Eight Court Professionals Graduate from
Prestigious Court Executive Development Program

Williamsburg, VA (May 6, 2005)  –  Eight court professionals from around the country recently became Fellows of the Institute for Court Management (ICM), which is the educational arm of the National Center for State Courts. To become Fellows, they completed ICM’s rigorous Court Executive Development Program (CEDP) Graduation ceremonies were held in the Thurgood Marshall Federal Judiciary Building in Washington, D.C.

CEDP is the only program of its kind in the United States and was established more than 30 years ago, in part, by U.S. Chief Justice Warren E. Burger in his call for improving the management of state court administration. The intensive educational program consists of four phases and normally takes about two years to complete, better prepares them for management and leadership positions in the courts. Since the first class of CEDP graduates in 1970, more than 1,000 court professionals in 48 states, the District of Columbia, Guam, and 12 foreign countries have become Fellows.

The Fellows include:

  • Sondra Battle, deputy court administrator of the Circuit Court of Prince George’s County Court Division, Upper Marlboro, MD

  • William Carr, assistant chief probation officer, Probation Services of the New Jersey Judiciary Probation, East Orange, NJ

  • Faye Gaskin, manager of Management Analysis & Research Division of the Administrative Office of the Courts, Annapolis, MD

  • Dale Kasparek, principal court management consultant, Technology Services, National Center for State Courts, Williamsburg, VA

  • Lawrence Myers, court administrator of the Joplin (Missouri) Municipal Court

  • John Triplett, director of the Nez Perce County Court Services in Lewiston, ID

  • Lynn Sudbeck, deputy state court administrator, General Legal Counsel of the South Dakota Unified Judicial System, Pierre, SD

  • Jeanette Wiesenhofer, court services supervisor, Tempe Municipal Court, Tempe, AZ

The National Center for State Courts, founded by Chief Justice Warren E. Burger in 1971, is a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the administration of justice by providing leadership, research, technology, education, and training to the state courts.
