ASSISTANT CHIEF DEPUTY CLERK: Fairfax County Circuit Court and Records, VA. Duties: Directs and manages staff and operations of four divisions, including criminal case processing, civil case processing, records management and courtroom operation. Acts as a change agent by analyzing processes and procedures, and recommending procedural or policy changes to ensure timely case flow. DEPUTY CLERK IN CHARGE: U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of Ohio. Summary: The U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of Ohio has an immediate opening in the Youngstown Clerk’s Office. This is an exciting opportunity to join our court in a leadership capacity as Deputy Clerk in Charge, with managerial responsibility for all major functional components of the office. Duties: The Deputy Clerk in Charge provides administrative support to the U.S. Bankruptcy Judge and serves as a key member of our management team. JUDICIARY CLERK 4: AOC, Trenton, New Jersey. Summary: The New Jersey Judiciary is seeking a detail-oriented individual to join the Probation Services Division, Child Support Enforcement Services Unit. Duties: Under the general direction of the Assignment Judge of Vicinage 13 and other supervisory personnel, is responsible for interpreting motions, orders and case management proceedings. The need to apply statutes, court rules, case law or policies, screen confidential material, regulate flow of work, and confer with Judges and law clerks on policies and procedures is critical. Summary: The Court Clerk I is a non-supervisory entry-level position and is the first working level in the Court Clerk series. The Court Clerk II is a non-supervisory journey level position, and is distinguished from the Court Clerk I by the performance of a wider range of duties with greater independence. Duties: Receive and process documents for criminal, traffic, civil, small claims, family law, probate and juvenile cases insuring sufficiency, completeness, conformity, jurisdiction and/or validity before acceptance for action by the Superior Court. JUDICIAL ASSISTANT: LaBelle, FL. Summary: This is significantly responsible work performing a variety of complex administrative and secretarial duties for the purpose of managing the office of a County Court Judge. Duties: A person assigned a position in this class is required to have a working knowledge of County Court (including civil traffic, criminal traffic, domestic violence, misdemeanor, small claims and county court) rules and procedures. Working contacts are made with Judges, Offices of the Clerk of Court, Court Administration, State Attorney, Public Defender, private attorneys, Staff Attorneys, state and local law enforcement agencies, the news media, and the general public. CHIEF DEPUTY CIRCUIT COURT CLERK: Kent County, Grand Rapids, MI. Summary: Located in the Kent County Courthouse, this key member of the County Clerk’s management team is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Circuit Court Clerk’s Office. Duties: The position will maintain the records for all cases filed in the 17th Judicial Circuit. Individual will develop and implement policies and procedures in conjunction with circuit court administration to ensure compliance with Michigan Court Rules, statutes and administrative rules and requirements governing the Clerk’s court operations. Other duties include providing oversight of the collection and distribution of all money paid into the court and will serve as the department’s liaison on matters related to the justice network computer programs. Individual will provide leadership for 23 clerical and support staff and will manage the department’s operating budget. Qualifications: Requires a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Public Administration, Legal Administration, Business Administration, Management, or a related field and six years of progressively responsible and demonstrably successful experience in legal administration, including at least four years of supervision; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. DEPUTY CLERK/JURY: U.S. District Court, Northern District of Ohio, Cleveland. Summary: The U.S. District Court Clerk’s Office in Cleveland, has an immediate opening for a deputy clerk. This position works for the Clerk of Court and reports to the Jury Administrator. The Clerk’s Office offers an entry level opportunity into the administration of justice for a self-motivated, detail oriented individual with excellent interpersonal skills. Operations Support Duties: Assists with the preparation of documents and files. DEPUTY CLERK (INFORMATION): U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. Duties: A Deputy Clerk (Information) performs duties and responsibilities such as the following: (1) responds to in-person and telephonic inquiries from a wide range of sources including the media, attorneys and litigants; (2) answers questions regarding local rules, Federal Rules of Appellate Procedure, and the status of individual cases; (3) prepares periodic reports for the Senior Deputy Clerk; (4) assists the Senior Deputy Clerk with Calendar document preparation; (5) provides copies of opinions and case material as requested by interested parties; (6) provides information on admission procedures for attorneys who wish to practice before this court; (7) processes Entry of Appearance forms; and (8) performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications: Responsible clerical or administrative experience that provides knowledge of office clerical practices such as filing, telephone usage, typing, record keeping, sorting and distributing mail. Sales, stockroom, office machine operation and similar types of experience are not creditable unless the experience involved, as a regular and routine part of the job, the use of clerical practices outlined above. CHIEF DEPUTY CLERK: U.S. District Court, District of Oregon. Summary: The Chief Deputy is the senior-level manager of the clerk’s office, reporting directly to the Clerk of Court. In the absence of the Clerk, the Chief Deputy assumes all of the functions and responsibilities of the Clerk. Duties: The Chief Deputy leads an accomplished management team and staff to ensure efficient court operations, including civil and criminal case administration, information technology, budget and financial management, procurement, statistical reporting, human resource administration, courthouse security, and facilities management. The Chief Deputy also leads ongoing business processing engineering programs to develop, implement, and refine office policies, procedures, and programs to enhance the productivity of the clerk’s office and District Court. In conjunction with the Clerk, the Chief Deputy works directly with judges, lawyers, government agencies, and the Administrative Office of the US Courts. Qualifications: Successful applicants must demonstrate a minimum of six years relevant administrative professional, or technical experience in which they applied modern organizational management and motivational theory, team based leadership, conflict resolution, and/or human resources administration. At least three of the six years experience must have been in a position of substantial senior management responsibility, preferably in public or judicial administration. DEPUTY COURT CLERK: (This is a working level position) (General Description) Duties: Under general supervision, performs a variety of legal procedures relating to the preparation and processing of court cases. May rotate through a variety of assignments within a court based upon operational needs. Work performed: Files court documents and receipts fines, fees and bond payments. Balances and reconciles daily cash receipts. Responds to inquiries from legal and law enforcement community and general public. Researches automated and hard-copy files for case status information. Enters case information into an automated case management system. Generates court documents. Drafts correspondence in reply to requests for case inquiries, record inspections or record searches. Maintains jury lists; issues jury summons; prepares jury instructions and processes juror and witness payments. Maintains logs and records and prepares statistical reports. Qualifications: A high school diploma or GED and one (1) year of experience in court case management, in a legal setting or other relevant experience. Knowledge of local court rules; legal terminology; jury management system; hazardous evidence handling; court records maintenance, retention and destruction; local community services; physical security and evacuation procedures; English grammar; basic math; computer hardware and software; general office equipment and procedure.

COURTROOM CLERK: Superior Court of California, County of Kern. Duties: Attends court session; maintains official record of court proceedings; administers oaths, reads information to jury; reads verdicts; and polls jurors as necessary.  Prepares, assembles, processors and/or maintains a variety of reports, logs, forms, and official documents generated from court proceedings such as minutes, abstracts, rulings, orders, criminal commitments, Judicial Council statistics/reports, and certified copies of court documents; uses appropriate legal terminology and format, ensures all necessary items/paperwork are included, submits for judge's signature, and/or copies, files, and distributes documents as appropriate.  Acts as liaison.  Maintains assigned courtroom calendar.  Tracks cases submitted to the court.  Assists judge in the jury selections process and maintains jury records. Maintains control of and acts as custodian of exhibits during trials/hearings.  Reviews orders, filings, judgments, divorce decrees, and other documents for accuracy and conformance to orders/petitions.  Prepares and issues legal documents and court records as directed by the Court such as warrants, attachments, bail forfeitures, recall notices, and various orders.  Reviews, verifies, and calculates claims for payment for court appointed attorneys, investigators, doctors, and others. Types a variety of forms, reports, correspondence, and other documents such as minutes, minute orders, rulings, and abstracts; copies, files and distributes documents as appropriate.  Provides a variety of support functions for assigned judge; checks on status of cases; obtains files, documents, information, materials, and supplies as needed or requested. CLERK V: Superior Court of California, County of Contra Costa. Summary: The Superior Court in Contra Costa County is recruiting to fill a new Clerk V position in support of the court’s new Family Law Expansion project. The Family Law Expansion project is designed to provide expanded services to family law litigants. Under limited supervision, Clerk V provides lead direction to lower-level Clerk IVs who function as technical specialists or legal document processing clerks performing the most complex technical and legal processing.
