Databases (Mass Torts, ADR)

The Mass Tort Judges’ Network is made up of state court judges presiding over or interested in mass tort cases. The network is maintained by the National Center for State Courts as a vehicle to connect mass tort judges with one another and to provide access to news and educational resources about developments in mass tort management.

In addition, a database is being constructed using state-by-state court resources based on results of an NCSC mass tort survey and other sources. The database includes information on where to find additional resources, blog addresses, and publications relating to the subject.

Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) Court-connected alternative dispute resolution (ADR) has spread throughout the country over the past few decades. While every state has some type of court-connected ADR at some level, due to the “grassroots” nature of the movement and the “pilot” nature of many programs, few programs are statewide. That has made the question of “who is doing what” difficult, if not impossible, to answer.

NCSC’s database of ADR programs and practices, launched in 2006, attempts to answer that question. We have collected qualifications, compensation, referral, and program information from every state (and within some states, every county), and new information is constantly being added. Information is searchable by program type (small claims, civil, family, appellate, criminal, juvenile, restorative justice, or probate) and location (statewide/multiple counties, or individual counties).
