Judicial Educational Directors

JUDICIAL EDUCATION MANAGER: Washington State Office of the Administrator for the Courts, Olympia, WA . Summary: The Judicial Education Manager is responsible for the overall operation of the Judicial Education Section which involves planning, organizing, directing, and evaluating the activities of the section. Duties: Specific responsibilities include coordinating educational planning, curriculum development, implementation and evaluation, conference planning, development, implementation and planning, long and short term planning, budgeting, and supervision of three professional staff. Qualifications: (minimum): Master's degree involving major study in education or education specialty or closely allied field and five years of educational program management experience, including two years of curriculum development and two years of supervisory or project management experience. Additional relevant experience will substitute for education on a year-for-year basis. Qualifications: (desirable): Two years of teaching or training experience. Annual salary range: $48,300 - $61,836. (1998)

DIRECTOR OF JUDICIAL PROGRAMS: Administrative Office of Pennsylvania Courts seeks highly responsible professional to administer judicial program support and evaluation activities for the Unified Judicial System of Pennsylvania.  Duties: Successful candidate will: establish effective working relationships and lines of communication among diverse constituencies; plan and direct judicial program operations in PA's minor and trial courts; develop, design and implement new and existing judicial management programs; and serve as the initial contact for judicial branch staff at the county level.  Qualifications: MS in public administration, management, criminal justice or related field, and 7 years of responsible experience in court or justice system administration, to include three years of managerial experience; or combination of equivalent education and experience.  Periodic travel throughout PA.  Individual must demonstrate: extensive knowledge of complex judicial system operations, PA's functions and structures preferred; unique ability to establish consultative relationships within state and local government; excellent oral and written communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills; ability to analyze complex issues and manage multiple projects simultaneously; and proficiency with PC's.  Outstanding quality of life in South Central Pennsylvania.  Competitive salary and excellent benefit package. EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR: Indiana Judicial Center, Indianapolis, Indiana.  Summary: Applications are solicited for an opening as Executive Director of Indiana ’s center for judicial education, research, and training.  The Judicial Center serves as the staff for the Judicial Conference of Indiana and provides services and training to some 400 trial and appellate judges and over 700 probation officers.  The Center staff organizes conferences for judicial education, trains and tests probation personnel, conducts legal research for trial judges, staffs committees of the Judicial Conference for projects on court reform, and assists in legislative relations.  Recent legislation will prompt expansion of the Center’s functions.  The Executive Director oversees a staff soon to be about fifteen and a budget of approximately $1.5 million.  Salary will be in the high five figures, commensurate with qualifications.  The successful candidate will be a lawyer or judge with energy and ingenuity, demonstrated commitment to judicial education, and a high vision of the judicial craft. JUDICIAL EDUCATION DIRECTOR: Office of the State Courts Administrator, Jefferson City, Missouri.  Duties: plan and coordinate all aspects of training as approved by a supreme court committee; design curriculum, arrange facilities, locate and coordinate appropriate faculty, and provide assistance to faculty on current methods and technologies to present effective learning materials; manage the judicial education budget; coordinate and edit the bench book for trial judges; supervise a small staff; and perform other related duties.  Qualifications: graduation from an accredited college or university with a master's degree in adult education, public or business administration, or a law degree; and five years of responsible professional experience conducting training for adults, including two years of planning curriculum, administering adult-training programs, and evaluating effectiveness of the training.  Salary: $38,484.  (1994)

VICINAGE TRAINING COORDINATOR: Superior Court of New Jersey, Essex Vicinage, Newark .  Duties:  Conducts training needs analysis; plans, develops, presents, and evaluates educational programs for all judicial support personnel within the vicinage; acts as liaison to administrative office of the courts regarding training-related matters.  Requirements:  Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university; three years' experience in planning, presenting, and assessing group or individual training programs.  A master's degree in education, human resources management, or a related field may be substituted for one year of the required experience; experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education.  Salary:  $39,502 - $51,288. (1994)

DIRECTOR OF EDUCATION AND TRAINING: District of Columbia Courts.  Duties: The incumbent develops and directs the D.C. court's education and training programs for judges and court management; serves as liaison to judicial institutes and national training associations; develops education assessment strategies and surveys; and determines education and training objectives; plans, organizes, directs, implements, and administers education, training, and employee development programs for non-judicial court personnel.  Qualifications: include a master's degree in education, court administration, human resources management, law, or a related field and five years of senior-level management experience in planning, conducting, and administering judicial education and employee training programs in a court environment or related area.  Salary is $63,606-81,967 annually. (1993)

JUDICIAL EDUCATION MANAGER: Office of the Administrator for the Courts, Olympia, Washington.  Summary: Under the general direction of the Director of Judicial Services and Activities Division, the incumbent plans, organizes, and directs education programs for judicial and court personnel.  Qualifications: (minimum):  B.A. in education plus five years teaching experience in higher education or adult education, two years of curriculum development, and two years in a supervisory capacity.  Each post graduate degree in education, education administration, or court administration may be substituted for one year of teaching experience.  Salary range is $35,256-45,120 annually.  (Received in 1989 from the Office of the Administrator for the Courts).
