Summary: A qualified candidate with proven ability in legal research and writing, and an interest in the intellectual challenges presented by appeals before the Appellate Division. Duties: The selected candidate will work with other research attorneys on one of the country’s largest central research staffs. COURT EXECUTIVE 3B: Counsel’s Office, Office of the Administrative Director, AOC. Trenton, NJ. Summary: The New Jersey Judiciary is seeking an experienced attorney with excellent leadership, analytical, litigation and administrative skills to serve as Counsel to the Administrative Director of the Courts. Duties: This position directs the operations of the Litigation and Hearing Officer units within the Counsel’s Office, as well as renders advice to the Administrative Director on complex legal matters. Additionally, Counsel to the Administrative Director serves as liaison with the Attorney General’s Office, assisting Deputy Attorneys General in the discovery, settlement and/or trial of all Judiciary cases pending in the Superior Court, Appellate and Law Divisions, Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, Division of Civil Rights, Public Employment Relations Commission and other forums. STAFF ATTORNEY: Supreme Court of Nevada, Criminal Division, AOC. Carson City, NV. Summary: The Criminal Division of the Nevada Supreme Court’s Central Legal Staff is accepting applications for a staff attorney position. Duties: Under the direction of the court and the Legal Counsel for the Criminal Division, staff attorneys in the Criminal Division assist the court in resolving motions and screening for jurisdiction in criminal appeals, advise the court regarding all types of criminal appeals and writ petitions through written memoranda or oral presentations, and prepare written dispositions for the court in criminal appeals and writ petitions.  Staff attorneys must possess superior legal research, writing, and oral presentation skills, must be flexible, and must be capable of working independently. ASSISTANT COUNSEL TO THE CHIEF JUSTICE 1: Judicial Branch Building, Des Moines, Iowa. Duties: Under the direction of the counsel to the chief justice, assists with a wide range of duties related to supporting the court’s governance responsibilities, in particular responsibilities related to the promulgation of court rules, assists with a wide range of activities connected with the development of statewide judicial branch policies, and assists with other duties as assigned by the counsel to the chief justice.  Assists with the preparation and distribution of the agendas and minutes of the judicial council.  Monitors progress of action items for the council and assists with the implementation of council decisions and recommendations. LEGAL COUNSEL TO THE STATE COURT ADMINISTRATOR 1: Judicial Branch Building, Des Moines, Iowa. Summary: Duties: Under general supervision provides legal counsel and advice to the State Court Administrator.  Provides legal advice, research and analysis on legal questions involving court administration. Provides legal advice, research and analysis on legal questions and policy for the Iowa Court Information System (ICIS).  Supervises and coordinates the review of procedures manuals, operational manuals, benchbooks, and other legal materials, including review and comment, research or redrafting and periodic updating. Assists State Court Administrator in implementation of new legislation, court rules and administrative directives. Provides guidance and support to clerks of court, juvenile court services, and district court administration to insure consistency statewide. DEPUTY LEGAL COUNSEL: Idaho Judiciary, Boise, ID.  Summary: Under the supervision of the Legal Counsel, the Deputy legal Counsel performs highly responsible legal work for the Idaho Judiciary. Prepare, evaluate, negotiate, recommend, and coordinate a variety of contracts and intergovernmental agreements for trial courts, appellate courts, and the Office of the State Court Administrator. Perform legal research and writing involving questions of law arising from management and administration of the trial courts, appellate courts, and the Office of the State Court Administrator. Advise Legal Counsel and the State Court Administrator regarding interpretation and implementation of law and administrative policies. Communicate with judges, court staff, attorneys and the public on court related matters. Qualifications: You must have a minimum of three years of increasingly responsible experience in the practice of law, significant experience with contract law, extensive knowledge of legal principles and their application, excellent writing and communication skills, and possess a Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school. Summary: This part-time position performs highly responsible work assisting in the development and writing of court education publications such as bench guides, manuals, and monographs for Florida judges and other court personnel. Duties: As part of the development of these publications, the Senior Attorney I will conduct extensive research on a variety of legal issues. ASSOCIATE LEGAL COUNSEL: Denver, CO. Summary: Provides legal counsel within the State Court Administrator’s Office in a specified area of law. This class describes technical legal work in a specified area of law for the Colorado Judicial Department. This class is distinguished from other classifications on the basis of providing legal work and representation of the Judicial Department in legal proceedings, but does not provide supervisory responsibilities over other staff. Duties: Provides technical legal advice to managers, supervisors and employees in order to avoid or minimize legal liability for Colorado Judicial Department. The Executive Director provides professional support to and manages the staff supporting the Commission. Summary: The New Jersey Judiciary, Office of Attorney Ethics is seeking an individual with strong organizational skills to provide administrative assistance to the Administrative Supervisor 3 (Law Office Administrator). Judiciary Council/Conference

ASSISTANT DIRECTOR: Judicial Education Division, AOC, Illinois Courts. Chicago, IL. Summary: This highly responsible administrative position oversees the Judicial Education Division of the Administrative Office of the Illinois Courts (AOIC). Duties: Under the direction of the State Court Administrator, the Assistant Director develops, coordinates, and manages the administration of continuing judicial education conferences, advanced academies, seminars, and other judicial and non-judicial personnel training related activities as prescribed by the Supreme Court of Illinois. The duties include working with select committees of the Supreme Court and its Judicial Conference to develop annual and long term strategic plans for judicial education, assess training needs, develop new programs, and work with faculty to design and implement curricula.  The Assistant Director supervises staff of the Judicial Education Division located in both the Chicago and Springfield offices. Qualifications:  This position requires a minimum of seven years of experience in the design and delivery of professional education programs or a related judicial branch function, three of which must be in administrative duties.  Preferred candidates will demonstrate a working knowledge of the functions of state courts; knowledge of all levels of the Illinois judicial branch desirable.  Candidates must possess superb written and verbal communication skills as well as demonstrated knowledge in project management, preferably including the development of professional training curricula.  Preferred candidates will demonstrate competencies in strategic thinking, strong analytical skills and the ability to work collaboratively and in a leadership and management function with judicial committees. Ability to identify emerging issues and the application of technologies to the adult learning environment will be essential.  An advanced degree in a related field, and/or a J.D., is strongly preferred. CIRCUIT EXECUTIVE: Sixth Circuit Judicial Council, Cincinnati , OH .  Duties: The Sixth Circuit Judicial Council is accepting applications for the position of Circuit Executive. The Judicial Council is charged by 28 U.S.C. § 332 with the responsibility for making all necessary orders for the effective and expeditious administration of justice within its circuit. The Circuit Executive, working under the direction of the Chief Judge of the Circuit, administers non-judicial activities for the circuit court, including budget, procurement, space and facilities, emergency preparedness and security planning, personnel, and special events and projects. In addition, the Circuit Executive serves as the secretary to the Judicial Council and provides policy analysis and development as well as program management to the Judicial Council. The Circuit Executive also serves as liaison to the Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts, the Federal Judicial Center , state courts within the circuit, the U.S. Marshal’s office, bar associations and other organizations concerned with the administration of justice. The position involves extensive analytical and writing responsibilities. Qualifications: A minimum of ten years of progressively responsible management experience is required, with at least five years of substantial management experience in court administration. Excellent written and oral communications skills, and strong interpersonal and analytical skills are essential. A law degree is preferred, but a post-graduate degree in business, public, or judicial administration, along with substantial court administration experience, may be substituted.
