Director/Coordinator of ADR

PROGRAM DIRECTOR, ADR: (General Description) Summary: Under general direction, plans, develops and implements the court-annexed alternative dispute resolution program on a statewide basis. Duties:  Assists with formulating policies and procedures related to alternative dispute resolution and works with counsel in drafting legislation and rules designed to achieve ADR related court goals. Plans and prepares the ADR budget and closely monitors expenditures. Certifies outside ADR providers according to legislative criteria; coordinates training, prepares materials, designs evaluation systems and participates in the evaluation of outside providers. Organizes educational seminars on ADR for judges, court staff, attorneys, and other professionals. Gathers data, analyzes statistics, and prepares annual reports and summaries of judicial ADR activities. May conduct mediation and facilitation sessions as needed. Qualifications: Master's degree in behavioral science or related field and four years of ADR experience; Juris Doctorate degree preferred. Must possess a working knowledge and understanding of the state court system and a high level of expertise in mediation, conflict resolution and behavioral modification.

COURT CONCILIATION SERVICES DIRECTOR : Superior Court of Arizona in Maricopa County , Phoenix , AZ.   Duties: Responsible for directing and managing the functions of the conciliation services department; developing and implementing departmental policies and procedures, including the review and evaluation of the effectiveness of programs and services.  This position oversees staff development and training; represents the department in meetings and activities with other departments, agencies, and organizations; responds to inquiries and complaints; oversees the development of and monitors the departmental budget; reviews and evaluates the job performance of supervisory and professional level staff; develops procedures in response to laws or rules and ensures their effective implementation.  This position is unclassified under the Judicial Merit System rules and exempt for FLSA overtime status. Qualifications:  A master’s degree in marriage and family counseling, social work, counseling or psychology from an accredited college or university and seven years of post-graduate degree experience in one or more of the following areas:  counseling, family assessment, mediation, and/or supervisory experience related to a conciliation service.  A master’s degree in a behavioral social science plus specific training or education in domestic relations mediation will also meet the educational requirement.  Annual salary range:  $60,507 - $90,771 (mid range is $75,629).  (1997)

PROJECT COORDINATOR: Foster Care and Adoption Court Improvement Program, Raleigh , North Carolina .  Summary: Well-organized person with superior communication skills and knowledge of foster care and adoption procedures sought to manage four-year project.  Qualifications: Master’s degree in social science, public administration, or J.D. degree desired.  Full-time position with state benefits.  No salary range given.  No closing date given.  (1995)

DIRECTOR, CASE ADMINISTRATION AND ALTERNATIVE DISPUTE RESOLUTION: Prince George's County Circuit Court, Seventh Judicial Circuit, Upper Marlboro, Maryland.  Duties: serve as the senior staff responsible for the integrated case management and alternative dispute resolution programs in all areas of the court; make independent evaluations based upon knowledge, experience, and the court's policy; and supervise a staff of professionals, paraprofessionals, and support personnel.  Qualifications: a bachelor's degree; at least three years of experience in case flow management in a trial court; experience in alternative dispute resolution; and demonstrated expertise in analysis of complex systems and strategic planning, automation, and statistics as they relate to case flow management and analysis.  Preferred qualifications: a master's degree in a related field or a law degree.  Starting salary: $58,000.  (1994)

DIRECTOR: Center for Alternative Dispute Resolution, The Judiciary, Honolulu , Hawaii .  The Center facilitates the effective, timely, and voluntary resolution of disputes.  Summary: The general responsibilities of the director will be helping disputants involved in alternative dispute resolution (ADR), promoting the availability of ADR services for appropriate cases, helping governmental agencies develop ADR programs, and managing other activities as assigned by Hawaii 's chief justice.  Qualifications: include an advanced degree (doctorate is preferred) from an accredited college or university in a law, social science, or an area related to court administration, eight years of administrative or executive experience in arbitration, mediation, grievance processing, or other forms of dispute processing; and five years of management and supervisory experience.  Salary is $4,184-5,957 monthly.  (1992)

DIRECTOR: Alternative Dispute Resolution, Administrative Office of the Courts, Oklahoma City , Oklahoma .  Summary: The incumbent reports to the Administrative Director of the Courts in directing statewide court-annexed ADR; supervises existing programs; and trains mediators and coordinates program with advisory board, center directors, and administrative office.  Qualifications: include a bachelor's degree.  Administrative experience, experience in ADR, and public relations experience are desirable.  Salary is $35,000-40,000 annually, based on experience and qualifications.  (1992)

MULTI-DOOR DISPUTE RESOLUTION DIVISION DIRECTOR: District of Columbia Courts, Washington , DC .  Duties:  responsible for overall planning, direction, and administration of the Multi-Door Dispute Resolution Division; oversees the following Multi-Door Program activities:  Intake Center, Small Claims Mediation Program, Domestic Relations Mediation Program, Civil Mediation Program, Accelerated Resolution of Major Civil Disputes, Mandatory Non-binding Arbitration Program and Settlement Week; writes grant proposals; supervises public relations efforts; and serves as liaison to the ABA Standing Committee on Dispute Resolution. (1992)

ALTERNATIVE DISPUTE RESOLUTION PROGRAM COORDINATOR: Superior Court, Maricopa County , Phoenix , Arizona .  Duties: The incumbent monitors and evaluates the court's existing ADR programs; promotes the use of ADR services through public information and education; develops and implements new ADR programs in the civil and domestic relations departments of the court; and conducts liaison activities with the bench, trial bar, and system users. Qualifications: (preferred): Experience in ADR service administration, program evaluation, and statistical analysis is highly desirable. (1992)

VICINAGE COMPLEMENTARY DISPUTE RESOLUTION COORDINATOR: Office of the Trial Court Administrator, Newark , New Jersey .  Duties: The incumbent coordinates the overall operations of the Vicinage Complementary Dispute Resolution Program; reviews and monitors existing programs in the vicinage; assists judges, case managers, and staff in the use of dispute resolution programs; collects and analyzes data and prepares reports on dispute resolution programs; serves as staff to the Vicinage Complementary Dispute Resolution Advisory Committee; coordinates vicinage activities with state-level programs with the efforts of the administrative office of the courts; and does related work as required.  Qualifications: include a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and four years of professional experience in a private, public, or court-related environment, which should have included experience in planning, coordinating, and/or implementing program activity (with one year as a manager or administrator).  Salary is $42,500-56,000 annually. (1992)

MEDIATION COORDINATOR: Leon County Circuit and County Civil Courts, Tallahassee , Florida .  Summary: The incumbent coordinates and administers family and county civil mediation services, mediates indigent family law and county civil cases, and supervises the citizen dispute settlement program.  Qualifications: include family mediation certification, one year of experience in family mediation, and willingness to conform to an adjusted work schedule, including some evening duties.  Program management experience is desirable.  Salary is $26,000-30,000 annually. (1992)

DISPUTE RESOLUTION COORDINATOR: Supreme Court, Columbus , Ohio . Summary: The incumbent helps courts set up ADR programs, trains mediators, and evaluates projects.  Qualifications: A J.D. degree and three years of progressive experience in the field of dispute resolution, including service as a mediator.  Experience with training and familiarity with the court system is preferred.  Salary is $38,000-43,500 annually, based on experience.  (1991)
