More than ever before, courts are being held accountable for their operations and performance. Courts have an increased need for employees to acquire knowledge and to develop their skills and abilities to assist in meeting organizational goals and objectives. The National Center for State Courts’ Institute for Court Management invites you to consider the Court Management Program (CMP) as a means of investing in your professional development and in the future of our nation’s courts. We invite you to explore the CMP Web site to learn more about this innovative certification program, designed specifically for court personnel interested in pursuing or advancing a career in management in the courts.

For those who desire court management certification, but do not have the time or the resources required to complete the more vigorous Court Executive Development Program (CEDP), the Court Management Program is for you. The Court Management Program can be offered within your local court or within the state through a partnership program. If there is no state or local partnership for you to attend, you can complete the CMP program by attending our national program courses. Completion of the Court Management Program can also serve as a stepping-stone for entry into the Court Executive Development Program if you decide to continue pursuit of a career in court management; however, CMP graduates must meet all the CEDP entrance qualifications. Simply complete the Court Management Program admissions form and send it in. CMP may be the key that unlocks opportunities for you.

ICM undertook an assessment of its Court Management Program (CMP) from the perspective of the graduates who successfully completed the program to determine: 1) whether the CMP coursework was relevant and useful; and 2) the professional, personal, and organizational impacts realized as a result of participation in the program.  A secondary level of inquiry explored the alignment of the CMP program with the NACM core competencies as well as ICM’s future direction using distance learning.  We invite your comments, which can be sent to eLearning@ncsc.dni.us.

Description

The Court Management Program (CMP) consists of two phases that address the training needs of mid-level court managers. Phase I of the national program courses are offered across the United States and are open to all. Concluding Seminar certification is only available to those who have successfully completed Phase I. Phase I and the Concluding Seminar are also offered through state and local partnerships, however, the tuition and logistics are contractual arrangements and may differ from those of national program courses.

Admissions

Anyone interested in participating in the CMP Concluding Seminar of the Court Management Program (CMP) must complete Phase I. Simply complete the admissions form and submit it to ICM. See the CMP program description for further details.

As a Court Manager in a small, rural area, I wear many hats and need expertise in virtually all areas of Court Administration. The core courses of the Court Management Program provided me with a sound knowledge base and applicable skills that assist me in dealing with the unique issues facing my court. These courses, along with the concluding seminar, were wonderful opportunities to network with other court professionals and grow both personally and professionally.
