Carol Flango has worked at the National
Center since 1985. Before
becoming the Director of KIS in 2001, Ms. Flango worked in the Research
Division, where she directed projects in the family and appellate areas and
wrote books on adoption, families in court, appellate court procedures, and
appellate court staffing needs. She has served as primary staff on the Court Statistics
Project, the
State Court Organization series, and the State Court Guide for Statistical Reporting. Ms. Flango holds a B.A.
and an M.A. from Temple University, Philadelphia, and is a Fellow of
the Court Executive Development Program of the Institute for Court Management.

Joan Cochet
joined the National Center in February 2004. Her responsibilities include
collection maintenance, acquisition of new materials, circulation services,
interlibrary loans, serial distribution and Intern coordinator. Ms. Cochet
earned her J.D. from the University of South Carolina and a B.A. in History from
the University of Maryland. She is a member of the South Carolina State Bar
Association.

Greg Hurley joined the National Center in
September 2007. He is responsible for providing technical assistance to
constituents, creating Web content, and participating in a variety of other
projects. He received a B.A. in Russian Studies from the University of
Connecticut in 1991. In 1996 he was awarded a J.D. from Widener University in
Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. He is a member of both the Connecticut and West
Virginia Bars and has practiced law for 10 years in the area of criminal
defense. Additionally, he speaks Russian fluently.

Amy McDowell joined the
National Center for State Courts September 2007.
She is responsible for providing technical assistance to constituents,
creating Web content, and participating in a variety of other projects.
Ms. McDowell earned her J.D. from the University of Richmond, T.C.
Williams School of Law, her M.P.A. from Old Dominion University, and her B.A.
from the College of William and Mary, where she majored in Government and
English. Additionally, she is an
active member of the Virginia State Bar, as well as an adjunct faculty member
with the College of Business and Public Administration at Old Dominion
University.

Deborah
Saunders joined the National Center for State Courts in May
2008. She is responsible for providing technical
assistance to constituents, creating Web content and participating in a variety
of other projects. Ms. Saunders
earned her J.D. from the College of William and Mary, Marshall Wythe School of
Law and her B.A. from the College of William and Mary where she majored in
Sociology. She is a member of the
Virginia State Bar and has practiced in the areas of criminal law and special
education advocacy.

Larry Story
joined the National Center in 2007.
His responsibilities include managing library operations,
administration of digital library systems, library web page
management and collection development. Mr. Story
earned his M.S.L.S. from The Catholic University of America, an
M.A. in Humanities from Old Dominion University and a B.S. in
Behavioral Science/Sociology from University of Maryland
University College.

Nora Sydow joined the National
Center for State Courts in April 2008. She is responsible for providing
technical assistance to constituents, creating Web content, and participating in
a variety of other projects. Ms. Sydow earned her J.D. from West Virginia
University College of Law and dual B.S. degrees from Old Dominion University,
where she majored in political science and criminal justice. Prior to joining
the National Center, Ms. Sydow worked as a criminal justice college instructor
and also served as a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA).

Lin
Walker's primary focus is the National Center for State Courts
Web site, the CourTopics Database, and Court Technology Conferences.
Ms. Walker started at NCSC as a
court consultant in 1990. Before
moving to Knowledge and Information Services, Ms. Walker worked in Technology Services as a Technology Specialist where she spearheaded the effort to make the Technology
Information Service into a predominately electronic service on the Internet. She
received her master's degree in computer science from New Hampshire College Graduate
School.

Cheryl Wright joined the National Center for State
Courts in January 1994. She provides
administrative support with the Knowledge
and Information Services (KIS) Office and provides Web support for the Knowledge
and Information Services Web pages and the CourTopics Database.
