William H. Rehnquist Award for Judicial Excellence

William H. Rehnquist Award for Judicial Excellence. Since 1996, the NCSC has presented this award to a sitting judge who exemplifies the highest level of judicial excellence, integrity, fairness, professional ethics, and sound judgment. In 2006 NCSC honored Judge Edward R. Brunner (Circuit Court, Branch II, Barron County, Wisconsin) for his work to improve public access to and satisfaction with the court system, as well as his achievement in a wide variety of other administrative areas, such as court security and interpretation. Chief Justice John G. Roberts, Jr., of the U.S. Supreme Court, presented the award to Judge Brunner at a dinner in the Great Hall of the Supreme Court in November 2006.
