COURT EXECUTIVE 1B: Assistant Civil Division Manager, Superior Court of New Jersey. Bridgeton, NJ. Summary: The Assistant Civil Division Manager to Civil Division will assist in directing and supervising the everyday operations of a multi-county division and confer with members of a case management team for program and case management. Duties: Recommend improvement in operation procedures or administrative practices. Recommend procedures to ensure compliance with court orders, recommend changes to organizational structure or work processes, prepare supervisory staff performance evaluations; recommend disciplinary and/or employee recognition actions; and determine goals and objectives. Other tasks include assessing training needs and requirements to enhance skills and ability of assigned staff; assigning of personnel; and interviewing job or team applicants. Qualifications: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree. ASSISTANT COURT ADMINISTRATOR: Clark County, Department of Human Resources, District Court. Las Vegas, NV. Duties: Assists in the development and implementation of goals, objectives, policies, procedures and work standards for the Court in coordination with the Court Executive Officer and the associate judges; assists in the preparation and administration of the department’s budget. Plans, organizes, administers, reviews and evaluates the work of staff through subordinate supervisors. Oversees or provides for the selection, training, professional development and discipline of staff. Contributes to the overall quality of the department’s service provision by developing and coordinating work teams and by reviewing, recommending and implementing improved policies and procedures. Acts as liaison with and provides professional assistance to judges and other County departments in functional areas of responsibility; represents the court and the County with other agencies, litigants and their representatives and the public. DEPUTY DIRECTOR: Civil Division, District of Columbia Courts. Washington, DC. Summary: Incumbent assists the Director in carrying out the day-to-day responsibilities of the Division, as well as the operation of several branches within the Division and shares with the Director the confidentiality of all office matters. As the principal advisor to the Director of the Civil Division, incumbent is responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of the administrative procedures and functions of the Division. Directly supervises the division’s Branch Chiefs and Attorney Advisors. Duties: At the direction of the Director, provides leadership, guidance and completion of various assignments in critical areas such Performance Standards, Judicial Training, procurement, staff development and training, purchase of services, information and technology enhancements, monthly progress and statistical reports generated through use of IJIS, Excel and/or Access, monthly/quarterly fiscal reports (Pegasys), development of the annual budget, participation in capitol development projects, oversight of physical plant, and analysis of emerging legislative measures impacting civil operations. SENIOR COURT OPERATIONS SPECIALIST: City of Salem, Administrative Services. Summary: City of Salem is looking for a Senior Court Operations Specialist to perform a variety of complex clerical and administrative support duties for municipal court operations. Duties: The incumbents function as court operations generalist; handling more complex aspects of court processing including day-to-day problem solving. Assignments may include criminal court room clerk duties; updating criminal case files, criminal histories and DMV records; preparing, certifying and recalling warrants; jury management; scheduling and calendaring; and processing criminal appeals. Incumbents are responsible for evaluating situations and issues; making independent decisions requiring interpretation of policies, processes and procedures; assisting in development of policies; composing and preparing correspondence in cases where special circumstances may preclude routine or form letters; performing real time entry of court proceedings; and providing proper notices to attorneys, defendants and other parties. The position requires considerable public contact. Employees of this class are expected to employ skill and judgment during these contacts within established policies and procedures. Incumbent in Senior Court Operations Specialist classifications can perform the full range of complex administrative court support duties requiring detailed knowledge of assigned program area(s) and skill in exercising decision making, interpretation and independent judgment and a greater deal of authority in processing transactions and resolving problems. Incumbents may provide lead direction to co-workers. The job involves regular focus on a computer screen for prolonged periods; daily standing for prolonged periods; daily use of a keyboard, light lifting up to 20 lbs; visual acuity and depth perception to recognize words and numbers; hand/eye coordination to use a computer keyboard and common office equipment; speaking and hearing ability sufficient to hear over the phone and at the counter with background noise. Work is performed within an office environment with large volumes of transactions to process, heavy phone and foot traffic and constant interruptions. Frequent phone and in-person contact with angry, hostile, confused and/or frustrated customers, from different diverse backgrounds. Work may involve evenings or early morning hours as necessary. DIVISIONAL OFFICE MANAGER: United States District and Bankruptcy Court for the District of Idaho. Coeur d’Alene, ID. Summary: The Divisional Office Manager is a management position reporting to the Chief Deputy of Operations. The incumbent will act as the resident authority for the office in a variety of areas, including any of the following: courtroom services, calendaring, facilities coordination, jury administration, information technology, finance, and procurement. The incumbent will work closely with the Chief Deputies and other court managers and supervisors. The incumbent must be comfortable carrying out responsibilities and making decisions with minimal supervision, and will supervise divisional office personnel. The Divisional Office Manager provides leadership and supervision of the Coeur d’Alene Office, including primary oversight of the Court’s District and Bankruptcy operational functions; establishes and maintains relationships with other court units and governmental agencies; develops goals and objectives, priorities, and deadlines; and effectuates the policies and priorities as established by the Court and the Clerk. The Divisional Office Manager supervises six staff and is responsible for evaluating employee job performance, establishing standards, and making recommendations for improvement to existing policies and procedures. The Divisional Office Manager makes oral presentations and prepares comprehensive memoranda, reports, correspondence and other written communications. Travel throughout the district and nationally is required. Duties: Manages and oversees the operations of a divisional office. Oversees the receipt, filing and administration of new and existing (both district and bankruptcy) cases. Oversees the filing of any pleadings and their timely processing and distribution. Oversees the scheduling of trials and hearings for both the district and bankruptcy courts. May serve in the capacity of Procurement Specialist, Jury Administrator, Relief Courtroom Deputy, Court Recorder, Coordinator of Facilities and Security, Social Events Coordinator, Calendaring Clerk, Automation Maintenance, and Financial Technician. Coordinates with building mechanic on maintenance related to working conditions. Oversees local space and facilities projects and all building related issues. Works with other agencies in the courthouse including the United States Marshals on routine security related matters. Administers the naturalization program for the region. Works closely with the Finance Manager. Responsible for the financial process, internal controls, preparing deposits and delivery of deposits to the bank. May attend court sessions and conferences. DIVISION DIRECTOR: Detention Services, Pima County Juvenile Court Center, Arizona Superior Court. Tuscon, AZ. Summary: The Detention Division Director is responsible for the safety, security and welfare of children in secure custody. Provides leadership, administration and management of the Detention Center of the Juvenile Court. Organizes and assigns personnel and budgetary resources in order to achieve the Court Center’s goals and objectives consistent with the Court’s Core Values. Provides leadership for staff’s effective and efficient therapeutic engagement of youth and families to facilitate their skill development in order to enhance short- and long-term community safety. Monitors programs and operations implementation, development, and evaluation. Duties: • Provides day-to-day leadership and administration for Detention functions and activities under the direction of the Deputy Court Administrator and Court Administrator. Organizes detention work groups and their leadership in order to successfully accomplish detention activities, functions, and goals. Builds effective work groups for the delivery of quality Detention services. Develops short- and long-term goals for detention under the direction of the Court Administration and in collaboration with the members of the Court Management Team. Develops budgets, monitors and approves expenditures, modifies budget allocations to meet current needs and revenues; prepares budget reports. Assesses the needs of youth in secure custody and their transition to the community. Develops, implements, and facilitates programs and processes to effectively serve the youth in custody to reduce recidivism and the inappropriate and unnecessary use of detention. Evaluates programs to determine effectiveness. Monitors personnel development, recognition, and evaluation. Oversees detention staff hiring and termination in coordination with Human Resources and Court Administration for the fair, effective, and efficient use of human resources in the delivery of Detention Division Services. Develops policies and procedures consistent with the mission, vision and core values of the juvenile court. Prepares and delivers clear and effective written and oral presentations. Establishes collaborative, long-term relationships with judges, court administration, groups, and agencies, at the local, state and national level, internal and external to the court. Builds communications, identifies and anticipates issues, and influences decisions for the enhancement of services for youth in custody. Performs other duties as assigned by the Court Administration. Qualifications: A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a major in behavioral or social sciences, public administration, criminal justice, or a closely related field and seven years of progressively responsible supervisory/managerial experience in Juvenile Justice, preferably in a court organization. Or, a Master’s Degree, and five years of progressively responsible administration experience or any equivalent amount of experience, training, and/or education approved by Human Resources and the Court Administrator. DIRECTOR – LEGAL SERVICES DIVISION: State Court Administrator’s Office. St. Paul, MN. Summary: This position oversees the provision of professional legal counsel and legal support services to the judicial branch, including the State Court Administrator’s Office, district administration offices and court locations statewide. Supervision extends to a team of licensed attorneys and administrative support staff providing legal research, analysis, and recommendations in a variety of specialized areas of law and court administration. The position serves as a member of the State Court Administrator’s Office senior management team and reports to the State Court Administrator. Duties: Oversees and directs the programs, activities and staff of the Legal Services Division of the Minnesota Judicial Branch. Plans, prioritizes, directs and evaluates the legal services provided by the division to facilitate the administration of the Judicial Branch. Services provided by division staff include, but are not limited to: conducting legal research and analysis; drafting, negotiating, executing and approving the content and implementation of all branch contracts in accordance with policy; providing litigation support; interpreting and determining the applicability of statutes, laws, rules, case law and policies; preparing and presenting oral and written reports; responding to legislative changes affecting the court; making legal recommendations; and providing legal support for court initiatives and branch-wide governance and rules committees. Oversees and coaches staff in preparing responses on behalf of the court system, assisting in the preparation and publication of notices, orders, and rules, and providing legal and policy recommendations. Identifies and commits the legal resources needed to interpret laws and statutes and to respond to new legislative requirements and court decisions that affect the operations of the state court system. Develops, recommends, and implements policies and procedures concerning the legal aspects of court administration. Develops departmental plans, allocates legal resources across multiple division projects. Prepares and delivers oral and written reports and presentations; oversees and manages staff reports and presentations to branch governing bodies, initiative task forces, and committees Serves on various formal and ad hoc committees regarding legal issues affecting the Judicial Branch. Represents the branch and provides legal expertise in meetings with external justice partners, task forces and executive and legislative branch agencies and committees. Qualifications: Possession of a law degree from an accredited college or university and thorough experience as an attorney in private or public practice, including supervisory experience. Possession of a current Certificate of Admission to the Bar of the State of Minnesota. Salary: $82,079 - $127,122 (2011).
SUPERIOR COURT COORDINATOR: Thurston County. The incumbent will work as part of the Unified Family Court providing program support in dependency cases. Duties: Responsibilities include but are not limited to: identifying, reviewing and evaluating dependency cases at the time filing and cases where the dependent youth are also in juvenile offender status; reviewing petitions, motions and orders for sufficiency; monitoring case processing deadlines; identifying case issues, including services and service gaps; coordinating treatment and other status reports. Serves as the primary liaison between the Court, parties and other participants and will develop and influence relationships with stakeholders that support the program. Participates in the development, monitoring and evaluation of sub-contracted programs and services. Appears at hearings, prepares reports for the Court and schedules hearings and reviews. Performs moderately complex, analytical research work and program development and management duties. Coordinates and completes a variety of complex confidential administrative and technical tasks with minimal supervision. Develops, tracks, and maintains research statistical information. Provides support and backup for other Court staff. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in social work, business or public administration or a closely related field and six years of progressively responsible clerical/secretarial experience, four years of which must have been in a legal or court environment. Must have two years of experience in managing a major project, demonstrating the ability to work independently and make responsible decisions; and a background in legal terminology, trial calendar terminology and judicial procedures. Must have demonstrated experience in modern office methods and procedure. Salary: $2,835-$3,771/month (2011).
DIVISION MANAGER: United States District Court, Middle District of Florida, Office of the Clerk. Tampa, FL. Summary: The Division Manager manages and oversees the full range of Clerk’s Office duties performed in the Tampa office, one of five geographically separate divisions of the Clerk’s Office for the Middle District of Florida. The Division Manager oversees staff responsible for intake, civil and criminal docketing, appeals, jury, and courtroom operations, in addition to regional finance, procurement, human resources functions, and participation in and coordination of courthouse space and facilities projects. The Division Manager is responsible for coordinating all activities involving courtrooms and related matters; reviewing work performed by deputy clerks to insure implementation of standardized procedures; setting priorities and deadlines for completion of work assignments by staff; evaluating work performance of subordinate supervisors and recommending personnel actions concerning those supervisors and other staff. The Division Manager is the primary liaison, communication source and scheduling coordinator for all construction and facility related projects that impact the operation of the Court and its personnel. The Division Manager must possess the ability to work closely with other government representatives to maintain an efficient and secure infrastructure. Qualifications: Candidates must possess a minimum of six years of previous work experience as follows: three years of responsible administrative, professional, or other responsible experience which provided an opportunity to gain a general knowledge of management practices and administrative processes, skill in simultaneously handling multiple projects, issues, and responsibilities, and the ability to exercise sound judgment; and three years of progressively responsible supervisory or management experience, with responsibility for directing the work of others. A bachelor’s degree in business, public or judicial administration or related field is preferred. A master’s degree in business, public or judicial administration or related discipline is desirable. Salary: $77,347 - $96,690 (2011).
ASSISTANT DEPUTY EXECUTIVE OFFICER: Superior Court of California, County of Riverside. Eureka, CA. Summary: Under general administrative direction, plans, organizes, manages and oversees non-judicial administrative and operational units to provide the required judicial support. Assists the Deputy Executive Officer in developing and implementing goals, objectives, policies and standards applicable to the assigned units area of responsibility; reviews work of subordinate managers to ensure compliance with established policy and procedures, applicable state and local rules and regulations. Duties: This Assistant Deputy Executive Officer is an at-will management classification and has responsibility to assist in the planning, managing, and directing non-judicial operations and administrative functions for assigned areas and multiple court facilities. Provides direct support to the Deputy Court Executive Officer in the administration of multiple but specific areas of law countywide in support of court operations (e.g., Criminal, Family Law, Civil, Juvenile, Probate, etc.). Directs the work through subordinate managers and supervisors. The class of Assistant Deputy Executive Officer is distinguished from Division Manager II by the latter's responsibility for managing a single but large area of law or a single larger location with multiple areas of law. Performs other related duties as assigned. Incumbents are responsible to regularly monitor the efficiency of the assigned facilities and/ or unit(s) to ensure effective and compliant workflow processing as guided by local, state and federal rules, laws and regulations. Incumbents are expected to exercise leadership in interpreting laws, instituting policies, methods and processes for delivery of high quality services, efficiently and costeffectively. Incumbents typically handle highly sensitive, complex issues and/or situations and are expected to maintain the confidentiality of these matters. Qualifications: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s degree in public, business or criminal justice administration or closely related field AND four years in a management or supervisory level position with a Superior Court of California OR graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s degree in public, business, or criminal justice administration or closely related field and five years experience in an equivalent management or supervisory position in a legal environment. Salary: $71,141 - $95,272 (2011).
JUDICIARY COORDINATOR 2: Criminal Practice Division, Administrative Office of the Courts. Trenton, NJ. Summary: This individual will monitor the credentials and coordinate continuing training and clinical supervision of the Judiciary’s Substance Abuse Evaluators (SAEs) in the Criminal, Family and Probation Divisions of the 15 vicinages (Superior Court). Duties: Coordinating with Central Office and Vicinage managers, the selected individual will: develop standards and establish procedures for the work performed by Judiciary substance abuse treatment professionals; provide direct group and individual clinical supervision services for the Judiciary SAEs. In addition, this individual will assist drug court manager in the management of drug court special purpose treatment funds though collaboration with clinical professionals/administrators at the Division of Mental Health and Addiction Services in support of the goals of the New Jersey Adult Drug Court Program. This individual will also be required to monitor contracts for clinical consultants and/or services, coordinating scheduling and approving payments; track and coordinate the training and continuing education needs of Judiciary SAEs; develop guidelines and manuals for the preparation of clinical assessments; and perform related duties as required. Qualifications: Possession of a valid license as a Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LCADC) issued by the New Jersey State Marriage and Family Therapy Board, Alcohol and Drug Counselor Committee. Four years of professional experience evaluating and/or counseling chemically dependent clients, including gathering and analyzing socioeconomic information; determining client treatment needs; providing access to social services, therapeutic interventions, rehabilitative assistance, or professional counseling; and preparing reports of findings and recommendations. Salary: $67,728 - $102,435 (2011).
MUNICIPAL DIVISION MANAGER: Superior Court of New Jersey, Municipal Division, Camden Vicinage. Camden, NJ. Summary: Under the general direction of the Trial Court Administrator, the Municipal Division Manager will oversee all aspects of municipal court operations and will formulate and direct the implementation of Judiciary plans, programs, policies, procedures and manage Judiciary resources. Duties: Duties will include, but are not limited to, the following: advise managers on deadlines, rules, regulations or related information; direct case flow management; interpret accounting or financial data; prepare and review budgets; recommend personnel actions; assess staff performance; mentor/coach staff and provide direction and feedback; participate in team or work unit meetings; plan agendas for meetings; prepare technical reports; explain Judiciary policies or procedures to clients or customers; check program success through site visits or testing; investigate complaints; respond to attorney, litigants or citizen complaints; assign workload/specific duties to staff; conduct training sessions or orientation programs; write grants and implement programs, operating procedures or systems. Five years of professional administrative and/or program management experience, three of which shall have included responsibility for program development and/or implementation and for supervision of staff. Salary: $83,621 - $120,050 (2011).
COURT EXECUTIVE 2B: Superior Court of New Jersey, Essex Vicinage, Civil Division. Newark, NJ. Summary: Essex Vicinage is seeking a highly motivated professional with strong leadership, managerial, interpersonal and administrative skills with the ability to collaborate and build strong partnerships. The Court Executive 2B (Civil Division Manager) will oversee approximately 160 employees; (Assistant Civil Division Managers, professional, and support staff) and all aspects of the human resources function. Duties: Under the general direction of the Trial Court Administrator, and in conjunction with the Presiding Judge of the Civil Division, this individual will oversee and manage all civil court operations. The selected candidate will use leadership, negotiating, persuasion, communication and interpersonal skills to work with the Civil Presiding Judge and judges to direct case flow management and reduce backlog. The candidate will implement programs, operating procedures or systems, (including information systems) to enhance Civil Division operations and comply with requirements; evaluate effectiveness of and implement programs to provide outstanding customer service; explain judiciary policies and/or procedures to court users and internal and external customers; investigate complaints; respond to attorney, litigant or citizen complaints; formulate and direct the implementation of Judiciary plans, programs, policies and procedures; manage Judiciary resources; prepare and review budgets; and perform all other related duties as required. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university. This position is an integral part of the judicial education team assisting with the implementation of the statewide education plan with particular emphasis on the education plan for court staff. Duties: Under the general supervision of the Manager of the Judicial Education Unit and the direct oversight of the team leader for the program, the incumbent has primary responsibility for administrative and clerical assistance of conference planning activities related to judicial branch conferences and seminars sponsored by the AOC. STATEWIDE COORDINATOR OF PROBLEM SOLVING COURTS: AOC, Lincoln, NE. Manager. This is highly responsible administrative work
providing assistance and support to judges and clerks statewide
on matters pertaining to the criminal caseload. Duties:
This position will manage Bail Commissioners and assist the
Chief Judge of the District Court with the development and
revision of bail procedures; monitor criminal caseloads

case processing activities of two teams of professionals and
clerical staff members. Duties:

and overseeing the work activities of the two team supervisors.
