Deputy State Court Administrator

DEPUTY DIRECTOR : Administrative Office of the Courts (AOC), Nevada Supreme Court, Carson City , Nevada .  Summary: The AOC, under the direction of the Chief Justice and Supreme Court, provides administrative services and support to the Nevada statewide court system.  Duties: These services may include, but are not limited to: education, planning, funding, accounting, payroll, personnel and automation support.  The incumbent will be responsible for assisting the Director in managing the AOC's daily operations and staff supervision. Preferred Qualifications: Applicants with experience in court administration, organization, management, finance, personnel, information systems, and grant administration are preferred.  Minimum qualifications:  A bachelor's degree in a related field and at least five years of experience in management.  Excellent written and oral communication skills are required.  Annual salary:  $62,405.  (1998)

ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICER: District of Columbia Courts, Washington , DC . Duties: works closely with senior Court Managers in matters related to the overall administrative services of the D.C. Court System; responsible for the planning, organization, coordination, and execution of the Court Systems’ Capital programs and operational programs; supervises four Branches and is responsible for the coordination and intersection of each of the administrative functional areas as well as the preparation of management data, including detailed reports, summaries, statistical data, etc.; manages the Court’s Public Information Office, mailroom services, printing and reproduction services, internal communication system, stockroom, custodial services, and parking program; provides for the procurement of all services, supplies, and equipment required by the Court; plans, coordinates, and directs the administrative property management program, including maintenance and control; maintains property records, provides periodic inventories and directs procurement of new equipment; and serves as the Court’s liaison and negotiator with the U.S. Marshal and the District Government for security. Qualifications: bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Human Resource Management, a Behavioral Science, or a related field, plus seven years of administrative experience; or ten years of administrative experience. An advanced degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, or Management preferred. Annual salary range: $63,606 - $81,967. (1995)

DEPUTY DIRECTOR: Administrative Office of the Courts, Santa Fe , New Mexico .  Duties: supervise management and professional staff; help direct all administrative functions of the state judicial branch; formulate policies for efficient administration; assist in preparing testimony for bills presented to the legislature.  Qualifications: Desired to have any combination of education and experience that provides the following: knowledge of administrative, personnel, fiscal, and management principles and methods; knowledge of court operations and legislative process; skills in problem solving, persuasion, and interpretation of laws and procedures.  An example would be a master's degree in court, public, or business administration, along with further education or experience, preferably including supervisory and/or policy development responsibility in a judicial or governmental system.  Salary: approximately $56,455.  (1994)

DEPUTY STATE COURTS ADMINISTRATOR: Office of the State Courts Administrator, Tallahassee , Florida .  Duties: The incumbent plans and implements policies and programs for State Courts System (SCS) financing, budget development, accounting services, procurement and property control, records management, personnel services, and facilities management, and presents and lobbies SCS budget issues before the Florida legislature.  Qualifications: include a bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university with major course work in public, judicial, or business administration, accounting, management, communications, or government and eight years of experience in a professional administrative position with responsibilities in budgeting, accounting and finance, personnel, or purchasing, five years of which must have been in a supervisory or management position.  A master's degree in an above area may be substituted for two years of the non-supervisory experience and a CPA certificate may be substituted for two years.  Salary is $4,807-6,633 monthly.  (1993)

DEPUTY DIRECTOR: Administrative Office of the Courts, Phoenix , Arizona .  Duties: The incumbent represents the court in the court community; directs and manages administrative office projects and programs; tracks and maintains Arizona Judicial Council projects; evaluates grant applications and proposals; manages and implements supreme court policies; prepares agendas for directors' meetings; and provides direction and support to various court committees.  Qualifications: include a bachelor's degree and seven years of experience in court administration or high level office administration in government.  A master's degree is preferred.  A law degree or completion of ICM Fellows program is helpful.  Salary is $60,000-80,000 annually.  (1992)

Regional Administrator

REGIONAL ADMINISTRATOR: Summary: Highly responsible position with administrative oversight of the trial courts in the Southwestern Section of the Lower Peninsula of Michigan. Duties: With general directions from the State Court Administrator, the Regional Administrator monitors trial court performance and provides court management direction and assistance to all trial courts and trial court funding units within the region, oversees implementation of state judicial policies, directs the judicial assignment program, settles funding and policy disputes, investigates complaints, and advises judges and court staff on administrative matters. Develops and implements plans, goals and objectives for courts in the region. Directs the personnel and operational activities of the Regional Office. Coordinates the activities of other State Court Administrative Office staff within the region. Qualifications: Knowledge normally acquired through the completion of a master's degree in court administration, business, or a related field. A law degree or other legal training is desirable. Seven to ten years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in a court system or closely related area with a working knowledge and understanding of judicial system management, fiscal and program management, personnel management and intergovernmental relations. Frequent and extensive travel within the region and other areas of the State. Possession of a valid Michigan operator's license required. Alternative qualifications providing these requirements will be evaluated on an individual basis. Located in Lansing , Michigan . Annual salary range: $62,700 - $88,700. (1998)
