CHIEF DEPUTY ADMINISTRATIVE DIRECTOR: AOC, Sacramento, California. Duties: Under policy direction, directs assigned units, functions, and operations of the Administrative Office of the Courts (AOC); acts as the Administrative Director of the Courts in his or her absence; performs related work as assigned. This is an executive-level class. Incumbents are responsible for directing assigned units, functions, and operations of the AOC and evaluating the agency’s goals and direction. This class is distinguished from the Administrative Director of the Courts in that the latter is the chief executive for the agency and serves as its appointing authority and chief spokesperson. Duties: Participates in directing the development and implementation of AOC goals and objectives. Directs the development and implementation of policies, procedures, and work standards related to the internal operations of the agency. Participates in developing, recommending, and implementing AOC programs in furtherance of Judicial Council policies and priorities. Participates in directing the development and administration of the AOC’s budget. Negotiates program policy and service agreements with state courts and other government entities. Creates performance and development plans for direct reports, conducts periodic discussions about progress on performance and development plans, and prepares written performance reviews and discusses same with assigned staff. Reviews and approves personnel appointments; administers employee disciplinary actions and dismissals as necessary. Acts as Administrative Director of the Courts in his or her absence. Represents the judiciary to external customers, including other branches of government. Resolves emerging problems related to AOC policy and personnel. Qualifications: Equivalent to possession of a bachelor’s degree and eight years of increasingly responsible experience in a relevant field, including a minimum of five years of increasingly responsible management experience or One year as an executive with the judicial branch. CHIEF DEPUTY COURT ADMINISTRATOR: Administrative Office of the Courts, Fort Myers, FL. Summary: The Chief Deputy Court Administrator assists the Court Administrator with responsible, highly-complex, administrative and supervisory work related to the daily operations of a five-county judicial circuit. Duties: The position is responsible for monitoring the performance of various court programs to ensure achievement of their established goals and compliance with court policy and procedures. The programs administered include the fiscal operations, public affairs, family court services, pro se, mediation/arbitration, drug courts, teen court, juvenile justice programs, law library, court technology, probation, pretrial services, court reporting, language interpreters, and other divisions or staff as may be required. Working relationships are established with judges, court personnel, state and county officials, attorneys, personnel of local organizations and the general public. Extensive interpersonal contacts are made for the purposes of obtaining concurrence, cooperation, compliance, or approval of established or proposed courses of action; and to convey, receive, and explain detailed information often concerning subjects that are difficult to comprehend or are controversial. Qualifications: Graduation from an accredited 4-year college or university with major course work in public, business or judicial administration and 7 years experience in court administration. A master’s degree in public, business or judicial administration is preferred. ASSISTANT STATE COURT ADMINISTRATOR: Administrative Office of the Courts, Bismarck , ND. Summary: Seeking a full time Assistant State Court Administrator for Trial Courts. Must be a highly trained court professional with proven leadership skills and a thorough understanding of the principles of court administration. Duties: Responsible for providing information and recommendations to the Council of Presiding Judges and others on matters concerning statewide district courts and for coordinating implementation of and monitoring compliance with policies of the Supreme Court and Council of Presiding Judges. Oversee all caseflow management activities of the district and/or juvenile courts. Review management practices in all districts, develop and provide policy and procedure recommendations. Review semi-annual docket currency reports and make recommendations to Chief Justice. Prepare policies for Council of Presiding Judges to assure timely case processing. Develop strategies for improving service and technology, implement and monitor pilot projects and statewide programs. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in judicial, business, or public administration, or other related area and five years of progressively more responsible or expansive trial court administrative experience with several years experience as a trial court administrator. COURT ADMINISTRATOR II: Sixth Judicial District Court, Deming, NM. Duties: Manages all administrative activities and facilities of a multi-site district court and directly supervises financial and clerical staff and may supervise division managers. Administers an appropriated budget between $1 and $2 million and oversees the activities of between 16 to 40 FTE’s. Develops and presents budget requests before legislative bodies or local governments. Oversees the collection of fines, fees, and bonds. Administers court related programs. Participates in short and long term planning for the judicial district. May fulfill statutory requirements as clerk of court. Qualifications: Bachelors degree in business or public administration or in a related field with five years of court or judicial experience, including 2 years of supervisory experience within the last ten years. DISTRICT COURT ADMINISTRATOR: North Dakota Supreme Court, Grand Forks and Minot, ND. Summary: Organizes and directs court administrative activities for all courts within one of the four state administrative units. This position serves as a manager to a large staff engaged in providing service to high volume and complex caseloads including comprehensive district-wide programs, juvenile, and court administrative services. As the senior administrative position within the administrative unit, the position is responsible for providing leadership and guidance in all administrative areas with emphasis on the development and implementation of efficient and cohesive administrative processes. Staff oversight is provided through subordinate supervisors within the administrative unit. Interacts with judges, staff of other courts, attorneys, local officials, media representatives, staff of governmental and private agencies, and the public to explain and interpret judicial district policies and activities and to ensure the implementation and administration of court programs, identifies needs for, establishes and directs the development of policies, standards, work procedures affecting all of the judicial district operations, Establishes priorities, monitors and evaluates the effectiveness and efficiency of judicial district programs. Develops and implements methods to improve services. Investigates, analyzes and resolves problems related to program coordination and operation. Qualifications: Requires a bachelor's degree in judicial administration, public administration or a related field and 4 years of progressively responsible administrative experience in a court or legal setting. Preference will be given to those individuals who have a Master’s Degree in judicial administration and have completed the National Center for State Courts Institute for Court Management Executive Development Program. administrative oversight of the trial courts in the
Southwestern Section of the Lower Peninsula of Michigan. Duties:
With general directions from the State Court
Administrator, the Regional
Administrator monitors trial court performance and
provides court management direction and assistance to all
trial courts and trial court funding units within the region,
oversees implementation of state judicial policies, directs
the judicial assignment program, settles funding and policy
disputes, investigates complaints, and advises judges and
court staff on administrative matters. Develops and implements
plans, goals and objectives for courts in the region. Directs
the personnel and operational activities of the Regional Office. Coordinates the activities of other State
Court Administrative Office staff within the region. Qualifications:
Knowledge normally acquired through the completion of a
master's degree in court administration, business, or a
related field. A law degree or other legal training is
desirable. Seven to ten years of related and progressively
more responsible or expansive work experience in a court
system or closely related area with a working knowledge and
understanding of judicial system management, fiscal and
program management, personnel management and intergovernmental
relations. Frequent and extensive travel within the region and
other areas of the State. Possession of a valid Michigan operator's license required.
Alternative qualifications providing these requirements will
be evaluated on an individual basis. Located in
