Overview:
Our trial courts face unprecedented complex problems that result in unique challenges for the presiding judges and court administrators who lead local and state justice systems. Performance standards judicial assignments backlogged calendars budget cutbacks and a host of other issues confront court leaders daily.
The National Center for State Courts has identified the latest research and teaching practices regarding leadership for government and business executives and has created this new course especially for presiding judge and court administrator teams. Four principles common to all leaders are specially developed to address the problems and potentials within trial courts. As each topic is explored in an interactive classroom setting specific court examples will be reviewed. Leadership discussions will center on how to:
- Know and skillfully use your unique personal qualities to bolster your influence;
- Understand more keenly trial court environments to better decipher options and courses of action;
- Enhance your relationships with others to drive improved court performance; and
- Develop executive-level problem solving capabilities to promote sustainable change
