DEPUTY LEGAL COUNSEL: Idaho Judiciary, Boise, ID.  Summary: Under the supervision of the Legal Counsel, the Deputy legal Counsel performs highly responsible legal work for the Idaho Judiciary. Duties: Develop rules or procedure and practices in family law, domestic violence, child protection, and juvenile justice areas; assist in the development of civil rules of procedure; conduct or coordinate legal research at the request of Administrative Conference, magistrate judges, district judges, senior judges, and the Administrative Director of the Courts.  Develop and maintain bench guides, handbooks, and curricula in coordination with the Judicial Education Committee; assist in the planning and administration of district law clerk training; assist the legal counsel with negotiation, review , and development of legal contracts; serve as reporter to certain Court committees, assist with policy development and analysis for the state court system; provide legal advice, research, and analysis on legal issues involving court administration, make presentations at judicial and non-judicial education programs; assist Staff Attorney with motion practice and petitions for review, and Legal Counsel with special projects; lead and/or serve on policy or special project task forces and committees.  Qualifications: Possession of a Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school.  Active member of the Idaho State Bar.  Applicants who are not currently a member of the Idaho State Bar, or who are inactive, must become and active member of the Bar by October 7, 2009.  Minimum of three years legal experience after law school. ASSISTANT LEGAL COUNSEL: State of Oregon, Office of the State Court Administrator, Legal Counsel Division, Salem, Oregon Summary: Duties: This position is under the direct supervision of Legal Counsel to the State Court Administrator.  Typical job duties include, but are not limited to, the tasks listed below.  Assigned tasks may be changed to accommodate workload and organizational needs. Prepare, evaluate, negotiate, recommend, and coordinate a variety of contracts and intergovernmental agreements for trial courts, appellate courts, and the Office of the State Court Administrator. Perform legal research and writing involving questions of law arising from management and administration of the trial courts, appellate courts, and the Office of the State Court Administrator. Advise Legal Counsel and the State Court Administrator regarding interpretation and implementation of law and administrative policies. Communicate with judges, court staff, attorneys and the public on court related matters. Qualifications: You must have a minimum of three years of increasingly responsible experience in the practice of law, significant experience with contract law, extensive knowledge of legal principles and their application, excellent writing and communication skills, and possess a Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school. In addition to the experience described above, knowledge of any of the following areas of law is desirable: information technology, intellectual property, licensing, IT confidentiality and electronic security, public contract law and collections.  Active Membership in the Oregon State Bar is required.  However, applications will be accepted from attorneys licensed to practice law in another state or if on inactive status with the Oregon State Bar.  If selected, such an applicant will be hired in the Executive Analyst classification and will be expected to take and pass the next available Oregon State Bar exam or be admitted to active practice at the earliest possible opportunity.  The applicant will be reclassified to the Assistant Legal Counsel classification when active membership in the Oregon State Bar is obtained.  Preference will be given to current members of the Oregon State Bar. GENERAL COUNSEL, AOC: Administrative Office of the Courts, Oklahoma City, OK. Summary: The Administrative Director of the Courts, Michael D. Evans, is seeking an attorney to serve as General Counsel for the A.O.C. under the supervising control of the Oklahoma Supreme Court. DEPUTY COUNSEL FOR STATEWIDE COURT COMMUNICATIONS: Supreme Court of Missouri. Summary: The New Jersey Judiciary is seeking an experienced attorney with strong leadership and administrative skills to serve as an Assistant Chief for the Office of Foreclosure. ETHICS ANALYST: Office of Attorney Ethics, Supreme Court of New Jersey, West Trenton, NJ. Duties: The Office of Attorney Ethics is seeking two individuals to perform legal research, and draft briefs and memoranda for complex, financially-oriented attorney disciplinary cases. The selected individuals will also prepare investigative reports and pleadings for pending ethics cases and will assist ethics counsel in preparing for oral argument before the Supreme Court of New Jersey and the Supreme Court’s Disciplinary Review Board. Summary: The New Jersey Judiciary, Office of Attorney Ethics, is seeking an individual with strong clerical and computer skills who is able to organize and prioritize work in order to meet deadlines. Duties: The selected individual would be responsible for the assembling and computerizing of all docketed ethics files, accurate and timely updating of the case management information system, maintaining accurate and detailed records and organizing and retrieving case files. The Executive Director provides professional support to and manages the staff supporting the Commission. COURT EXECUTIVE 3B: Disciplinary Review Board, Supreme Court, Trenton, New Jersey. Summary:  The New Jersey Judiciary is seeking an experienced attorney with strong leadership and administrative skills to serve as Chief Counsel to the Supreme Court's Disciplinary Review Board. This position directs the operations and staff of the Office of Board Counsel, which provides all administrative support for the Board. Chief Counsel manages the preparation of attorney discipline cases by the Office of Board Counsel for presentation to the Disciplinary Review Board. Responsible for the development of an annual budget for the Board, Chief Counsel must work closely with the Board and the Disciplinary Oversight Committee to assist in the establishment of a disciplinary system budget for the review and approval by the Supreme Court. The position of Chief Counsel oversees all computer-related activities of the Office and the Board is responsible for the development and preparation of reports to the Supreme Court, the Board, and the Disciplinary Oversight Committee. Chief Counsel must also see that the Office's staff operates effectively and efficiently in the drafting of legal memoranda, the scheduling of hearings and meetings, the filing of Board decisions with the Supreme Court, and the performance of ancillary activities such as the collection of fees and costs imposed by the attorney disciplinary system. CIRCUIT EXECUTIVE: Sixth Circuit Judicial Council, Cincinnati , OH .  Duties: The Sixth Circuit Judicial Council is accepting applications for the position of Circuit Executive. The Judicial Council is charged by 28 U.S.C. § 332 with the responsibility for making all necessary orders for the effective and expeditious administration of justice within its circuit. The Circuit Executive, working under the direction of the Chief Judge of the Circuit, administers non-judicial activities for the circuit court, including budget, procurement, space and facilities, emergency preparedness and security planning, personnel, and special events and projects. In addition, the Circuit Executive serves as the secretary to the Judicial Council and provides policy analysis and development as well as program management to the Judicial Council. The Circuit Executive also serves as liaison to the Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts, the Federal Judicial Center , state courts within the circuit, the U.S. Marshal’s office, bar associations and other organizations concerned with the administration of justice. The position involves extensive analytical and writing responsibilities. Qualifications: A minimum of ten years of progressively responsible management experience is required, with at least five years of substantial management experience in court administration. Excellent written and oral communications skills, and strong interpersonal and analytical skills are essential. A law degree is preferred, but a post-graduate degree in business, public, or judicial administration, along with substantial court administration experience, may be substituted.
