CHIEF ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICER: State Bar Court of California. Summary: The State Bar Court uses independent judges to conduct hearings, render decisions and make formal recommendations to the California Supreme Court on attorney discipline matters. The judges of the State Bar Court are appointed by the California Supreme Court, Legislature and Governor. This position could be based either in Lost Angeles of San Francisco. Although the State Bar Court judges have adjudicatory independence from the State Bar, the State Bar Court is supported by the staff of the State Bar of California. Duties: Working in cooperation with the State Bar Court Presiding Judge, CAOSBC is responsible for overseeing, planning, organizing and directing the staff and operational administration of the State Bar Court. The CAOSBC is a member of the State Bar’s Senior Management Team and is responsible for the administration of the budget and personnel in the two offices of the State Bar Court, subject to the State Bar Executive Director’s overall responsibility to administer the budget, personnel, facilities and related support activities in accordance with the policy parameters established by the Board of Governors and defined in the Business & Professions Code. The CAOSBC may also oversee other State Bar programs separate from the administration of the State Bar Court. Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in business or public administration, or related field; A demonstrated verifiable reputation for integrity and no history of disciplinary offenses in any capacity; A minimum of ten years progressively responsible experience in court administration or equivalent; A minimum of five years senior management/supervisory experience in administering personnel and budget requirements, A Master’s Degree in a relevant field may substitute for up to two years of experience. Salary: $108,240 - $162,360. (2006)

FAMILY DIVISION ADMINISTRATOR: Reno, Nevada. Summary: Family Division Administrator is a salaried, non-confidential, exempt, executive position that provides direct management support to the Family Court Division under the supervision of the District Court Administrator, working in conjunction with the chief judge, presiding judge and judges of the Family Court Division. The Family Court presents a unique environment with a busy, emotionally charged caseload and large number of unrepresented parties. Duties: The candidate we seek needs to have an understanding of family dynamics and the importance of Family Court proceedings, be flexible in managing the needs of support both inside and outside the courtroom and have a desire to build on the foundation of the Family Court Team. We seek an innovative and knowledgeable candidate with broad court administration experience oriented towards family court proceedings and involving the supervision of staff, human resources skills, budget development and monitoring, grants program application and monitoring, scheduling and case flow management, personnel and facilities management, and the development and use of technology to enhance family court operations. The Second Judicial District Family Court Division has 4 full time judges and 6 court masters. Qualifications: Minimum qualifications include a BS/BA degree in judicial, business, public administration or related field; and six or more years of progressively responsible court administration experience. Candidates with an equivalent combination of education and/or experience will also be considered if the sum of their education/experience provides the knowledge, skills and abilities identified as needed for this position. Candidates holding MJA, MPA or MBA degrees and/or certification as a Fellow of the Institute for Court Management will be given preference. Salary: $68,910.40 to $99,944.00 per annum plus an excellent benefits package. (2006)

COURT EXECUTIVE 2B (TAX COURT CLERK/ADMINISTRATOR): Tax Court Management Office, AOC. Trenton, NJ. Summary: The New Jersey Judiciary is seeking a manager with strong analytic and communication skills. The Clerk/Administrator of the Tax Court of New Jersey is responsible for managing all staff operations of the Tax Court. Duties: The Clerk oversees all case operations and management for approximately 10,000 cases filed annually and administrative services for the court including facilities, personnel, information technology and budget. The Clerk will be expected to analyze the current case processing methods and recommend efficient workflow systems; recommend strategies for accomplishing goals; effectively manage and develop approximately 20 professional and support staff; directly assist the judges in the performance of non-adjudicative duties; allocate the Tax Court resources and staff in providing excellent support and service to the seven Tax Court judges; and promote quality customer service to attorneys and litigants. The Clerk is also responsible for the distribution of judges’ opinions, actions and remands to the Tax Court. The Clerk is appointed by the Supreme Court and reports to the Presiding Judge of the Tax Court. Qualifications: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree. Five years of professional administrative and/or program management experience, three of which shall have included responsibility for program development and/or implementation and for supervision of staff. Applicants who do not possess the required education may substitute experience on a year for year basis. A master’s degree may be substituted for one year of experience. A law degree may be substituted for two years of experience as indicated above. Salary: $71,400 - $101,490. (2005)

CLERK OF THE COURT: Danville Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court. Summary: The Clerk serves as the Chief Administrator of the Court and is responsible for the management and application of court resources. Duties: The position maintains authority over financial performance, staffing, budgets, and efficient caseload processing; monitors and performs procedures to ensure compliance with statutory requirements, the needs of the Court, other criminal justice agencies, and the public, consistent with sound management principles. Personnel management consists of supervising five fulltime positions and one 8-hour per week wage position. The Clerk may also be required to perform pre-court and post-court case processing tasks and other tasks connected with the functioning of the office in order to provide timely public service. Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent required; college degree preferred. Substantial experience, or combination of experience and education, required in court, business or office which provides knowledge, skills, abilities in public relations, recruitment/personnel management and evaluation, individual and group training expertise and advanced ability in word processing software, specifically Microsoft Office. Salary: $56,848. (2004)

SPECIALIZED COURT ADMINISTRATOR: Summary: Court Administrator serving in specialized courts such as family/domestic relations, juvenile, drug, etc.

COURT ADMINISTRATOR: Traffic Court, First Judicial District of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Duties: directs all the non-judicial operations of the Philadelphia Traffic Court. Responsible for developing, planning, directing and monitoring all Traffic Court activities through subordinate administrators and supervisors. Must be able to exercise initiative and independent judgment consistent with court policy and objectives. General direction is received from the President Judge of the Traffic Court and the Executive Administrator for the First Judicial District. Qualifications: bachelor’s degree in Public or Business Administration or a related field or equivalent education and work experience. Advanced degree preferred. Minimum of ten years of progressively responsible administrative and management work directing major court-related operations. Experience in an urban setting highly desirable. Annual starting salary range: $65,000 - $80,000. (1995)

CIVIL DIVISION MANAGER: Passaic County Superior Court - Civil Division, Superior Court of New Jersey, Paterson, New Jersey. Duties: under direction of the trial court administrator and in an executive component relationship with the presiding judge, is responsible for the management and administration of staff and resources for the civil division in order to ensure the effective and efficient management of cases; develops and implements plans, programs, and objectives to meet the goals of the civil division; and performs other related duties as required. Qualifications: bachelor’s degree; five years’ professional experience in a public, private, or court-related environment, which shall have included experience in planning, coordinating, and implementing program activity, two years of which shall have been in management and/or administrative capacity; master’s degree may be substituted for one year of professional experience as indicated; law degree may be substituted for two years of professional experience as indicated; additional experience as indicated on a year-for-year basis may be substituted for education. Salary range: $58,401 - $74,043. (1994)
