COURT SERVICES OFFICER/TRAINEE: Superior Court of New Jersey, Burlington County. Summary: The Civil Division is seeking an organized, self-starter with the technology skills to establish and troubleshoot the Judiciary Electronic Filing Information System (JEFIS) for the Special Civil Part; this project involves the electronic filing of cases from law firms into Judiciary mainframe systems, document imaging, and the scanning of paper documents into the new electronic filing system. The successful candidate will verify records for accuracy, completeness, or conformity to ensure quality control and data integrity; provide information and training to judges, attorneys, and court staff on JEFIS procedures; answer questions posed by the public, judges, and court staff regarding problems with accessing or using JEFIS; monitor case work flow for efficiency and adherence to statutes, court rules, case law, or policies; establish working relationships between the Information Technology Division of the Administrative Office of the Courts and vicinage staff; and prepare technical or evaluation reports. Performs other duties as required. Qualifications: Court Services Officer Trainee: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree. Current New Jersey Judiciary employees who do not possess the required education may substitute experience in case management on a year-for-year basis involving gathering and analyzing case-related information which shall have included the exercise of judgment and discretion, reviewing cases to identify case management and discovery needs, coordinating with judges and attorneys to resolve case issues and/or preparing reports of findings and recommendations. COURT EXECUTIVE 2A: Office of Communications, AOC, Trenton, NJ. Duties: The Office of Communications is seeking a highly motivated individual with strong management and communications skills who, under the general direction of the Court Executive 3B (Assistant Director of Internet Services) will be responsible for managing the Judiciary’s Internet and Intranet Web Sites. This individual will also be responsible for developing and implementing short and long-term goals, objectives, policies, and procedures for the Web Sites that support the mission, goals, and objectives of the Judiciary, and for coordinating the work of a web team comprised of six IT professionals. The selected candidate will coordinate and track team work flow and schedules, organize and prioritize projects, assign daily tasks and manage the workload for the web team, compile required statistics, evaluate and assess the work accomplished by the web team to ensure quality, and supervise staff by providing guidance, assistance, and training as required. Additional duties include incorporating the principles of teamwork in the resolution, completion and follow-up of various responsibilities, and serving as the point of contact to the organization on Internet and Intranet web-related matters. Qualifications: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree. Five years of professional administrative and/or program management experience, three of which shall have included responsibility for program development and/or implementation and for supervision of staff. Applicants who do not possess the required education may substitute paraprofessional and professional experience for education on a year-for-year basis. A master’s degree may be substituted for one year of experience as indicated above. A law degree may be substituted for two years of experience as indicated above. Salary: $66,896 - $97,257. (2005)

COMPUTER SPECIALIST: U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. Summary: The Automation and Technology Office of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit is seeking a highly motivated, customer service focused, and energetic Computer Specialist. The Computer Specialist performs computer and networking support activities to meet the needs and requirements of the court. Duties: Incumbent should be able to establish short and long range automation plans for the court, assist when court automation environment changes are implemented. Provide customer support follow-up in response to various automation issues or services requested by the user. Assist in the preparation and writing of documentation for Site Administration Manual. Assist in routine testing, establish procedures, monitor security of court hardware and software. Assist in the planning, designing, and implementation of changes to heterogeneous operating environments within a LAN or WAN. Analyze and make recommendations for systems and computer performance for heterogeneous (LAN/WAN) environments. Provide support to Internet/Intranet Web activities for the court. Assist in the development and testing of business continuity plans. Provide software application support, customer assistance and training (support and end user) in the use of office automation products such as the Outlook, WordPerfect, Microsoft XP, MS Office suite of products (Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint), computer assisted legal research (CALR), finance and personnel application software. Perform network administration tasks (account creation/deletion, folder permissions, e-mailbox setup, Veritas backup administration). Maintain Active Directory architecture. Provide Level 1 & 2 customer service support and troubleshooting; Assist in the support of a centralized Help Desk and problem tracking system; Assist in the support of other automation office duties and activities as requested. Qualifications: Responsible automation experience that demonstrates knowledge of office automation practices, knowledge of court operations, and specific experience with office automation. Applicants’ duties include but are not limited to: evaluation, installation, configuration, maintenance, upgrades, and application support, assist in evaluating and making recommendations on optimum hardware and software configurations to fulfill requirements; managing the LAN hardware components that include maintenance of servers, server consoles, workstations and other peripherals. Progressively responsible networked office automation experience as it relates to automation procedures, professional, or technical work, which provides an opportunity to acquire advanced knowledge of policies and practices. COURT EXECUTIVE 3A: Office of Trial Court Services, Automatic Trial Court Services Unit, AOC, Trenton, NJ. Summary: The New Jersey Judiciary is seeking a dynamic manager to manage and administer the operations of the Automated Trial Court Systems Unit (ATCSU). This unit assists the Information Technology Office (ITO) in the introduction of software enhancements for systems to the vicinages, including the requisite training for staff, state courts and federal agencies. The ATCSU also maintains a help desk for ongoing questions from the field and assists ITO development staff in the specification and design of new development and conducts corollary system testing. Duties: Under the general direction of the Court Executive 4 (Director, Office of Trial Court Services), the selected candidate will manage the coordination of all Superior Court judicial applications, training and implementation of all application areas. This individual will conduct field visits and evaluate Superior Court and Criminal Justice Practices; meet with Executive and Judicial branch representatives; manage the implementation and enhancement of existing software packages; coordinate activities with the ITO; supervise and cross-train professional staff; and work as a member of a team in the Office of Trial Court Services to implement priorities in the computerization area. Qualifications: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree. Seven years of managerial experience, five of which shall have included responsibility for the development and management of budgets, staff, information systems and administrative operations; development and implementation of programs, policies and procedures; and supervision of professional staff. PLATFORM ANALYST II: Connecticut Judicial Branch. Summary: Qualified individual to administer Microsoft Exchange in a 4,000+ user, multi-site environment. Duties: Monitoring system event logs and taking appropriate action to maintain optimal system performance; administering Active Directory, mailbox system, backup and restoration; testing and applying server, software, OS upgrades and patches as required; developing, implementing and documenting configuration standards, policies and procedures for operating, managing and ensuring the security of the Microsoft Exchange Server/Active Directory environment; managing Outlook Web Access servers, PDA support, mail routing protocols, relays, encryption, interfaces and transports to external mail systems. Qualifications:  Eight years experience in data processing operations and computer programming. Two years must have included technical support of high-availability Microsoft Windows and Exchange 2000/2003 servers. College training in MIS or a related field may be substituted for a maximum of four years for a bachelor’s degree. A Master’s degree in a related field may be substituted for an additional year of general experience. PLATFORM ANALYST I/II: Connecticut Judicial Branch. Summary: Qualified system administrator for its Windows server group. Duties: server hardware and software installation, configuration, administration and support; implementation and administration of Active Directory and/or E-Directory, user setup, access control, group policy, data security, patch management, backups and restores. Qualifications:  Six years of  experience in data processing operations and computer programming. One year of the general experience must include technical support of Microsoft Windows 2000 or 2003 servers. College training in MIS or a related field may be substituted for a maximum of four years for a bachelor’s degree. Experience working with Windows Server Clusteres, Microsoft Exchange, HP Insight Manager, Microsoft Operations Manager, HP Storage Area Networks (SANs) and Veritas automated tape backup systems desired. MULTIMEDIA PRODUCTION OFFICER: Full-time position available in Williamsburg, VA with the National Center for State Courts (NCSC), a national court improvement organization. Duties: The position will serve as a technical resource for the Institute for Court Management’s eLearning programs and assist with staffing of the NCSC’s EdTech Center and Conference room facilities. The position has primary responsibility for assisting with web components of eLearning programs using on-line education and meeting software such as WebCT, BlackBoard, WebEx, Astound and Placeware. Knowledge of and experience with web development software such as Flash, Director or Dreamweaver or other web development applications required. Hands on experience with computer networks and graphics programs like Photoshop, Illustrator and Publisher essential, in addition to a familiarity with computer programs such as Word, PowerPoint, Acrobat Writer, Access and Excel. Qualifications: Experience providing technical support for video production, video conferencing or video camera operation preferred. Ability to prioritize, plan, coordinate, and execute multiple tasks within assigned deadlines and ability to maintain effective working relationships with internal and external customers required. Skills in communication and coordination within a team environment critical. Applicants must have an Associate’s degree in a technical, communication or skill specialty area in a related discipline (Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline preferred) and three years eLearning, web development, multimedia production and computer and experience or any other combination of education and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the job. COURT AUTOMATION PROJECT DIRECTORSummary: The Louisiana Supreme Court is currently seeking an experienced software development engineer to direct the design implementation and maintenance of a statewide automated case management system.  Qualifications:  experience with systems administration, project leadership and good development methodology in a client-server architecture.  The ideal candidate should also possess excellent interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to communicate effectively with users.  Applicants must have at least 10 years of experience in a variety of computer hardware and software environments and have demonstrated an ability to successfully develop software.  Annual salary range:  depends on experience.  Salary requirements must be included with resume. DIRECTOR OF AUTOMATION PROGRAMS--Administrative Office of the Courts, Little Rock, Arkansas.  Duties:  responsible for oversight of all state court automation projects including oversight of automation budget and staff of eight professionals.  Work will include planning, supervision and evaluation of a new project to provide automation to all state trial courts.  Qualifications:  a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Public/Business Administration, or related field and a minimum of five years of responsible management or supervisory experience, at least three years of which include management of an information system, are required.  Project management experience, experience in a court setting, and a graduate degree in a related field are preferred.  Maximum salary:  $50,0000.  (1995)TECHNOLOGY ADVISOR--Supreme Court of Delaware, Wilmington, Delaware.  Duties:  one-year limited appointment to assist the Supreme Court Committee on Technology in the development, coordination, and implementation of a comprehensive technology plan for the Delaware courts’ system; works closely with those charged with creating uniform standards in the design and acquisition of court technology systems.  Qualifications:  formal education and training to provide working knowledge of the legal system and the use of technology in a court/legal environment.  Annual salary:  $47,000, with benefits. (1994)

COMPUTER SPECIALIST VII-- Arizona Supreme Court, Phoenix, Arizona.  Duties:  participates as a lead member of a small development team, which will develop a client/server court management system to support Arizona ’s three appellate courts.  Qualifications:  extensive VMS, DOS, and Windows experience required; client/server development experience using tools such as PowerBuilder (preferred) or VisualBasic; extensive relational database design and SQL programming experience essential, Rdb and C/C + + experience preferred; digital Alpha AXP experience desirable; WordPerfect and Lotus experience useful; considerable experience in software development using structure methods and RAD techniques; previous experience directing development teams crucial; strong written and verbal communication skills essential; bachelor’s degree in computer science and ten or more years’ experience developing and supporting computer applications.  Salary range:  $50,570.
