Information Technology Assistant

INFORMATION SYSTEMS TECHNICIAN 1: IT Office, AOC, Trenton, NJ. Duties: The selected individual will function as a mainframe computer operator in a 7 day 24 hour Data Center in a Statewide SNA, ATM, and Frame Relay Network utilizing IBM mainframes running ZOS, DB2/CICS, CA7, CA1, JES2, Netview and HR Openview. Shift work, holiday, weekend, and on-call support are required. Qualifications: One year experience in the operation of a general-purpose electronic computer and peripheral equipment, network operations, and/or information technology support (e.g., scheduling, customer service, or production implementation). Completion of a relevant course of training in computer operations or network operations may be substituted for up to one year of required experience. An Associate’s Degree in Computer Science may be substituted for the required experience. Semester hour credits in Computer Science from an accredited college or university may be substituted for required experience on a year-for-year basis. Twelve semester credit hours equals one year of experience. NOTE: Experience with IBM Mainframes, JCL, CA7, MVS, DB2/CICS, IDMS, network management, problem troubleshooting, interfacing with multiple vendors and a high degree of customer service is helpful. SPECIAL NOTE: Employees must agree to a thorough background check, which will include fingerprinting. INFORMATION SYSTEMS TECHNICIAN 2: Superior Court of New Jersey, Essex Vicinage. Duties: Under the general direction of the Court Executive 2B (Information Technology Division Manager), the selected individual will operate network hardware/software; provide on-call support (help desk) for computer data systems; provide information to customers; notify users on the completion of requested processing and availability of outputs; answer routine questions; record complaints; maintain personal computers, peripheral and/or network devices; report hardware malfunctions to supervisors or repair persons; record information into computerized recordkeeping or accounting systems; requisition materials, equipment, parts or supplies; interpret and prepare reports of machine and program malfunctions along with corrective actions and provide training or cross-training to other IT staff. Qualifications: Two years of experience in the operation of a general purpose electronic computer and peripheral equipment, network operations, and/or information technology support (e.g., scheduling, customer service, or production implementation). Completion of an approved course of training in computer operations or network operations may be substituted for up to one year of required experience. An Associate’s Degree in Computer Science may be substituted for the required experience. Semester hour credits in Computer Science from an accredited college or university may be substituted for required experience on a year-for-year basis. ADMINISTRATIVE SUPERVISOR 2: IT Office, AOC, Trenton, NJ. Summary: The New Jersey Judiciary is seeking an administrative professional supervisor to work under the direction of the Court Executive 2b, Manager, IT Operations or other supervisory personnel. Duties: The selected individual will supervise the problem reporting area (Help Desk) and administer Magic TSD software. Other duties include evaluating training needs and insuring that the appropriate personnel are instructed in the use of new equipment or software. Qualifications: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree. Three years of increasingly responsible professional experience in customer service large scale mainframe computer systems and complex teleprocessing networks, one year of which shall have included computer operations experience. Applicants who do not possess the required education may substitute experience on a year for year basis. A master’s degree may be substituted for one year of general experience as indicated above. Previous supervisory experience is helpful. Experience in customer service, Call Center, and administering Magic TSD software is also helpful. Salary: $47,940.38 - $83,235.06. (2005)

TECHNICAL SUPPORT ASSISTANT: Troy, New York. Duties: Technical Support Assistant are assigned to central Division of Technology Offices, where, under supervision, they respond to information technology users seeking technical support and assistance normally associated with "Help Desk", "User Support", "Installation Services", and "Network Support". Technical Support Assistants attempt to resolve user problems by communicating technical issues to end-users and translate technical problems from end-users to other Division of Technology technical support staff. Technical Support Assistant log calls, answer questions, resolve problems, do hardware and software installations, and perform other related duties. Qualifications: Six(6) college credits in computer or information science; or twenty-four(24) hours of vendors training in Help Desk/User Support operations; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. SENIOR TECHNICAL SUPPORT ASSISTANT: Office of Court Administration, Division of Technology, Troy, New York. Duties: Technical Support Assistants are assigned to central Division of Technology Offices, where, under supervision, they respond to information technology users seeking technical support assistance normally associated with “Help Desk”, “User Support”, “Installation Services”, and “Network Support”. Senior Technical Support Assistants attempt to resolve user problems by communicating technical issues to end users and translate technical problems from end users to other Division of Technology technical support staff.  Senior Technical Support Assistants may participate in developing standard procedures and guidelines to be used in problem resolution. They also log calls, answer questions, resolve problems, do hardware, and software installations, and perform other related duties. Qualifications:  One year of permanent, competitive class service in the Technical Support Assistant title; or successful completion of the Microsoft Windows NT Core Technology course; or Twelve college credits in computer or information science; or Forty hours of vendor training in Help Desk/User Support operations; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Duties: Technical Support Assistants are assigned to central Division of Technology Offices, where, under supervision, they respond to information technology users seeking technical support and assistance normally associated with “Help Desk”, “User Support”, “Installation Services”, and “Network Services”. INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY ANALYST II: Superior Court of New Jersey, Essex Vicinage, Newark, NJ. Duties: The Passaic Vicinage is  seeking a qualified candidate to work under the general direction of the Court Executive 2b (Information Technology Division Manager). The selected individual will provide help desk support, attend and resolve customer service questions and/or problems, identify and report problems that require in-depth support or research; assist in the operation and maintenance of the Local Area Network; install, configure and support hardware and software systems; assist in the design and implementation of computer programs, databases or computer configurations and perform related work as required. Qualifications: Graduation from an accredited college or university with an Associate’s degree. Two years of professional experience in analyzing, designing, programming, troubleshooting and resolving technical problems associated with mainframe terminal, PC, or LAN; setting up mainframe terminals, PCs or LANs; configuring and networking devices for the end user; installing software applications; and/or installing and implementing telecommunications facilities and service. An Associate’s Degree in Computer Science may be substituted for the required education an one (1) year of experience. Three (3) years of post secondary education in Computer Science may be substituted for the required education and experience. A Bachelor’s Degree in any field may be substituted for the required education and one (1) year of experience. A Bachelor’s Degree of Masters’ Degree in Computer Science may be substituted for the required education and experience. Applicants who do not possess the required education may substitute additional IT technical and/or professional experience on a year for year basis. An AOC Information Technology Office Internship may be substituted for one (1) year of the required experience. Completion of a relevant course of training in Information Technology may be substituted for up to one (1) year of required experience. Salary: $44,696.45-$76,977.30. (2004)

INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY ANALYST I: Municipal Court Services Division, Trenton, New Jersey. The New Jersey Judiciary is seeking three qualified candidates to work under the general direction of a Court Executive in the Municipal Court Services Division, ATS/ACS Support Unit. Duties: The selected individuals will function as members of a technical/customer support or training team in a Data Processing Operations environment; provide comprehensive training on Automated Traffic System/Automated Complaint System (ATS/ACS) procedures to municipal court staff, law enforcement agencies, parking authorities, and the New Jersey State Police; provide training and support on the Parking Authority Ticketing System (PATS); complete system testing and program enhancement specifications; design and distribute system documentation; complete field service and customer support visits; conduct regional and statewide user group meetings; and resolve customer inquiries from ATS/ACS users; and perform other related duties as assigned. In addition these positions will require travel on a regular basis to the Municipal Courts throughout the State of New Jersey. Qualifications: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree. One year of professional experience using and supporting data processing information systems; conducting data processing user training; and/or teaching or training. A Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Computer Science may be substituted for one year of the required experience.
