ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT II (Unclassified): NJ Judiciary-Middlesex Vicinage, New Brunswick, NJ.  Duties: Assists the systems manager in the coordination and administration of database management, software operating systems, programming and mainframe applications for the vicinage.  Assists in developing and providing ongoing training to staff on automated systems.  Monitors the systems, recommends and implements changes, and resolves problems.  Does related work as required.  Qualifications:  Bachelor's degree and two years of professional administrative experience involving the coordination, analysis, implementation and evaluation of fiscal, personnel, organizational and/or administrative systems.   Additional experience to substitute.  A master's degree in public or business administration, management or other closely related field may be substituted for one year of the above-indicated experience.  Knowledge of Powerbuilder, FormFlow, Access, Dbase, installation and maintenance of a LAN using Banyan Vines, Windows 3.1 or 95, WordPerfect, Lotus for Windows and 3270 SNA is helpful.  Annual salary range:  $40,000 - $60,000.   (1998)

SENIOR APPLICATION DEVELOPMENT ANALYST : San Francisco, CA - (Salary: $5,167 - $7,389/month) - The Judicial Council of California, Administrative Office of the Courts, has multiple openings including such projects as Supreme Court Case Management System, Trial Court Case Management Systems, Fiscal Systems, and Judicial Branch Statistical Information System.  Applications Development Analysts are members of the Information Systems Development and Support team in the Information Systems Bureau.  Summary: The unit designs, develops, implements, and supports case management, administrative, and data warehouse systems in use in the Supreme Court, Appellate courts, and some trial courts.  Qualifications:  Bachelor's degree (or experience to substitute) and 2 to 3 years of experience in the analysis, design, and development of applications software.  SQL, Oracle Tools, Power Builder and relational database experience highly desired. SENIOR BUSINESS SYSTEMS ANALYST : San Francisco, CA - (Salary $5,003 - $6,081/month) - The Judicial Council of California, Administrative Office of the Courts, has multiple openings including Policy Development and Maintenance, Strategic Planning, Court Technology Funding, and User Liaison Functions.  Business Systems Analysts are members of the Technology Policy and Planning Unit that provides staff support to the Judicial Council's Court Technology Advisory Committee.  Summary: This committee has primary responsibility for developing, recommending, and overseeing implementation of strategic technology policies and directions for the California judicial branch.  Qualifications:  Bachelor's degree (or experience to substitute) and 2 to 3 years of experience in business or systems analysis, design, operational or system documentation development and workflow analysis.  Experience in strategic planning, technology policy development, and innovative use of technology highly desired. SENIOR SYSTEMS ANALYST : Management Information Systems (MIS), Superior Court of Guam, Agana, Guam.  Summary: Under the general directions of the MIS Administrator, the incumbent will perform complex professional systems design, development, implementation and maintenance of the Superior Court Management Information System.  Employee in this class performs the full range of duties necessary for planning, managing and implementing modifications and enhancements to applications, systems software and information infrastructure.  Qualifications:  Bachelor's degree (Associate's degree) from an accredited college or university in computer science or closely related field, plus four (six) years of relevant work experience performing systems analysis and applications development, with knowledge of government information systems; or an acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience.  Must have a minimum of three years of programming background with the AS/400 using CL, RPG 400 and OS/400.  Must have designed and implemented on-line and batch programs in an AS/400 environment.  Background in networking with the AS/400 and the implementation of imaging systems is preferred.  Annual salary:  $33,811.(1998)

PC ANALYST: Seventh Judicial District Administration Office, Rochester, NY.  Summary: The incumbent will resolve software problems and instruct end-users in the utilization of hardware and software.  The incumbent will assess training needs, prepare course outlines and schedule training sessions.  He or she will also participate in the installation of hardware and software.  Knowledge of Novell Netware, Windows NT, and WordPerfect Office is preferred.  Qualifications:  Bachelor's degree in computer science from an accredited college or university and two years of experience using software such as Paradox, Lotus 123 Macros, WordPerfect Office, Windows, OS/2, COBOL, and C++; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.  Annual base salary:  $33,865. (1998)

INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY ANALYST II: New Jersey Judiciary - Middlesex Vicinage, New Brunswick, NJ.  Duties: Under general direction analyzes and implements the court information processing applications.  Implements and maintains automated information systems.  Provides ongoing training to court personnel in automated court applications.  Evaluates manual systems for conversion to automated data processing systems.  Writes and implements programs.  Determines budget requirements for the maintenance and enhancements of operating systems.  Troubleshoots hardware as required.  Does related work as required.  Qualifications:  Graduation from college with a bachelor's degree.  Experience:  Three years of comprehensive systems analysis, programming, systems programming and/or database administration experience or comprehensive professional experience involving the analysis, development, installation and adjustment of operating procedures and methods which shall have included experience with automated data processing systems and/or conversion from manual to automated data processing; one year of which shall have been in a lead/supervisory capacity.  Experience in network administration, database design and implementation is helpful.  Applicants who do not possess the required education may substitute experience as indicated on a year-for-year basis.  Annual Salary Range :  $37,840 - $65,840.  (1998)

BUSINESS ANALYST, CRIMINAL JUSTICE: Management Services, Information Technology Division, City of Tempe, Tempe, Arizona.  Qualifications: This position requires 3+ years of responsible application system development experience, including in-depth knowledge of System Development Lifecycle (SDLC) and other current client/server technologies, plus the equivalent to a bachelor’s degree with major course work in computer science or a related field.  Strong project management skills with knowledge of criminal justice is highly desirable.  Successful completion of probationary period is contingent upon passing an FBI background investigation.  Essential functions are: 1) Assists City departments with process improvements (both procedural and automated) and works multiple concurrent projects with an assigned team; 2) Meets with customers to define business issues and desired outcome for major projects; 3) Researches and analyzes business issues by evaluating work flow and investigating work processes in other City agencies; 4) Participates in the planning of system development and quality assurance phases of information technology projects; 5) Develops recommendations on alternative approaches, determines cost impact and long-term viability of solutions; 6) May integrate solutions across functional areas of the City; 7) Prepares customer specifications for automated changes and coordinates the implementation of those changes with assigned information services project members; 8) Revises work processes for manual changes and assists with retraining customer staff; 9) Documents new or enhanced systems, whether manual or automated; and 10) May supervise an assigned group of technical staff.  Annual salary range:  $40,772 - $55,045.   (1997)

APPLICATIONS ANALYST/PROGRAMMER II/III: Office of the Administrator for the Courts, Olympia, Washington.  Duties:  as a member of the Research and Information Services Section, provides direct support to researchers, court management staff, and administrative personnel in extracting data, preparing files, and generating reports on case processing and court management issues at all court levels.  Supports court staff in the use of data inquiry tools such as BRIO and INTELLECT.  Works with mainframe software applications such as Natural and PC-based Windows software, and writes and maintains programs written with such software.  Qualifications: (minimum)  Level II:  bachelor’s degree in computer science or closely related field AND one year of experience as an analyst/programmer.  Additional specific experience may be substituted for the educational requirements on the basis of one year for two years of education.  (minimum): Level III: bachelor’s degree in computer science or closely related field AND two years of experience as an analyst/programmer.  Additional specific experience may be substituted for the educational requirements on the basis of one year for two years of education.  Desirable qualifications:  experience with software tools such as Natural, relational database systems such as DB2 and PC-based Windows software.  Annual salary range:  Level II: $29,388 - $37,572;  Level III: $32,400 - $41,460. PC SYSTEMS SPECIALIST: Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit, Denver, Colorado.  Duties:  installs, administers, maintains, and repairs PC hardware and related peripherals; performs a variety of duties relating to the selection, procurement, installation, training, user support, administration, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of all court hardware and software; participates in analysis, development, implementation, operation, modification, support, and enhancement of automated systems; and assists in the integration of PCs into national and local networks.  Some travel may be required.  Qualifications:  high school graduate or equivalent with three years’ general and three years’ specialized experience. A thorough knowledge of MS-DOS, Windows, PC databases, and a general understand of networks is an additional qualification.  General experience:  three years of progressively responsible administrative, technical, or professional experience which provides evidence the applicant has acquired:  a good understanding of management practices and administrative processes; the ability to analyze problems and assess the practical implications of alternative solutions; the ability to communicate effectively with others; the ability to exercise mature judgment; and the capacity to employ these skills in the resolution of problems.  Specialized experience:  two years’ progressively responsible technical experience related to data processing, office automation, and data communication functions, applications, terminology, and methodology.  Education above the high school level in an accredited institution may be substituted for the required general experience on the basis of one academic year equals nine months’ experience.  Completion of a master’s degree or two years of graduate study at an accredited university or technical institution in computer science or related field may be substituted for one year of specialized experience.  Annual salary range:  $29,975 - $36,267 (appointment at salary up to $47,145 possible if applicant meets criteria regarding prior salary and work experience. INFORMATION SYSTEMS MANAGER: Butler County, Hamilton, Ohio.  Qualifications: Two-year project.  Minimum B.S. degree in Information Systems or equivalent.  Experience with VMS and Windows/DOS systems and 4GL database environments (i.e., Unidata, Oracle, etc.)  Five years experience in systems management or equivalent experience required.  Court and criminal justice background preferred. Must have superior communication skills, initiative, analytical ability, good judgment, ability to evaluate problems and recommend solutions.  The BCJIS system will run on a DEC Alpha server 2100, and support approximately 300 users.  Starting annual salary range:  $32,000 - $42,000 (1995)

DATA PROCESSING PC/COURT AUTOMATION SUPPORT SPECIALIST: Georgia Courts Automation Commission, Atlanta, Georgia.  Duties:  Implementation and ongoing support of SUSTAIN court case management software for local county courts; advisor to state-level help desk for field support of local county PCs and LANs.  Qualifications:  advanced experience with MS-DOS, Windows, WordPerfect and  thorough  working knowledge of SUSTAIN court case management software and companion modules.  Novell certification a definite plus.  Superior interpersonal skills, professional manner, and team player attitude required for this high profile position.  Salary:  $32,000 - $48,000. COMPUTER SYSTEMS ANALYST III: Fairfax Circuit Court, Judicial Operations, Fairfax, Virginia.  Summary: The incumbent defines court automation needs and objectives in data processing and communications; assists judges with automation-related projects; handles communications from PC to IBM RISC 6000 server, ad hoc ORACLE reports, the system's backup/recovery, and printer management; maintains and enhances ORACLE-based case management system; coordinates with the clerk's office on civil/criminal electronic file transfers from CICS to DB2 (TSO); identifies requisite hardware components to facilitate end user access to LAN; maintains and enhances WP macros that generate daily civil and criminal dockets.  Qualifications: include graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a degree in computer science or a related field and four years of system analysis experience; or a degree in an unrelated field and five years of systems analysis experience.  Two or more years of computer programming experience may be substituted for one year of systems analysis experience.  Preferred qualifications include network administration experience with a LAN; knowledge and experience with UNIX and NOVELL; ability to produce meaningful management reports using DB2 (TSO); and knowledge of numerous commercial PC software.  Salary is $41,842 annually.  (1993)

COURT AUTOMATION SPECIALIST: Administrative Office of the Courts, Phoenix, Arizona.  Duties: The incumbent coordinates and provides systems development planning and analysis, implementation services, training, and on-going support for an automated court information system in mid-range, PC, and LAN environments statewide; supervises technical and support staff; participates in and coordinates training and implementation activities, providing court operations expertise in requirements definition; prepares program and project plans to implement program goals and objectives; meets with users to determine effectiveness of supported programs; prepares written operations and training manuals; and consults with users to develop automation solutions to business problems.  Qualifications: include a bachelor's degree in information systems or a related field; ten years of combined education and experience; experience in court operations and management; and experience in systems development management, including supervisory duties.  Desired knowledge, skills, and background include mid-range systems (AS/400 and VAX), PC and LAN experience; background in systems and requirements analysis; strong planning, organizing and managing abilities; good oral and written expression; the ability to successfully complete multiple projects and tasks; and working knowledge of project planning software and principles.  Starting salary is $37,620 annually.  (1993)

SYSTEMS ANALYST II: Alaska Court System, Anchorage, Alaska.  This is a temporary position for up to one year.  Duties: The incumbent serves as a project analyst for various courts; is responsible for requirements analysis and design specs for continued automation of the appellate court; analyzes needs, procedures, etc., to determine content of design specs; performs other assigned tasks; and acts as liaison between the appellate court and technical operations.  Qualifications: include a college degree in CIS or business management with emphasis on computer science or closely related field, and four years of professional experience as a systems analyst in a large office automation environment.  Extensive court experience, two years of additional experience in developing and implementing systems designs as a project leader of major office automation, experience in UNIX or UNIX LAN and PROGRESS are preferred.  Salary is $46,624-49,861 annually.  (1992)
