Court Interpretation
NCSC’s work in court interpretation helps remove linguistic barriers to justice. The 36-member states of the Consortium for State Court Interpreter Certification work together with the support of NCSC to develop standards for court interpretation and proficiency exams in 14 languages from Arabic to Cantonese, Hmong to Spanish. NCSC also provides technical assistance to courts to help them implement their own interpretation programs and administers certification exams for federal court interpreters.
