Interpreter Coordinator
COURT
INTERPRETER PROGRAM COORDINATOR: Minnesota State Court
Administrators Office,
St. Paul,
Minnesota.
Duties: develop,
recommend, and administer the state court interpreter
certification and training program for the
Minnesota
court system under
the direction of the state court administrator and with guidance
of the
Minnesota
court interpreter
advisory committee. Qualifications:
bachelors degree, preferably in a foreign language,
linguistics, or language studies; strong project management and
communications skills, and experience working with
non-English-speaking persons/groups.
Highly desirable experience:
working as a court interpreter; and professional
experience in the development and administration of policies,
practices, testing, and evaluation of personnel working in legal
language interpretation or translation.
Desirable experience:
knowledge of and experience with the
Minnesota
state court system.
No salary range given. (1994)
COURT
INTERPRETER COORDINATOR: King County Superior Court,
Seattle, Washington. Duties: The incumbent coordinates activities such
as scheduling and coordinating court interpreters in courtrooms;
facilitating communication and providing services; contacting,
assigning, confirming, and coordinating interpreter and
translator services; identifying and resolving conflicts,
briefing and advising presiding criminal judges; and
supervising, orienting, training, and evaluating interpreters.
Qualifications: B.A. degree; three years
of court-interpreting experience; a
Washington
state
certification; and considerable knowledge of Spanish as it is
correctly written and spoken.
Court interpreting or related experience can be
substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis. Salary is $36,085 annually.
