ADMINISTRATIVE SUPERVISOR 4: Information Technology Office, AOC, Trenton, NJ. Summary: The New Jersey Judiciary is seeking an individual that will supervise/lead professional network and support staff in the Open Systems group. Duties: Requirements will be to analyze, implement and resolve technical problems associated with New Jersey Court TCP/IP network, and security infrastructure. Responsibilities of this position will also include support of the application server environment on IBM RS6000 and pSeries servers, Windows 2003, Firewalls, Switches, Intrusion Protection systems and Wireless devices. Qualifications: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s Degree. Five years of increasingly responsible professional experience, two years of which should have included experience in: analyzing, designing, programming, troubleshooting and resolving technical problems associated with mainframe terminal, PC or LANs; setting up mainframe terminals, PC or LANs and configuring and networking devices for the end user; installing software applications; database administration; computer operations and/or planning, acquiring, installing and implementing telecommunications facilities and services or developing, conducting or evaluating training on automated applications, computer concepts or information technology operations. Applicants who do not possess the required education may substitute experience on a year for year basis. A Master’s Degree may be substituted for one year of general experience as indicated above. Experience administrating Cisco firewalls, Switches and Wireless devices, or IBM AIX and RS6000 and pSeries hardware support would be helpful. Salary: $54,996 - $89,142. (2005)

SENIOR SYSTEMS ENGINEER: Seattle, Washington. Summary: This position is responsible for systems engineering and operational management of the Department’s core business systems, including the Electronic Courts Record system; a highly complex, distributed system serving multiple Departments, external agencies, and the public for the submission and management of Superior Court case filings; composed of approximately forty Windows-based servers, including application hosting servers, multiple high-volume transactional RDBMS database servers, a multi-million document/multi-terabyte  records repository, and numerous Windows and web-based client applications. Duties: Full lifecycle administrative management of all servers, operating systems, and peripheral devices such as document scanning systems, optical jukeboxes, and storage subsystems in the ECR system, including development, test, production, and failover servers and equipment. Administrative management of  commercial and custom software related to the ECR system, including installation, configuration, and maintenance for Internet Information Server, Microsoft Message Queuing, Component Services, FileNet Image Services, SQL Server, and server and client components of the CoreECR, ECRweb, and EFiling applications. Provide troubleshooting, and Tier II technical support for all aspects of the ECR system and ensure system meets capacity, availability, and load requirements. Lead engineering projects related to the ECR systems for systems upgrades and integration of the system with new client software applications, bulk interfaces, web services, and data exchanges with the State of Washington Administrative Office of the Courts and other partner agencies. Provide software build and release management services for in-house or vendor developed software related to ECR and supporting internal and external customers. Develop and maintain standards, guidelines, procedures, and documentation relating to the design, configuration, management, and performance of the ECR system. Specialize in one or more technical large-scale systems, such as mainframes, servers for large systems, systems software, operating systems, security, databases, recovery, storage, and applications. Create and implement backup and restore procedures. Serve as Technical Expert in one or more assigned specialty areas. Provide escalated/referred problems resolution of internal and external customers. Provide systems engineering services as contracted in service level agreements; ensure that agreed upon performance measures are met. May be called upon to provide support for services or failures at any time. Lead engineering, integration, and implementation projects, create technical specifications for projects, projects plans, schedules, and cost/benefit analyses. Evaluate and recommend system upgrades. Consult on developing and installing new products and applications. Design and implement test environments. May provide consultation on systems engineering issues and development to external customers. Participate in the development of systems standards, policies, and procedures. Design and do first implementation of systems for sufficient capacity and fault tolerance. Document all engineering work, problem resolution, and recurring problems; create technical analysis, performance and enhancement reports. Additional duties as assigned. Qualifications: Successful candidates must possess an advanced knowledge of information systems, processes, techniques and computer technology principles. Requirements include a minimum of 5 years work experience in information technology. A minimum of 3 years work experience as a Microsoft Windows Server systems engineer. A minimum of 1 years work experience managing Internet Information Server in complex configurations. A minimum of 1 years work experience administering a Microsoft Active Directory forest. Demonstrated work experience administering complex, multi-tiered applications in a distributed server environment. Working knowledge of information systems security practices. Working knowledge of formal information technology operations management techniques. Strong teamwork skills and customer service orientation. Strong oral and written communications skills, including developing technical documentation and communicating technical information to a non-technical audience. MCSE or equivalent certification. CISSP or equivalent certification. Working knowledge of ITIL, Microsoft Operations Framework, or equivalent operational management processes and procedures.  Experience with Microsoft Operations Manager or similar systems management and monitoring tools. Familiarity with FileNet, Documentum, or equivalent document repository systems. Experience providing systems engineering support services to software development projects. Salary: $66,400-84,200. LIBRARY COMPUTER SERVICES COORDINATOR: Olympia, Washington. Duties: As the principal assistant to the Washington State Law Librarian, the Library Computer Services Coordinator is responsible for a variety of administrative matters and projects. This position will provide administrative support for maintaining and developing the law library's portion of Innovative Interfaces (III) as well as the development and delivery of data processing systems and user support functions. The position is responsible for the information technology requirements for the Law Library, including maintenance of online catalog, database assistance and computer training. The incumbent in this position will be delegated the authority to act independently, exercising independent judgment for assigned areas of responsibility. The incumbent will perform complex duties in support of functional operations of the Sate Law Library. Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree, business administration or information technology major preferred, AND three (3) years of experience to include two (2) years of information technology. An equivalent combination of training and experience that demonstrates required knowledge, skills and abilities may be considered. Salary: $32,544 to $41,520. (2004)

DATA PROCESSING SPECIALIST -- St. Louis County Circuit Clerk's Office, St. Louis, MO.   Duties:  Manages Data Processing Department with a staff of 3; provides technical hardware and software support to court personnel; conducts system feasibility studies; installs and configures computers and printers; maintains and trains staff on various software programs; designs, develops and maintains local area networks; and, confers with management, vendors and contracted data processing agencies in the design, implementation and coordination of data processing and telecommunication systems.  Qualifications:  4-year degree in computer science, public/business administration or related field; 6 years of professional, technical or administrative data processing experience; 3 years supervisory/administrative experience; or any equivalent combination.  Knowledge of administration of an Ethernet Local Area Network using Novell 4.1, Windows 3.1, Microsoft Word, WordPerfect, Quattro Pro, Microsoft Access, WordPerfect Office and Lotus Notes; setup and maintenance of Micro computers desirable.  Beginning salary is set at $47,172.  (1998)

REGIONAL TECHNOLOGY MANAGER / COURT OPERATIONS SUPERVISOR -- Sixth Judicial District Office, New York State Unified Court System, Binghamton, NY.  Duties: include but are not limited to: management of information systems; integrating and maintaining technical support for courts within a ten-county district; implementing and expanding technology; maintaining current applications; coordinating hardware/software installations, upgrades and telecommunications systems; establishing technical and service contracts; planning and presenting training programs for judicial and non-judicial personnel.  This is a management position providing general supervision over 22 LAN Coordinators and direct supervision over 4 support staff.  Novell Certification must be obtained within 18 months of appointment.  Qualifications: A bachelor's degree in computer science or related field and two to three years of LAN experience.  Starting Salary:  $44,300 - $49,464.  (1998)

DEPUTY COURT ADMINISTRATOR -- DATA PROCESSING -- The 36th District Court, Detroit, Michigan.  Duties: Under the general direction of the Court Administrator, directs the provision of data processing services to the Court including the analysis, development, installation, on-going operation, and modification of computer support systems.  Supervises the technical planning and analysis functions and directs program development and implementation, computer operation, and clerical data entry support personnel through subordinate supervisors.  This is the director of a medium size data center.  Qualifications: Applicants must have a bachelor’s degree in computer science or in public or business administration with extensive course work in data processing.  City of Detroit residency required.  Annual salary range:  $59,904 - $74,900.  (1998)

INFORMATION SYSTEMS MANAGER -- The Twenty-second Judicial Circuit Court, St. Louis, MO.   Summary: The incumbent plans and coordinates information systems activities for the court in such areas as: systems design, specification preparation, training, computer installations, standards, data communications, data base administration, hardware utilization and feasibility studies.  Qualifications: include a bachelor's degree in an information systems processing related field and six years of experience in progressively responsible data processing position, or at least three years similar experience and a graduate degree in an information systems related program; extensive knowledge of current developments and techniques in electric data processing and information processing; considerable knowledge of computer software and programming languages and principles of general management and supervision; ability to analyze court operations and procedures and organize the component parts into an effective data processing operation; and the ability to direct conversion of the court to electronic data processing methods.  Annual salary range:  $45,951 - $68,665.  (1998)

INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY MANAGER -- The Michigan Court of Appeals is recruiting for a newly established position of Information Technology Manager.  The Court has statewide jurisdiction.  The position will be located in Southfield, with frequent travel to Lansing, Detroit and Grand Rapids.  Duties: Responsible for managing, integration and conversion of a comprehensive case information system, including planning, analysis, design, implementation, operation and maintenance of new and existing automated systems, Novell Netware networks and data communication systems and technology.  Involves conversion from Unisys A4 mainframe environment, DMSII in Cobol programming language, to a client server platform, configured on Compaq servers running N.T. operating system and Oracle database applications.  Mainframe applications will be rewritten utilizing such tools as Java script, Visual Basic script, Visual Basic, Microsoft Access, and PL/SQL from Oracle.  Manage long and short range automation plan.  Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in MIS, computer science, or related subject, and five years of experience in managerial capacity directing or coordinating large information systems operation required.  Working knowledge of both mainframe, sophisticated Novell Netware network, and client server technologies essential.  Annual salary range:  $63,015 - $84,292. COURT AUTOMATION SYSTEMS MANAGER -- Mohave County Superior Court, Kingman, AZ.   Duties: Upon direction of Court Administrator, incumbent is responsible for the design, installation, modification, technical support and management of a computerized network information system including oversight of the court automation project, analysis of court information requirements, evaluation of application hardware and software, operation and monitoring of IBM RS/6000 servers and INFORMIX databases, and development and coordination of training programs.  Qualifications: include bachelor’s degree in public or business administration, computer science, management information systems, or related field and three or more years professional/technical computer experience in an automated data processing environment.  Experience with LAN’S, WAN’S, UNIX, INFORMIX, or other relational database software is preferred.  Salary is commensurate with qualifications. APPLICATION DEVELOPMENT MANAGER -- South Carolina Judicial Department, Information Resource Management, Columbia, SC.   Duties: Under limited supervision of the Director of Information Resource Management, manages and directs 7 staff in the development, maintenance, and support of software applications for the South Carolina Judicial Department.  Responsibilities include overseeing and/or performing needs assessment activities, organization and allocation of resources, analysis, design, programming, implementation, and debugging of software applications and training/customer liaison activities.  Also provides direction to or develops and prepares documentation and manuals, development standards, project plans, schedules and status, purchasing recommendations and development software installs and upgrades.  Applications include case management, docketing, judges scheduling, statistical reporting, criminal justice information data sharing, report writer, internet home page and others.  Qualifications: (minimum)  Bachelor’s degree in computer science/data processing and five years of experience in computer system development, modifications and/or maintenance in a microcomputer LAN environment, with at least two years as a project manager or other supervisory capacity; or an associate degree and seven years of experience or equivalent, with at least two years as a project manager or other supervisory capacity.  Preference will be given to those applicants who have more than the minimum experience in client/server development environment using Powerbuilder and Oracle.  Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:  AIX, SQL, Powerbuilder, Oracle, Project Management methods, supervisory/management practices, WordPerfect 6.1, HTML, Focus, GUI standards, documentation standards and systems development.  Annual salary range:  $35,559 - $50,672. INFORMATION SYSTEMS MANAGER  (Unclassified) -- Fulton County Superior Court, Atlanta, GA. Summary:  This classification is a technical and managerial class overseeing the maintenance, technical support functions, systems developments, wide area network and local network installation and improvement of existing information systems.  Qualifications: Required Knowledge:  Principles and techniques of computer programming application and system software design and operations; computer theory methods, data processing equipment, technology and capabilities.  Minimum of three years working with court automation systems preferred.  Required Skills:  Conducting system studies and implementing total data processing systems application; writing program narratives, system test and dated conversion plans; resolving problems associated with computer system activities involving various locations of the user department; training and supervising the work of subordinate employees; performing required maintenance of personal computers and other peripheral equipment; and, performs other related duties.  Bachelor’s degree in information science, accounting, management, or related field plus five years experience in data processing, system analysis design and operations and three years management experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the duties of the job.  Annual salary range:  $55,103 - $83,756.  (1997)

MANAGER OF TECHNICAL OPERATIONS -- Administrative Office of the Alaska Court System, Anchorage, Alaska.  Summary: Senior management position responsible for the development, implementation and maintenance of various electronic systems in the state’s courts, including computers, audio recording, phone systems and other advanced technologies.  In development is a new trial court computer system using RDBMS and 4GL technology.  Most systems operate in the UNIX environment.  Manages a staff of eleven.  Qualifications:  Bachelor’s degree in information systems management, computer sciences, electronic engineering or related field; five years of management experience including project management of hardware/software projects making use of RDBMS technology and 4GL’s; hardware/software projects in a large LAN/WAN environment; and hardware/software projects in UNIX operating system.  Requires excellent interpersonal skills, and effective oral and written communication skills.  Requires experience in the creation and maintenance of short and long term technology development plans for a complex organization.  Preferred:  Experience in data conversion; experience in developing and managing training programs.  Salary range:  DOE plus excellent benefits. ASSISTANT ADMINISTRATOR FOR APPLICATIONS--Administrative Office of the Courts of North Carolina, Information Services Division, Raleigh.  Duties: AOC desires a well-experienced manager for computer applications software development and maintenance support team.  The position involves planning, guiding, monitoring, and implementing technical staff and contracting efforts in support of a statewide mainframe system used in criminal and civil case processing, child support enforcement, financial accounting and cash receipting, and administrative operations.  Software development must embrace the concept of open systems for wide data sharing between the state, local governments, and the public.  Qualifications:  Bachelor's degree in computer science (master's degree strongly preferred) and at least ten years of related experience with increasing responsibility, of which at least five years must involve senior-level complex project management and technical staff supervision.  Salary commensurate with experience. (1994)

COURT COMPUTER SYSTEMS COORDINATOR-- Superior/Municipal Court, Napa, California.  Duties: The incumbent coordinates, plans, and oversees the day-to-day activities associated with the maintenance and development of the court's computer system and court support staff; consults with and advises supervisory staff and users on the use of the system, on integration of the system into the daily operations of the court, and in the resolution of technical problems; maintains all aspects of the system; participates in developing and implementing operating policies and procedures related to the court's automated systems; and oversees and coordinates third-party vendors and consultants who work closely with the court.  Qualifications: include equivalent to graduation from an accredited college or university with major coursework in computer science, data processing, office automation, information processing, or a closely related field.  Additional qualifying experience with local area networks, microcomputers, or court-related software applications may be substituted for the required degree on a year-for-year basis.  Four years of experience in a court or court-related setting may be substituted for the required degree.  Salary is $2,572-3,075 monthly. (1992)
