About
the National Center for State Courts
Formed in
1971 by the nation's state chief justices with the support of Chief
Justice Warren E. Burger, the National Center for State Courts provides
research, information, education, and hands-on assistance for the
nation's state courts.
The National
Center for State Courts has been called an "irreplaceable resource
for the state courts," and it has grown from an information
clearinghouse to a full-service judicial administration resource for
courts worldwide.
The National
Center for State Courts works in partnership with state and local court
leaders. Its Board of Directors represents all levels and
jurisdictions of state courts, and those who use the courts. The
Conference of Chief Justices, the Conference of State Court
Administrators, and the National Association for Court Management hold
standing positions on the Board.
The National
Center for State Courts is supported by voluntary assessments from the
states; seminar and conference fees; state, federal, international, and
foundation grants and contracts; and private contributions from
corporations, law firms, and citizens.
