. Qualifications: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree.  Seven (7) years of management experience, five (5) of which shall have included responsibility for the development and management of budgets, staff, information systems and administrative operations; development and implementation of programs, policies and procedures; and supervision of professional staff. Applicants who do not possess the required education may substitute para-professional and professional experience for education on a year for year basis. A master’s degree may be substituted for one (1) year of experience. A law degree may be substituted for two (2) years of experience as indicated above. Salary: $104,010 - $137,821 (2008)

ADMINSTRATIVE SPECIALIST 3: Office of Management and Administrative Services, AOC, Trenton, New Jersey. Duties: The New Jersey Judiciary is seeking a highly motivated individual to purchase goods and services; analyze purchase requisitions, create new and update existing bid specifications; write and evaluation bid proposals; solicit and negotiate competitive pricing from vendors and make recommendations for issuance of purchase orders and waivers of advertising; review State contracts and coordinate the bid process for RFP’s, RFQ’s and RFI’s, in accordance with NJ Treasury Circular Letters, organizational sourcing strategies and Judiciary policy under the general direction of the Assistant Chief, Purchase and Property.  The selected individual may act as a lead worker to team members of non-subordinates in assigned tasks; write policies and procedures and coordinate work between staff.  Selected individual will create purchase orders; effectively communicate with customers, vendors, other departments and agencies; and provide technical assistance to Judiciary purchasing staff statewide.  Other duties may include maintaining library of current State contracts, maintaining blanket purchase orders; maintaining a database of vendors; conducting analyses of equipment usage services; investigating and resolving complex contract or vendor issues for resolution and related duties as assigned. ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT 1: Administrative Office of the Courts, Supreme Court Building, Carson City, Nevada.  Summary: Under the direction of the Clerk of the Court, this position provides administrative support for the Supreme Court Clerk’s Office as needed. Duties: The incumbent is responsible to provide administrative support services to management and deputy clerks, using independent judgment and personal initiative to perform a variety of routine, entry level duties. ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT III: Administrative Office of the Courts, Supreme Court of Nevada, Carson City, NV. Summary: Under the direction of the Clerk of the Court, this position provides administrative support for the Supreme Court Clerk’s Office as needed. PARALEGAL: Office of Trial Court Services, AOC, Trenton, NJ. Summary: The New Jersey Judiciary is actively seeking a paralegal to assist in processing legal documents in the Office of Foreclosure. The selected candidate will perform specialized technical work under the direction of an attorney, including review of foreclosure files for accuracy of appropriate mortgage documents and pleadings. Duties: Responsibilities will also include screening and reviewing foreclosure case files to help prepare cases for final disposition, and preparing written reports that attorneys use to determine if submitted documents and pleadings in foreclosure actions support entry of a final judgment. Under the guidance of an attorney, the selected individual will prepare writs, orders and other court documents, and establish and maintain effective working relationships with other Judiciary employees, legal professionals, vicinage trial court staff, title companies, pro se litigants and the public. Qualifications: Graduation from an accredited college with an Associate’s degree as a Legal Assistant or in Paralegal Studies, or successful completion of a two year approved course in Paralegal Training at a recognized educational institution. Two years of experience as a paralegal involving the preparation and/or review of drafts of contracts, briefs, motions, affidavits, or other legal documents and/or in the analysis of judicial decisions, legal opinions, rulings, memoranda, and/or other legal material in a law firm, legal tribunal, or organization where the primary function is research, enactment, enforcement, or litigation of legal matters. Certification as a Registered Paralegal (RP) or Certified Legal Assistant (CLA) may be substituted for the required education and experience. Graduation from an American Bar Association – approved law school may be substituted for the required education and experience. Knowledge of mortgage foreclosure procedures is desired. JUDICIARY CLERK 3: AOC, Trenton, New Jersey. Summary: The New Jersey Judiciary is seeking candidates with office skills to provide a variety of clerical support and administrative clerical functions. Duties: Responsibilities include but are not limited to handling mailings; maintaining attendance records and timekeeping for the office; scheduling meetings, screening telephone calls and/or visitors; establishing and maintaining a filing system; and performing other clerical support duties as required. Qualifications: One year experience in an office environment performing a variety of clerical and support services to include keyboarding and one or more of the following: document or information processing, handling payments for fees, recording moneys received, transcribing information, reconciling balances or accounts, scheduling meetings or appointments. Applicants selected to interview must pass an appointing authority administered examination to demonstrate keyboarding skills at the Judiciary standard of at least 25 wpm, or must have otherwise demonstrated this competency as detailed below. The appointing authority administered examination is waived for the following applicants who have been deemed to possess keyboarding skills at the Judiciary standard of 25 wpm: All applicants who possess a current typing proficiency certification issued by the New Jersey Department of Personnel; Judiciary staff that have permanent status in a career service title requiring a keyboarding, typing or stenography test. JUDICIARY SECRETARY 1: New Jersey Judiciary, AOC, Trenton, NJ. Summary: The New Jersey Judiciary is seeking candidates with solid office skills to provide a variety of secretarial support and administrative clerical functions. Duties: Responsibilities include but are not limited to: handling correspondence and mailings; composing routine correspondence; maintaining attendance records and timekeeping for the office, scheduling meetings, appointments and limited travel arrangements; screening telephone calls and/or visitors; preparing financial or technical data, taking meeting minutes and preparing meeting summaries; establishing and maintaining a filing system; creating and maintaining charts and spreadsheets; and performing other administrative support duties as required. Qualifications: One year experience in an office environment performing a variety of clerical and support services to include typing, secretarial and administrative clerical work. Applicants selected to interview must pass an appointing authority administered examination o demonstrate typing skills of at least 40 wpm or possess proof of having taken the required skills test (for example, New Jersey Department of Personnel typing proficiency certificate). Successful completion of a clerical training program with a minimum of 700 classroom training hours or 30 semester hour credits in secretarial science may be substituted for one year of the experience indicated above. Course work must include typing skills, methods, and procedures; other courses may include, but are not limited to, office procedures, word processing, and business English. JUDICIAL SECRETARY 1 (CONFIDENTIAL): New Jersey Judiciary, AOC, Trenton, NJ. Summary: The New Jersey Judiciary is seeking candidates with solid office skills to provide a variety of confidential secretarial support and administrative clerical functions.
